DISPOSITIF.DE DECHARGEMENT POUR TRANSPORTEURS VERTICAUX DE MATERIAUX OBLONGSo

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

UNLOADING DEVICE FOR VERTICAL CONVEYORS OF OBLONGSo MATERIALS
The present invention relates to an unloading device for oblong materials, for example lumber, transported by a vertical conveyor.
The devices which, \) for this purpose have been in use until now, have often given rise to disturbances because the fall of the timber did not take place in the desired manner, so that jamming occurred within the path of the materials, resulting in a prolonged interruption in work.
These drawbacks are eliminated by the object of the present invention which, in principle, consists of a stripper, preferably having the form of a rake or a fork which is arranged on the path of the materials. The shape and arrangement of the system are such that in the event of shutdown, the stroke of the installation chairs serving as support for the materials to be transported is not hampered in any way by the unloading location. . On the other hand, these chairs are provided along the bearing surface with recesses suitable for strippers.
According to the invention, the front part of the chair facing towards the unloading place is inclined, so that if the overflow member has adopted its operative position, the upper edges of the chair are parallel to the inclination of the frontal part. The frontal slant of the chair ends in a prominence which forms the extension of the sliding surface of the materials, forming an inclined plane.
The unloading device can be actuated in any suitable manner, for example by means of compressed air cylinders or else.
All the details of the invention will emerge from the following description in combination with the drawing showing an embodiment.

On the drawings
Figure 1 shows a vertical schematic section of the descending part of the vertical conveyor at the height of the unloading installation shortly before the arrival on the rake of the log of wood lying on the chair.
Figure 2 shows the same section after a short descent from the chair with material already spilled
Figure 3 shows a horizontal section through the transport installation along the line III-III of Figures 1 and 2, without the wooden trunk appearing therein.
Figure 4 shows the exterior view of the cage shown in section by Figure 2, with the actuating elements of the unloading device.
Figure 5 shows a vertical section along the line 7-7 of Figure 4, without the chair and the wooden trunk.
FIG. 6 represents a side view of the member controlling the unloading device}, the latter being pulled out of the transport path. FIG. 7 shows a variant of the unloading device in side view. FIG. 8 represents the device according to FIG. 7 in vertical section along line VIII-VIII.
To the supporting cables 1 of the vertical transport device is fixed the chair 2 serving as a support for the logs, etc. which in principle consists of three vertical ribs 3, which are fixed to the upper wall of the chair body forming a U open towards the rear. The front part of the chair 2 is provided with a heel 4 of oblique shape which follows the ribs 3 inclined to the front., The heel 4 having the aim of making the trunk 5 fall - which in the place where it is released slides forward from the chair., behind the inclined plane 6 - on the sliding path 7.
Behind the rear wall 8 of the cover of the cage is fixed in a stationary manner the console 9 supporting the bearings 10 of the horizontal shaft III On one side of the shaft 11 is fixed the control lever 12, single-armed; on the other side is fixed the rake 14 provided with three vertical fingers 13. The fingers 13 fixed to the rake 14 thinned towards their free end, are constructed in such a way., that they are located exactly in the intervals between the three ribs 3 of the chair 2 when the rake is slid in the cage ,, to form an extension, directed towards the rear, of the anterior oblique edges of the ribs 3 and of the heel 4 of the chair 2.
As practice has shown that the fall of the logs 5 from the support surface of the chairs does not always take place in the desired manner, the final position of the rake 14 shown in Figures 1 and 2, relative to the chair 2, which descends in the direction of the arrow, cannot be rigid, but flexible so that the free ends of the fingers 13 of the rake 14 are attached to the inner wall 15 of the front part of the chair 2, so as to form spring. When the fingers 13 of the rake are released by the downward stroke of the chair 2, the rake 14 * under the effect of the spring forces abruptly moves a little further, imparting a certain acceleration movement to the trunk 5 to be thrown by the chair 2.
The rake 14 is controlled by means of the pneumatic cylinder 16, placed outside the lining of the cage, and of which the piston rod 17 attacks the elbow joint 18 of the lever 19/20 in the manner illustrated. by Figures 4 to 6, the long lever arm 20 being articulated to the control lever 12. In the working position of the rake 14, shown in Figures 1, 2 and 4, the shorter arm 19 of the angled lever 19/20 is rotated by the piston rod 17 of the cylinder 16 in the position of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
neutral point shown in figure 4.
At the lower end of the long arm 20 of the angled lever 19/20 is arranged the sliding arm 21, movable in length, which, by the articulation pin 22 fixed at its end, is connected to the control lever to an arm 12 , fixed on the shaft 11 of the rake 14.
The sliding arm 21 is pulled in the direction of the bent joint 18 by the compression spring 24 surrounding the guide rod 23, fixed to the sliding arm 21. In the position of the rake 14 shown in FIG. 5, the the ends of its fingers 13 are pushed against the back wall 15 with a certain preliminary tension of the spring. As soon as the ends of the rake 14 have surmounted the upper inner edge of the rear wall 15 of the descending chair 2, the rake 14 is suddenly turned into the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 4 and causes the jump. in front of the trunk 5 being perhaps still with resistance to friction on the chair 2, the trunk arriving thereby at the slide 7 disposed at the unloading point in front of the cage.
If it is possible without further ado and without difficulty to throw the wood, lowered by the vertical conveyor, with a device similar to that illustrated in figures 1 to 6, it is nevertheless important - especially when it is These are installations which are fed by logs of different lengths and diameters - to ensure that personnel are protected against the dangers resulting from the fact that the logs are different from each other and that they descend at different speeds; is achievable by the arrangement shown schematically by way of example in Figures 7 and 8.
Instead of the inclined plane 6, the throwing roller 25 is provided for this purpose, which engages, with the pulleys 26 with which it is provided, in the recesses of the heel 4 in the manner shown in FIG. 8. Peripheral speed of the pulleys 26, rotating in the direction of the arrow, is adapted to the speed of the weir. The pulleys 26 are toothed at their periphery to prevent the slipping of the logs hitting them after being thrown from the rake, which is especially favored by the fact that, as already mentioned, the circumferential speed of the toothed periphery of the pulleys 26 corresponds at least approximately the speed with which the logs have been lowered so far.
Column-shaped materials sliding on the pulleys 26 are removed from the vertical conveyor and slide over the inclined plane 27 onto the conveyor belt 28, preferably horizontal, which can also be replaced by other conveyors. , for example a cat, etc.
During this passage of the column-shaped materials from the vertical position inside the descender to the horizontal position on the conveyor belt 28, the materials to be transported adopt, among others, the different individual positions shown in dotted lines and little - wind now, without taking a speed solely determined by their weight that could give rise to accidents, be transported to any point of the track using the transport unit (Ribbon) 28, actuated at a adequate speed.
The discharge roller 25 is rationally actuated by the control roller 29 of the conveyor belt 28, by means of a chain 30 or the like, the speed of the conveyor belt 28 then being automatically the same as the peripheral speed of the pulleys. 26 of roll 25.
