CHARRUE (Inventeur C. Isbecque).
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

PLOW (Inventor C. Isbecque).
The present invention relates to a plow.
We know that for certain crops, for example vegetable farming, the topsoil is prepared in teenagers, two successive teenagers or ridges being separated by a channel. To plow soil thus shaped with a plow, each log is turned over by taking the blades of earth alternately on one side and the other of this log. In this way, the initial channels are filled in to form there the midpoints of new logs while new channels come in place of the central parts of the initial logs. During work, each plowed log thus gradually narrows from its edges to reach a width equivalent to the thickness of two contiguous blades which must be turned in opposite directions.
These two blades form a long clod which must be turned over to make room for a ditch. However, this operation cannot be easily carried out by means of currently known plows, especially when a mechanical traction means is used.
The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback by producing a plow capable of completely plowing the logs.
For this purpose, the plow according to the invention is organized to adapt to it a system consisting mainly of a share and a secondary mouldboard, this system being arranged to occupy with respect to the support members of said plow, a symmetrical position of that of the assembly formed by a share and a share and a specific or main share of this plow, the lower edge of the aforesaid secondary share coming to a higher level than the lower edge of the aforementioned main share, the plow being assumed in working position.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the considered level of the lower edge of the aforementioned secondary share is normally that of the upper edge of the aforementioned main share.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the position of the system in question is capable of height adjustment, by displacement in a direction inclined forward and from top to bottom, the plow being considered in the working position.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a plow, given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figures 1 to 4 illustrate the plowing of land shaped as teenagers.
FIG. 5 illustrates a simple plow equipped in accordance with the invention.
Figure 6 is an elevation of the plow shown in Figure 5.
Figure 7 is a section along the line VII-VII indicated in Figure 6.
FIG. 8 illustrates a double reversible plow equipped in accordance with the invention.
Figure 9 is a section on line VIII-VIII indicated in Figure 8.
FIG. 10 illustrates a so-called "square" plow equipped in accordance with the invention.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate identical or similar elements.
The invention relates to an arrangement of an ordinary plow to ensure completely the plowing of a topsoil shaped into teenagers 31 alternating with channels 32. To turn each teenager out of the ridge 31, one passes the plow alternately on one side and on the other, each time taking an earth strip 33 (figures 1 and 2). This fills the channels 32 which give way to the middle parts of new ridges. The work is started normally and continues in this way until the moment when the log 31 being turned has narrowed and has become a long clod 34 the width of which is substantially equivalent to the thickness of two contiguous blades 33. These two blades must then be turned in opposite directions to make way for a new channel.
This operation is carried out in a single pass by equipping the plow in accordance with the arrangements according to the invention.
The plow used is organized to adapt a system 1-2 (Figures 5 to 10) consisting mainly of a share 1 and a secondary mouldboard 2. The system 1-2 is arranged to occupy with respect to the support members, a position symmetrical to that of the assembly 3-4 formed by a share 3 and the corresponding moldboard 4 which are specific to the plow and will be called main. The 1-2 system can be applied to any single or multiple plow. In a multiple plow, it is arranged to cooperate with one of the sets 3-4. The system 1-2 and the group 3-4 associated completely plow a mound 34 by dividing it into two blades 33a and 33b (figure 3) which they turn in opposite directions; they dig a furrow in the form of a channel, which separates two new ridges.
The system 1-2 is secured so that the lower edge 5 of the secondary share 1 comes to a higher level than the lower edge 6 of the main share 3, the plow being considered in working position. The furrow dug by the system 1-2 is therefore shallower than the furrow of the assembly 3-4, leaving, during plowing, a small portion 35 of the wall, which guides the sep 19 and its heel 22.
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the level of the lower edge 5 of the secondary share 1 is normally that of the upper edge 7 of the main share 3.
Furthermore, the length of the secondary share 1 is substantially equal to eight tenths of that of the main share 3. Preferably, the width of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
secondary share 1 is slightly less than that of the main share 3. In addition, this secondary share 1 is designed so that its angle of attack and its cutting angle are practically equal to the angle of attack and the angle of attack respectively. The cutting angle of the main share 3. These arrangements ensure, in fact, a symmetrical distribution of the stresses to which the plow according to the invention is subjected, for good regularity of plowing.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the system 1-2 is capable of height adjustment. This adjustment is carried out by moving the system in a direction inclined forwards and from top to bottom, the plow being considered in the working position. In this way, the relative positions of systems 1-2 and together 3-4 can be adjusted according to the compactness of the plowed soil.
More advantageously still, the system 1-2 can be adapted so that the earth strip 33a that it turns over (FIG. 4) has a section equivalent to that of the strip 33b turned over by the assembly 3-4. An optimum earth balance is thus achieved between two successive logs.
To this end, the system 1-2 occupies an advanced position with respect to the assembly 3-4 (FIG. 9) and is arranged so that its groove 33a slightly overlaps the groove 33b of said assembly (FIG. 4).
In addition, to limit the size of the equipped plow, the dimensions of the secondary moldboard 2 are preferably determined so that the apparent contour thereof does not substantially exceed the apparent contour of the main moldboard 4.
On the other hand, the secondary moldboard 2 having at least one dimension smaller than the corresponding dimension of the main moldboard 4, it is also preferable to give the first a more accentuated curvature than that of the second. An effective symmetry of the plowing of the system 1-2 and of the set 3-4 is thus achieved.
On the other hand, the coulter 1 and the secondary moldboard 2 are, according to the invention, assembled by a back joint cover 8 and, for example, by means of bolts 23 with flush heads o The joint cover 8 is fixed, for example by welding, to a front secondary prop 9 mounted on the plow with the possibility of adjusting its position. In addition, a rear secondary prop 10 joins the rear part of the secondary moldboard 2 to the corresponding end of the front secondary prop 9.
The arrangements according to the invention are applicable to a simple plow among others, which comprises, for example, as working members (Figures 5 to 7) a coulter 24 and a set 3-4. In this case, the front secondary strut 9 is easily secured to the front strut 11 of the assembly 3-4, preferably by screw tracks 12, such as bolts. The tracks 12 are carried by the strut 11 and are engaged in parallel slides 13 presented by the front secondary strut 9. The latter is retained, possibly by interposing washers, by clamping nuts 14 adapted to the tracks 12.
The slides 13 are arranged to be inclined at an angle of the order of 15 to 20 on the vertical, forward and from top to bottom, when the system 1-2 is in the working position.
A multiple plow, in particular a double reversible plow (Figures 8 and 9), is also capable of being equipped in accordance with the invention. The front secondary prop 9 can then be adapted to be secured, for example by means of bolts 15, to brackets 16 preferably mounted on butt plates and arranged to flow onto a cross member 17. This cross member 17 brings together the 'Age 18 to Sep 19 which corresponds to the set 3-4 chosen to cooperate with the device 1-2. It is placed between the two ponds II and 20 correlatives of the set 3-4 considered and is arranged to be inclined from 15 to 20 on the vertical, forwards and from top to bottom, when said set 3-4 is in working position.
The brackets 16, for example two in number, are capable of being fixed to the cross member 17 by pressure screws 21. In addition, a spacer 22, parallel to the age 18, advantageously joins the middle of the crosses 17 at each of the two props II and 20.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The spacer 22 reinforces the assembly of the support members.
As shown in Figure 10, which is a section on a plane perpendicular to age 10, a 1-2 system can also be associated with a 3-4 set of a so-called "square" plow. The securing of the system 1-2 is, for example, carried out analogously to that described above in the case of a simple plow.
The arrangements according to the invention offer the advantage of completely ensuring the plowing of soil shaped into ridges, and this, under the best conditions.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
One could, in particular, apply the arrangements according to the invention to any kind of plow.
It would also be possible to adjust the position of the new system by any ad hoc device, for example deformable parallelograms.
