PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX PONTS POUR RAILS DE SUSPENSION DE RIDEAUX OU DE
TENTURES.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS FOR CURTAIN SUSPENSION TRACKS OR
HANGINGS.
The present invention relates to improvements to bridges or riders for suspension rails for curtains or drapes and relates, in particular, to improvements to systems for fixing to fixed fittings, of bridges to which a rail is attached.
To suspend rails from fittings fixed to the upper part of a bay, such as a window, metal parts are generally used, called “bridges” or: jumpers. ”These bridges or jumpers generally affect a inverted U-section, the sides of which each have, in the vicinity of their end remote from the web, a slot serving for the attachment of a rail of generally I-section, the upper flanges of which pass through the slots in question. In this case, these slots have a T-shape, so that the upper flanges, as well as a part of the web of the rail pass through these slots. In other cases, the bridges are provided at the end of their sides remote from the core, with tabs extending substantially parallel to the core and directed outward.
Various methods of fixing the aforementioned bridges to the fittings are known. The most commonly applied method of fixing consists of providing, in the web of bridges, a hole giving passage to a screw, extending perpendicular to the web and thanks to which the fitting engaged under the web can be tightened. of the bridge, against the upper flanges of the I-rail.
In practice, this method of fixing has various drawbacks. Thus, there is rarely the required space to be able to easily maneuver the screw using a screwdriver. We are therefore often obliged to make use of a wrench or pliers, by which we grasp the head of the screw, so as to make it turn, by exerting a lateral force, which often has the effect of '' damage the screw, or even deform the bridge and / or the rail attached to it.
Another fixing system is also known, in which there is provided, under the core of the bridge, a tab, which extends parallel to this core and which has a hole also providing passage for a screw, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
head is directed downwards. This screw is used to tighten the fitting, inserted between the core of the bridge and the tab parallel to this core, against this core.
With this fixing system, it is also possible, for lack of space, to experience difficulties in properly maneuvering the clamping screw. Furthermore, the cost of bridges equipped with such fixing means is high, compared to that of ordinary bridges provided with the fixing system described in the preceding paragraph.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and is essentially characterized by the fact that the device for clamping a fitting against a rail hooked to the sides of a bridge of substantially U-shaped section consists of a part interposed between the 'soul of the bridge and the fitting, so as to separate the fitting as far as possible from the soul of the bridge and thus tighten this fitting against the rail.
In principle, the intermediate piece can be constituted by a wedge or a similar piece of gradually varying thickness, which tends to move the fitting more and more away from the web of the bridge. However, to facilitate the disassembly of the system, it is preferred, according to a feature of the invention, that the part interposed between the core of the bridge and the fitting is constituted by a screw or a bolt passing through a hole in a lug forming with the underside of the core of the bridge at an angle of between 90 and 130 and advantageously substantially less than 180.
The aforesaid tab may be integral with the core of the bridge and / or the sides thereof.
To ensure effective tightening action of the aforementioned screw, the latter is advantageously guided under the web of the bridge, so as to be directed obliquely towards the fitting.
The guiding of the screw takes place, according to a particular embodiment of the invention, by an oblique hollow formed in the lower face of the core of the bridge, this hollow possibly being formed by pushing the core towards the bottom. high, so as to make this core comprise an outer bead, the height and width of which decrease from the edge of the core, to which the tab'susdite is connected or in the vicinity of which this tab is located. Thanks to the arrangement described above, the guide recess of the clamping screw has a section which gradually decreases from the edge in question of the web of the bridge.
To avoid deformation of the core of the bridge, during insertion between this core and the fitting of the clamping piece or screw, the core is preferably provided with at least one reinforcing rib, which advantageously forms protrusion on the underside of the bridge web.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which schematically and by way of example only show two embodiments of a system according to the invention.
In these drawings: - Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a first embodiment of a system for fixing to a fitting of a bridge or rider, to which a rail is attached; - Figure 2 is a section taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1; - Figure 3 is a perspective view showing a second embodiment of a bridge equipped with means for fixing to a fitting, and - Figure 4 is a section along line 4-4 of Figure 3.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
In Figure 1, there is designated by the reference notation 1 a flat bracket, in the form of a square, fixed by screws 2 in a wooden part 13, which may, for example, be the upper cross member of a frame
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
window It goes without saying that instead of a flat fitting, one can use a fitting of different shape, for example of square section. Likewise, the fitting may be straight and not square and be driven into a wall. The fitting 1 is intended to support a rail 3, through the space of a bridge or jumper, designated, as a whole, by the reference notation 4.
The bridge 4 has, as clearly shown in FIG. 1, a U-shaped section. The sides 5 of the bridge 4 each presenting, in the vicinity of their end remote from the web 6 of the bridge, a slot 7, through which passes. the upper flanges 8 of rail 3 with an I-section. On each side
5 of the bridge 4 are connected wings 9 directed outwards. Between each pair of wings 9 connected to the same side 5 of the bridge is formed a slot 10, providing passage to the web 11 of the rail 3 in I.
Instead of presenting a rectangular slot 7 and wings 9, the sides 5 of the bridge 4 can have a T-shaped slot and be free of wings directed outwards, the attachment of the rail 3 being done in the only T-slots, as is well known to specialists.
In Figures 1 and 2, it can be seen that at its front edge 12, that is to say at its edge furthest from the wall or from the room, such as 13, to which the fitting is attached, the core 6 of the bridge 4 carries a lug 14 inclined, so as to form with the lower face of the web 6 of the bridge, an angle of between 90 and 180. In other words, the tab 14 is inclined towards the outside of the bridge. The inclination of the tab 14 may vary depending on various factors, in particular the thickness or height of the fitting 1, the height of the bridge or of the sides thereof, etc.
In the tab 14 is formed a hole 15 providing passage to a part intended to clamp the fitting 1 against the upper flanges 8 of the rail 3. This part is advantageously constituted by a screw 16.
As clearly shown in Figure 2, the screw 16 is guided, under the web 6 of the bridge 4, in a frustoconical hollow 17, obtained by pushing the core upwards. Thanks to this hollow 17, the screw is guided obliquely towards the fitting 1, which ensures that the latter is properly clamped against the rail and prevents any displacement of the screw.
In the vicinity of the end of the frustoconical hollow 17, opposite its end close to the tab 14, the core 6 of the bridge is provided with a reinforcing rib 18, projecting on the underside of the ornament.
6. In addition to preventing the deformation of the core 6, under the effect of the stresses to which the latter is subjected, when the screw 16 is inserted between the core and the fitting, the reinforcing rib has the effect of forcing the screw 16 to incline as much as possible towards the fitting, which promotes good tightening of the fitting against the rail.
The embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figures 3 and
4 differs from that forming the subject of Figures 1 and 2 by the fact that instead of providing a tab 14 integral only with the web 6 of the bridge, there is provided a tab 19, which is integral with the web 6 of the bridge and which has a part 20 folded towards the inside of the bridge, so as to extend in a direction substantially parallel to the web 6. In this case, the screw 21 has the effect of separating the part 20 of the tab 19, of the core 6 and to apply this part 20 against the fitting 1, so as to clamp the latter against the upper flanges 8 of the rail.
The fixing system described above differs essentially from the known arrangements in that the screw 27 or the like is inserted between the web of the bridge 4 and the fitting 1, from the front side of the bridge, while to the knowledge of the applicant, in other known systems, the clamping screw extends substantially perpendicular to the web of the bridge, which provides: the drawbacks defined above. Thanks to the invention, it is possible to ensure the attachment of bridges to fittings from a previous position, which is, in all practical cases,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
easily accessible, alprs that in the known systems this fixing is operated from the top or the bottom.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and that many modifications can be made to the arrangement, to the constitution and to the form of certain elements involved in its realization, provided that these modifications are not in contradiction with the object of the following claims.
