CADRE.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a frame for supporting in particular a canvas, particularly a wire mesh for protecting against mosquitoes.
It is arranged to be placed in a window, door or the like frame.
The essential feature of the frame according to the invention resides in that it is telescopic. To this end, it is made up of eight tubular elements, the section of which is preferably ornamental. Four of these elements are corner elements 1. They are square and are joined to each other by extensions 2 respectively engaged in the branches 3 of the brackets 1. Means are provided to secure by clamping the extensions 2 to the brackets 1.
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, each end of the extensions 2 is split longitudinally. A screw and nut system 5 is arranged to tighten the end in question in the square branch 3 where it is engaged by opening this end normally at its slot 4.
In a more advantageous embodiment, each system 5 is composed of a dead end nut in two corresponding openings 7 and 8 belonging respectively to an extension 2 and to a square branch 3 The nut 6 has a collar 9 to be retained. by the square branch 3. It carries, on the other hand; a tab 10 which is introduced into the extension 2. The tab 10 is adapted to move away the wall of the extension 2 under the action of a screw 11 engaged in 1-nut 6 and whose tip 12 bears on this wall opposite said nut 6.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, each end of the extensions 2 has a longitudinal groove 7 for the passage of a nut 6. This groove 7 is preferably made to extend parallel to the plane of the slot 4 and to come. in correspondence with holes 8 made in each branch of square 3.
Each branch 3 having, for example, two holes 8. These holes are preferably quadrangular and regularly spaced. To tighten an extension end 2 in a square branch 3, a hexagonal nut 6 is passed through a hole 8 of the branch 3 and into the corresponding groove 7 of the extension end 2, the tab 10 of the nut 6 being inserted into the extension 2. The collar 9 of the nut 6 is stopped at the orifice of the hole 8 of the branch 3; it has, for example, a circular shape and a size sufficient to substantially mask this hole 8. A screw 11 is engaged in the nut 6. The screw 11 is, preferably, self-lost and its top has a polygonal hollow 17 to insert the end of a tightening key.
By turning the screw 11, its point comes to rest on the wall of the extension 2, opposite the nut 6. By the cooperation of the latter and the screw 11, the system 5 produces the opening of the slot 4 of the extension end 2 and press the latter into the square branch 3.
The tubular elements 1 and 2 have holes 13 for tightening screws 18 which fix the canvas to the frame. Advantageously, the canvas is fastened with the interposition of brackets 15 between the heads of the screws 18 and the canvas. Furthermore, the ends of the branches 3 have longitudinal slots 22 for the passage of the screws 18 engaged in the nested ends of the extensions 2. In the illustrated embodiment.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
by the drawings, the section of the tubular elements has a generally rectangular quadrangular shape., A lateral face of the tube has a bulge
19 extending substantially over half of this face which coincides with the outer face of the frame.
The slots 4 of the extensions 2 are parallel to this swollen face and the longitudinal grooves 7 are made in the opposite face. Likewise, in each square branch 3, the holes 8 are made in said opposite face and therefore appear on the face ,. inside the frame. In addition, the central part of the bulge 19 of cha--; that extension 2 is furnished with ornaments 20 which thus take place in the gap between the ends of the branches 3 joined by this extension
2. A cardboard sleeve 21 can be provided to occupy in the same interval, the flat part of the external face of the extension 2 and to compensate for the thickness of the walls of the square branches 3 in order to facilitate the positioning and the fixing of the wire mesh and the appliques 15.
In addition, each square branch 3 carries, towards the top of the latter, an elastic device 16 to cooperate in maintaining the frame in place. This device 16 is, for example, a spring made of a blade fixed to the edge of the frame. Thanks to the devices 16, it obviates the clearances that may arise between the frame and the opening in which it is placed or any irregularities in this opening.
The frame according to the invention is practical and very advantageous, it can be placed in openings whose dimensions differ from one to another.
Thus, a set of four brackets associated with extensions 2 of appropriate lengths will suffice for the current openings. One can, for example, provide four sets of four extensions 2 allowing length variations ranging respectively from zero to one hundred, one hundred to two hundred, two hundred to three hundred and three hundred to four hundred millimeters.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made to it without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
One could, in particular, give the section of the tubular elements any shape deemed useful.
