PROCEDE ET DISPOSITIFS D'ENROULEMENT DES TISSUS AVANT LEUR TRAITEMENT
D'ENNOBLISSEMENT.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

METHOD AND DEVICES FOR WINDING TISSUES BEFORE THEIR TREATMENT
ENOBLISSEMENT.
As is well known, after weaving the textile materials, the fabrics are subjected to a finishing treatment (bleaching, dyeing, etc. ,,)
According to the method currently used, the fabric is handled by mechanical means in a tank containing the bleach or dye bath.
More recently, it has been recommended to do the finishing by circulating the treatment liquid through the fabric wound in the form of a roll.
To treat the tissue in the form of a roll, it must be placed on a rigid perforated member, for example on a perforated tube allowing the bath to pass freely through the mass of tissue. @
The finishing of the fabric in an aqueous bath, however, gives rise to a shrinkage of the fabric, which has the effect of producing a pronounced tightening of the fabric around the tube; this results in the creation of tensile stresses in the fabric roll especially in the width direction of the fabric.
It is a fact that the treatment liquid passes through the fabric layers subjected to unequal tension in a different way, resulting in bars and unevenness in the dyeing.
The object of the invention is to avoid this drawback and for this purpose, there is placed between the rigid perforated member and the tissue to be treated, an intermediate element, permeable to liquid and having sufficient longitudinal elasticity to allow shrinkage. normal width of the fabric.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, this intermediate element can be constituted by a narrow spiral-shaped strip, preferably of steel or of a stainless metal, the diameter of which is slightly greater than that of the stainless steel. rigid organ on which the tissue is rolled up.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
When it is wound up, the fabric will no longer be in 'contact' with the entire surface of the perforated tube, but with the intermediate element itself. The latter, due to its nature and its conformation, 'presents a longitudinal elasticity which leaves complete freedom to the fabric from the point of view of shrinkage or even expansion and prevents the seizure of the first layers of fabric around the perforated tube.
An embodiment of a device allowing the implementation of the method which is the basis of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing.
In this drawing, 1 designates a rigid perforated metal tube and 2 the fabric seen in section wrapped around tube 1.
According to the invention, there is interposed between the tube and the fabric a narrow extensible spiral 3, for example of stainless steel, the height of which corresponds substantially to the length of the fabric.
4 shows a movable cap, the diameter of which is slightly greater than that of the tube 1 and which serves to close the upper part of the tube 1 and to slightly compress the upper edge of the fabric in order to prevent leakage of the treatment liquid between the edge and the hat.
5 is a rod passing through the perforated tube 1 and screwed into a nut 6 placed in the bottom of the perforated tube.
7 is a spring intended to exert a constant and elastic pressure on the cap 4 in order to follow the shrinkage of the fabric.
This spring is held in place by a head 8 provided at the upper part of the rod 5. This head 8 is provided with a gripping ring 9 used to handle the roll of fabric as well as the assembly formed by the tube 1 and the parts which are integral with it.
The perforated rigid tube will usually and in accordance with the most common form for the treatment of fabrics provided at its base with a fixed plate 10 on which the roll of fabric rests at its bottom edge.
The permeable and elastic band may be a metallic wire or a narrow plate wound in a cylindrical helical spiral with spaced turns around the perforated tube, but without being in close contact therewith.
This strip can also be formed by a large number of rings or perforated flat rings, the diameter of which must be slightly greater than that of the tube and which are slipped with a certain space around the rigid tube, at distances to roughly equal to each other. '
We can aùssi place around the perforated tube a sort of metal mesh or other capable of being able to contract.
Preferably, the elastic and permeable band used will be made of stainless steel.
It is also possible to achieve the goal and on the other hand to promote the circulation of the treatment liquid through the fabric by winding in time as the fabric to be treated another fabric made with an elastic material and having no reaction with the treatment liquid, for example a metallic fabric, a glass silk fabric, a fabric or a knitted fabric made of synthetic fibers, etc.: it is understood that at the beginning of the winding on the perforated tube , it will be the neutral tissue that will come into contact with this tube and not the tissue to be treated.
