<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE MECHANICAL MILKING OF DAIRY ANIMALS.
IN WHICH A TRAYON OF ANIMAL IS ENGAGED IN-A TRAYON BUCKET.
The invention relates to a method and a device for the mechanical milking of dairy animals, in which a teat of the milking animal is engaged in a teat bucket and can be taken therein without pressure being exerted on it. .the teat through the cup or part thereof, while intermittently suction is exerted on the teat and air is admitted into the cup, after the suction, to return the pressure in the cup equal or approximately equal to the ambient pressure, without at the same time the extracted milk being discharged from the discharge pipe to. said bucket.
A known method, in which the interior of the teat bucket is in direct communication with the outside air, for example by means of a hole of determined size provided in the bucket., Has the disadvantage that infiltration of Unwanted air can occur. This drawback is smaller the smaller the hole, but in this case the intake of air after suction is more difficult to achieve. On the other hand, if the hole is larger, the vacuum is adversely affected.
According to the invention, air is exclusively admitted into the teat cup during the period following the suction period, and immediately thereafter.
The invention also relates to a device for implementing the method described above.
This device is constructed in such a way that simultaneously with the plugging of the suction line, the admission of air to the teat bucket is made possible. This simultaneity is necessary to prevent the air from being evacuated through the suction line proper without sufficiently removing the vacuum acting on the teat.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, this object is achieved by virtue of the fact that, in the suction line going to the teat bucket, there is provided a deformable part which can be closed and opened due to the existence of a die. - pressure permanently connected to this part, for the purpose of which means are provided to create and periodically eliminate the depression around said deformable part, while simultaneously with the closing off of the deformable part of said pipe, atmospheric air pressure can be admitted inside the teat bucket.
Preferably, a pressure chamber, capable of at least one supply and discharge duct, is provided around the deformable part of the suction duct, such that when atmospheric air is admitted into this chamber, said deformable part closes, while at the same time air is brought inside the teat cup.
By way of demonstration, an exemplary embodiment of the invention will be described below with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows part of a milking machine embodying the invention, and
Fig. 2 is a multi-way joint applied to this machine.
In Fig. 1, the bucket intended to receive a teat is designated by 1, this bucket comprising an open duct 2, in which the teat 3 belonging to the udder 4 can be engaged. The bucket 1 is connected to the multi-way connector 5 , the outlet end of which is connected to a pipe 6 of elastic material. The other end of this pipe 6 is connected to the discharge pipe 7. The pipe 6 is surrounded by a housing 8. Around the pipe 6 is therefore formed a space 9 which is in communication, with a on the one hand, with a device by means of which air is alternately sucked in and fed, and on the other hand with the interior of the teat bucket.
This device works as follows:
There is a constant vacuum in the discharge line 7.
When air is discharged from the space 9 of the housing 8, such that the pressure prevailing in this space is equal or approximately equal to the pressure prevailing in the evacuation pipe 7, the pipe 6 opens.
As a result of the suction of air, a vacuum is created in the teat cup, so that suction is exerted on the teat 3 and the closure valve thereof is opened to allow passage to the teat. milk. The milk thus removed is discharged through the open pipe 6 and the discharge pipe 7. Immediately afterwards, air, preferably purified, is admitted into the space 9 of the housing 8, which has the effect of effect of closing the pipe 6, while at the same time the air arrives in the cup 1. We admit a quantity of air such that the pressure in the cup 1 is equal or approximately equal to the ambient pressure. When air is admitted, there is no return of milk from the discharge line 7 and no pressure is exerted by the cup 1 or the line 2 on the teat 3.
This teat, which has lengthened somewhat under the effect of suction, can therefore resume its initial shape, while the teat cavity can be completely filled with milk. When air is sucked out of space 9 again, pipe 6 opens again and the process can be repeated.
The fitting shown in Fig. 2 mainly comprises a common evacuation pipe 5, into which the connection pipes 10, 11, 12 for the cups open and which can be connected to a pipe 15 bringing the milk to the receiver. Above the outlet openings of the tubes 10, 11 and 12, the multi-way connector is provided with a chamber 13 which is, it is true, in free communication with the duct 15, but is located in an opposite place. to the suction direction.
Chamber 13 is closed by means of a screw cap 14 which can be removed for cleaning of the multi-way connector.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
During milking, the milk arrives through the tubes 10, 11 and 12 in the outlet duct 5 and is discharged further. Under normal conditions the milk does not reach the chamber 13. Thanks to the use of the connection to. multiple lanes according to the invention, it becomes possible, in a simple and effective manner, to eliminate, before the pressure period, the vacuum acting on the teat.
The multi-way connector shown in the drawing is provided with a connecting pipe 16 which can be connected to the device to cause the pressure phase and the suction phase. In addition to this pipe 16, the multi-way connector can have a connection making it possible to connect the chamber 13 directly to the cups containing the teats.
As shown in Fig. 1, the chamber 13 is in communication with a device by means of which the exhaust duct can be periodically opened and closed. When the discharge duct is closed following the admission of air, preferably purified, this air can also enter the chamber 13 and the teat can resume its initial shape, so that the milk can access the teat .
During milking, a suction phase will alternate with a pressure phase.
The construction of the multi-way connector is such that the chamber 13 is located immediately above the tubes 10, 11, 12 connected to the cups containing the teats, in particular at a location opposite to the direction of suction, so that , in the case of regular milk evacuation under normal conditions, there will be no milk in this chamber.
This construction makes it possible to put this chamber in communication with the device causing the pressure phase and the suction phase. After the completion of the sucking phase, the inlet air, preferably purified, will not discharge milk from the discharge line to the teats.
By placing, in addition, said chamber in direct communication with the cups containing the teats, therefore without passing through the other part of the multiple-way coupling and the milk ducts, no milk will be returned from these to the cups either. during the pressure phase.
Arrangements can be made so that the suction of milk vapors, for example., From said chamber during the suction phase does not have a deleterious influence on the device for causing the suction phase and the pressure phase.
In the teat canal and in the teat cavity, a horny substance forms from the epithelial tissue. Especially in the teat canal, this horny mass is, in the case of the known system, continuously compressed as a result of the pressure and, since this occurs 400 to. 600 times a day, and even more, it can result in deterioration of this horny mass, with the consequence that harmful material can enter the teat much more easily to cause disease.
