ECHEVEAU.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

SKEIN.
The present invention relates to a skein in the form of, for example, wool.
It is particularly intended for wool for patching stockings and socks and for upholstery work.
For this purpose, it is formed from strands of substantially the same length, folded in the middle then twisted and then folded so as to bring the loop formed at the location of the first fold near the ends of the strands, the latter being threaded. at least once in the above loop.
In an advantageous embodiment., In the loop formed at the location of the second plia is engaged a label preferably of symmetrical shape with respect to a transverse axis, said label being ,, after engagement in the last aforementioned loop. folded along this transverse axis., the two half-labels thus superimposed being joined, \! for example by gluing.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description and the drawings appended hereto and which represent, by way of non-limiting example, a particular embodiment of the object of the invention. 'invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a skein according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a schematic representation showing how to obtain the skein of figure 1.
Figure 3 is a detail view on a larger scale of Figure 1.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate similar elements.
The skein shown is made from strands such as 1,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
substantially of the same length folded in the middle., that is to say at a point such as that indicated at 2 in fig.2.
In this figure a single strand has been shown and the loops formed by the different parts of the strand have been intentionally enlarged in order to better show how to get there.
The strands bent in the middle are twisted and form a series of loops such as 3, fig. 2.
They are then folded again into two substantially equal parts ;! which is equivalent to forming, in sum, a fold at a point such as 4 in FIG. 2.
Point 2 is then brought near the ends 5 of strands 1.
These ends 5 are then passed twice at 6 and 7 (fig.
2 and 3) in the loop 8 formed at fold 2.
In this way the ends are held and cannot come off.
A small torch is therefore produced which allows without complicated operation to arrive at a very adequate presentation of articles such as mopping wool for example.
In the loop formed at point 4, we can engage a label 9, the shape of which is symmetrical with respect to a transverse axis 10 and which is moreover ,,, after engagement, folded along this axis 10, so that the two half-labels thus superimposed can be brought together, for example by gluing. These two half-labels can, moreover, bear various indications giving, for example, the logo or the distinctive mark of the article thus presented,
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and that many modifications can be made to the latter without departing from the scope of the present application.
Thus the ends 5 of the strands 1 could be threaded not only in the loop 8, but also in the loops preceding the latter.
The number of times these ends are passed or threaded in one or more end loops can be changed.
The arrangement of the different strands can be used not only for the wool to be mended ,. but also for the presentation of skeins of thread or silk ,,, preferably the remainder in all cases where it is a question of retaining a small quantity of threads.
