La figure 1 est une vue en élévation de l'appareil.répandeur de gravillons;

GRAVILLON SPREADER.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for spreading gravel.
The main feature of the device'susdit is that ,. unlike other known devices which are adapted to the rear of the tractor unit operating in reverse, it constitutes as a whole a trailer which is pushed forward during work.
For this purpose) the device, in the working position, is hitched to the front of a truck which pushes it forward, so that the wheels of the device, like those of the prime mover, roll on a carpet of gravel already formed and without prejudice to it.
One of the embodiments of the present invention is described below, by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the chippings spreader;
Figure 2 is a cross-sectional view along A A 'of the apparatus shown in Figure 1; Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view along B B 'of the apparatus shown in Figure 1.
The apparatus, entirely metallic, consists of two gravel reservoirs 1 and 2, in the form of a hopper, of equal capacity, each carried, on either side, by an axle 3, mounted on four pneumatic wheels. -

ticks 4 paired two by two.
The device is coupled to a motor vehicle by a coupling arm 5, consisting of an adjustable V following the height of said motor vehicle - the device, not including the coupling, has, for example a width of 3m50. Its width, overall, is 2.50m, for example. For convenience of loading, its height preferably does not exceed lm20.
In the embodiment envisaged, the volume of the gravel transported is of the order of 3m3, which makes it possible to produce, per device, a strip of gravel of 2m50 in width and approximately 100m in length.
While the device is in operation, the hopper 2, located at the front in the direction of travel, spreads two parallel bands of gravel, separated by an empty space of lm25, for example, and of width equal to the total width of the two aforesaid bands. Consequently, the wheels 4 of the apparatus roll on the aforesaid two belts without prejudice to the binder spilled. The aforementioned empty space is then filled by the rear hopper 1.
The distribution of the gravel is ensured by three spreader rollers 6, made of corrugated sheet metal. Two rollers 6 are located at the front, the third at the rear. The rollers 6 are driven by chains 7 and pinions 8, controlled by a gear device, for example, by the wheels 4 of the apparatus. The result is equality in the dosage regardless of the speed of spreading. On the other hand, a disengagement device allows the instantaneous immobilization of the rollers 6, which stops the spreading at will.
The gravel loaded in the hoppers 1 and 2 descends by gravity on the rollers 6, by a light produced by four movable shutters 9. The operation of the shutters 9 makes it possible to vary the dosage of the loose gravel. The combined closure of the flaps 9 makes it possible to achieve spreading widths equal to, for example, a quarter, a half or ¯ to three quarters of the maximum width.
For road travel, the device is hitched to the rear of the prime mover, of a truck, for example, like an ordinary trailer.
