<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

DEVICE FOR LEVELING AN ELEVATOR CABIN.
In lifts and freight elevators it very often happens that the car does not stop exactly at the landing, which is a danger, in particular in the case of devices whose car does not have doors at the exit. the cage being simply closed by a landing door.
The present invention relates to a device for bringing to the exact level of the landing, when stopping, an elevator car or lift car; it relates especially to devices in which the cabin does not have a door.
According to the invention, provision is made to provide the landing door of an elevator shaft with a means of controlling the movement of the cabin in the direction necessary to bring it to the exact level.
In one embodiment, the means for controlling the movement of the car comprises an element integral with the landing door and constituted for example by the axis of the lower hinge of said door provided with a sector against which abut electrical contacts when.!) when the door is opened., the car is not stopped at the exact level of the floor.
The electrical contacts fixed to the car.!) At superimposed levels, are two in number and control the movement of the latter in one or the other direction
Other particularities will appear in the following description of the accompanying drawings, given by way of example. (1) of an embodiment of the invention.
The figures are partial schematic front and plan views of part of an elevator shaft provided with a device according to the invention.
In a cage, the walls of which are shown at 2, moves a cabin partially shown at 3. This cabin is driven in a known manner by cables not shown, pulled by a motor.

Electrical contacts such as 4 and 5 are mounted on the cabin 3 at different levels. The axis 6 of the lower hinge 7 is extended and made integral at its lower end with a sector 9 which rotates when the door is opened. 80
One of the contacts for example 4 closes the circuit for driving the car in the upward direction and the other 5 closes the circuit for driving in the downward direction.
The device according to the invention operates in the following simple way. When the car stops above level 10 of the first floor or floor, contact 5 is located opposite sector 9. From 1- ' opening of the landing door 8 this sector 9 rotates and abuts against contact 5, the circuit is closed and the car goes down to. that the contact has reached a level lower than that of the mains, which has the effect of cutting off the current and instantaneously stopping the descent of the cabin.
If the car stops below level 10 of the floor, contact 4 is actuated by sector 9 when the landing door is opened, this closes the motor circuit which drives the cabin up ,.
The device described above is advantageous in that it automatically restores the level of the cabin when the cage door is opened.
