Cette invention a pour but principal d'obvier à un inconvénient de cette jonction connue, inconvénient qui consiste en ce que les parties d'extrémité, s'engageant à l'intérieur des tuyaux, de la bague rapportée et la bague elle-même représentent un étranglement exerçant une influence défavorable sur les conditions d'écoulement à l'intérieur de la buse d'aé- rage;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

JUNCTION FOR VENT NOZZLE PIPES.
This invention relates to a junction for the pipes of aeration nozzles, as used to supply fresh air to work places in underground mining.
Particularly good results have been obtained with a junction of pipes of ventilation nozzles which consists of a sleeve, threaded on the ends, reinforced by collars or flanges, pipes of the ventilation nozzles, and provided, on its ends. edges, of beads, parts of which facing inward are applied to the lateral surface of the pipes by their own tension, ensuring the seal only in a narrow area, while the end faces of the pipes beads on the edges of the sleeve apply simultaneously against the front faces of the collars or edges of the pipes.
In this known junction, the junction place is, for its reinforcement and for its protection against forces in the transverse direction, covered by a ring, attached to the inside, which extends through its parts of 'end in the two pipes of the ventilation nozzle and which has a bead in its middle and engages between the reinforced parts, in the form of collars, of the ends of the pipes.
The main object of this invention is to obviate a drawback of this known junction, a drawback which consists in that the end parts, engaging inside the pipes, of the attached ring and the ring itself represent a restriction exerting an unfavorable influence on the flow conditions inside the ventilation nozzle;
the front faces of the ring, which protrude strongly, additionally give rise in these places to the formation of eddies. The yield or. The flow rate of the ventilation nozzle is influenced considerably in an unfavorable direction.
To avoid these difficulties, it is proposed, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, to accommodate the ring at the junction location in a recessed portion, that is to say to increase the diameter. of the end parts of the pipes, over the width to be covered by the ring
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
interior, corresponding to the thickness of this ring, preferably with a smooth transition from the normal diameter to the end portions of increased diameter. It thus becomes possible, despite the arrangement of this reinforcing ring, to avoid any constriction at the location of the junction.
According to an additional characteristic of the invention, the portion of increased diameter, receiving this ring, can, with a corresponding increase in the width of the ring, extend beyond the reinforcing ribs, with rounded profile, formed in the material of the pipes, in the vicinity of the ends thereof, so that these ribs, or the rounded cavities formed by them, are covered by the attached inner ring, thus giving a completely smooth surface from the inside wall of the air vent.
According to another embodiment of the invention, serving the same purpose, it is avoided, while retaining the additional protection of the location of the junction in the junctions of ventilation nozzle pipes of the basic type described, the constriction of the cross section of the ventilation nozzle and the danger of the formation of eddies, by the fact that the inner ring is replaced by a sheet metal sleeve, covering the entire junction, outside and in a certain distance; this sleeve, tightened by a wedge closure, is fixed to the side surface of the ventilation nozzle. In this case, the reinforced parts in the form of collars at the ends of the pipes come into direct contact with each other, which gives rise to a narrower sleeve of elastic material, threaded over the ends of the pipes.
This sheet metal sleeve also represents a protection for the rubber sleeve; it imparts high axial stability to the entire junction and also makes it very easy to change a ventilation nozzle or a deformed rubber sleeve.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example the two preferred embodiments of the invention:
Figure 1 shows the first in a side elevational view, partially in section; Figure 2 shows the second, also in a side elevational view, partially in section.
In the drawing, a and b denote the ends of the two ventilation nozzle pipes to be connected together; c 'and c "denote the reinforced parts, in the nature of collars, the ends of the pipes, reinforced parts in which, for example, a metal wire or the like may be incorporated; d denotes the rubber sleeve, ensuring the junction proper and comprising on its edges beads d 'and d ", which engage, in the manner previously described, behind the reinforced parts c' and c" of the ends of the pipes.
In the embodiment according to figure 1, the diameter of the end portions of the pipes is, as indicated at e 'and', increased by the thickness of the internal insert ring f, which may present, in a known manner , a part in depression located in the interval between the flanges c 'and c "of the ends of the pipes.
The possibility of increasing the diameter of the end parts of the pipes over such a distance, and of giving the inner ring f a width such that this ring also covers reinforcing ribs, with a rounded profile, formed in the material of the pipes, on the side of the collars or rims c 'and c "is not shown in the drawing.
As shown in Figure 2, the flanges or rolled edges c 'and c "at the ends of the pipes are directly in contact with each other, end to end, and the sleeve d has basically the same shape as in the case of Figure 1 or known junctions, but is correspondingly narrower.
The sheet metal sleeve g, which is to be fixed in place by means of a wedge closure or the like, covers the junction place,

outside and at a certain distance from it.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown and described, but that they can be modified from many points of view, without departing from its principle.
