En vue d'une description plus claire de l'invention, on s'en référera dans ce qui suit aux dessins en annexe, sur lesquels : la figure 1 est une coupe verticale à travers un appareil de mélange suivant l'invention, portant à chaque extrémité une paire de pa- lettes en forme d'ailettes, inclinées dans la même direction par rapport à l'axe de l'appareil, les lignes pointillées B' indiquant que les pa- lettes peuvent être inclinées en sens opposé à celui représenté, si on le désire; la figure 2 est une vue en plan de l'appareil; la figure 3 est une vue en perspective prise du dessus de la paire de palettes à l'extrémité supérieure de l'appareil;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

MIXING APPARATUS.
The invention relates to a mixing apparatus constructed more particularly for use in kitchen operations or similar household operations, for mixing by shaking, for example shaking by hand, ingredients, such as than mixing powders with liquids.
In accordance with the present invention, a mixing apparatus is constructed for use in cooking operations and the like for mixing with each other, by shaking the apparatus, substances such as powders and liquids placed in the apparatus. the apparatus, the mixing apparatus comprising a container and a cover for that container and being characterized by the existence, within at least one end of the apparatus, of protruding fin surfaces against which the contents of the device are capable of projecting when shaken. apparatus, and thus to be deviated from their trajectories of movement and to be mixed with each other.
According to another feature of the invention, the fin surfaces are placed on an inwardly projecting protuberance at their end of the apparatus, and each of these surfaces has the shape of a sector, when looks in the direction of the axis of the protuberance, and extends outside that axis and is in a plane or in the vicinity of a plane different from that in which the other or the others are located. surfaces of the fins, and each of these planes cuts obliquely the axis of this protuberance, and the neighboring ends of the surfaces of successive fins around the axis of the protuberance, are connected, in stages, by surfaces extending in the general direction of the axis of the apparatus.
Further, each of these fin surfaces is preferably uniplanar such that any line drawn on any of these surfaces from the axis of the protuberance is a line.

right.
It is also desirable to provide the interior surface of the peripheral or side wall of the apparatus with stops or shoulders to aid in crushing and mixing of materials in the apparatus during shaking.
In such a formation, the apparatus is constructed so as to receive and contain the ingredients to be mixed, and then to be shaken (for example while being held in the hand), the apparatus providing during operation a rapid and intimate mixture of these ingredients. The lid of the apparatus best fits over the upper end of the container portion of this apparatus, exerting a wedging action so as to form a liquid tight seal therewith. Thus, the exterior of the upper end of the container and the lower portion of the interior of the lid may have corresponding conical shapes so as to closely match each other.
The apparatus can be constructed of any desired material or a combination of any materials, such as metal, glass, plastics, or the like.
With a view to a clearer description of the invention, reference will be made in what follows to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a vertical section through a mixing apparatus according to the invention, relating to each end a pair of fin-shaped paddles inclined in the same direction with respect to the axis of the apparatus, the dotted lines B 'indicating that the vanes may be inclined in the opposite direction to that shown , if desired; Figure 2 is a plan view of the apparatus; Figure 3 is a perspective view taken from above of the pair of paddles at the upper end of the apparatus;
Figures 4 to 6 are views similar to Figures 1 to 3, but show another form of construction of the mixing apparatus carrying an increased number of paddles on its upper and lower interior surfaces.
As is generally shown in the drawings, the mixing apparatus of the invention is contained in a container A having the general shape similar to a cup or similar shape, the bottom of which bears on its inner surface, an upwardly directed protuberance provided at its upper surface with a number of radially extending, inclined, flat fin surfaces forming vanes B inclined with respect to each other in a manner analogous to the vanes of a thruster.
The container A has a removable cover C, the inner surface of which is provided with a protuberance also provided with vanes B, which protrude downwards and have a shape similar to those on the bottom of the container. AT.
Preferably, the cover C is constructed so as to fit over the upper end of the container A by exerting a wedging action, so as to form between these parts a liquid tight seal.

The mixing apparatus shown in Figures 1 to 3 of the drawings carries a pair of paddles B formed as stated above, placed in the center of its upper and lower ends, and placed so that the inclined paddle surfaces correspond. - both ends of the device are in a relative parallel position.,
Figures 4 to 6 of the drawings show a modified model of apparatus according to the invention, bearing a higher number (three) of pallets (formed as described above) than the apparatus shown in the drawings. Figures 1 to 3, the pallets at one end of the apparatus being placed in the opposite direction to the pallets placed at the other end
The container is also constructed having a cross-sectional dimension decreasing from top to bottom,
or towards its two ends, in a series of stages a so as to form a number of shoulders on its interior surface, at spaced places along the height of the container.
In order to use the apparatus, the ingredients to be mixed are placed in the container, and the cover is applied to the container to make it airtight. The device is shaken by hand and during this time, the paddles B act on the contents of the device, when it travels from one end of it to the other, to communicate a movement to it. swirling so as to achieve complete and intimate agitation of all the masso The shoulders help the agitation and the complete mixing of the materials contained in the apparatus.
When the apparatus is provided with vanes arranged in opposite directions at both ends, more efficient agitation and mixing can be obtained by the reverse vortex movements thus produced of the materials to be treated in the apparatus.
