A SUSPENDED CRADLE BICYCLE The present invention relates to a bicycle provided with a cradle mounted on springs offering the advantage that the driver and his luggage are suspended and sheltered from the bumps of the road.

Figure 1 shows the entire bicycle.

The frame has a new shape better suited to the lines of current motor cars. This frame while keeping its general appearance can be built either in sheet metal, stamped, or in small twin tubes or even in a single tube as usual. part 4 in these three construction methods, constitutes a connecting part between parts I and 2 of the frame fig.I thus allowing the force made on the crankset to be distributed over these parts I and 2. In the top of the tube direction is welded a socket 5 fig.II perpendicular to it and serving as a support for the pivot of the cradle u.

On either side of the rear fork are mounted two plates 6 fig.IV forming a body with the frame between which is fixed the rear hub, they follow a specific shape; they are lightened and form the seat of the suspension spring 7 of the cradle fig. IV which is semi-elliptical in shape and has a stop loop at its end.

The latter is fixed to the part 6 by means of a stud passing through the blades and a flange 8 provided with a buttonhole tightened by a bolt. This method of fixing makes it possible to remove or add spring leaves according to need.

The cradle can be made of stamped sheet metal, or in a single tube forming a fork at the rear or simply by two small twin tubes extending from the fork crown to the ends of the springs; these tubes 9 and 9b have at each end a small socket 10 and 10b perpendicular to the tube. A bolt goes through the sleeve 10 of the tube 9 then into the sleeve 5 and finally through the sleeve IOb of the tube 9 b we thus obtain the pivot of the cradle fig. II Towards the middle of the cradle is mounted the sleeve, of the saddle foot II this has two housings allowing the tubes 9 and gb to be clamped there and kept apart, the whole being fixed by small studs; this assembly allows the room to be moved forward or backward fig.III.

To this part II is fixed the luggage carrier 12 made of lighter tubes 13 and 13 b which also have at their end a small perpendicular bush 14. a bolt passes through the bush 14 through the mouth of the, spring then into the bush of the tube 9 b fig.IV and fixes everything in this way the weight of the passenger and his luggage is distributed on either side of each spring thus avoiding their torsion.

The cradle can be built without the luggage rack, in this case the tubes 9 and 9 b end at the rear with a yoke 15 in which the spring Fig.IV is held.

By examining the assembly Fig.I we notice that the load (passenger and luggage), by the application of the cradle is distributed: the on the fork crown, 2o on the plates 6 above the rear wheel axle. , this allows to build a very light frame.

The ladies' bicycles will have the same frame as the men's one except that the cradle will have an appropriate shape as shown by the dotted line in fig.I it will therefore be sufficient to change the cradle to obtain a lady's bicycle or a man's bicycle.
