<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

!Àe tube coudé formé par les deux coudes C,C est vissé, comme le coude suivant la figure z, par l'une de ses extrémités dans la boîte de branchement 1... servant de socle, tandis que son autre extrémité est vissée dans l'armature de lampe B . La bague à visser 26. disposée sur la partie termi- ne-le vissée dans la boîte, permet également une orientation correcte par rapport à la boîte.
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

The invention relates to a lighting apparatus for wet rooms, comprising a connection box serving as a base for the lighting apparatus, and a lamp frame, comprising a socket for a bulb and a holder for a glass, this frame being fixed to the branch box in place of a cover. An already known lighting device of this type comprises a ceiling light and an oblique wall light.

The object of the invention is to create a lighting device for wet rooms comprising a connection box serving as a base, and a lamp frame, comprising a socket for a bulb and a support for the glass, said frame being fixed on the base in the manner of a cover, this equipment not only allowing the constitution of ceiling lights and oblique wall lights, but, in addition, that

Thus, the invention firstly provides an interchangeable constituent element in the form of an elbow or bent tube having approximately the same diameter as the box and capable of being fixed at its ends to the branch box.

tutives in the form of a cover, rigid or mobile suspended frames connect the connection box and: The lamp by a piece of target or tube, fixed in the sealing boxes of the lids mounted on the box and the frame, by tightening or screwing.
As emerges from the foregoing, the invention makes it possible to produce, by inserting as desired one or two constituent elements having the shape of an elbow or an angle, or by
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
using two covers mounted on the junction box and the lamp frame, or by removing these constituent elements and immediately fixing the frame to the box, four different lighting devices, namely an oblique wall light, a wall light elbow, a suspended frame and a simple ceiling light. This not only means a substantial extension of the lighting equipment, but at the same time has the advantage that this extension is obtained by simple means.
This is because the number of component parts required for the various lighting devices is comparatively small, on the one hand, and the additional component parts used in addition to the connection box and the lamp frame. , namely: the elbow or the angle and the two covers, have a simple shape, on the other hand, so that they can be manufactured using comparatively simple pressing tools. A particular advantage consists in the fact that the lamp frame only needs to be made in one model, namely in the short-length one, intended or single ceiling lamp.
This eliminates the second embodiment which was extended and therefore difficult to manufacture. It is replaced by the single elbow. Finally, the lighting fixtures according to the invention offer a fine appearance. This is also true for appliques made using the elbow.
In fact, the elbow can have the same diameter as the curved extension of the frame of the known oblique wall lamp, so as to be connected in a harmonious manner to the lamp frame and to the wall box in order to to give a harmonious unified form to the wall lamp, made up of three or four elements.

rubber sealing and sealing fittings, while closing plugs are screwed into the other tubes to prevent dust or other buildup in the hollow spaces.
But given that these tubes are, moreover, still closed by the partitions of unbroken closures, the total hermetic closure of the box is ensured despite the existence of tubes, which are not used for the introduction of targets. .
Finally, according to the invention is used as a base for the lighting apparatus, preferably a branch box in which the inlet pipes for the cables are located substantially in the base surface of the box so as to be arranged on the lower side of the bottom of the box and open into a common opening thereof.
In this way, the plinth has a comparatively small base area, while at the same time giving a pleasing appearance to the luminaires, since at the place of the introduction of the conductors, only the connections of the boxes. The seals protrude under the bottom of the box, while all other tubing terminates flush with the base surface of the box.
On the appended drawing which shows an embodiment of the invention:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a ceiling lamp, the section passing in the lower part (i.e. in the lamp frame) through AA, and in the upper part (i.e. in the base of the lighting device) by AB in figure B.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the base of the lighting apparatus, partially cut away along C-C of Figure 1.
FIG. 3 is a view in elevation, partly in section, of an oblique bracket.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
Figure 4 is an elevational view of an angled bracket.
FIG. 5 is an elevational view, partly in axial section, of a suspended frame.
In all lighting devices, the base 1 ... is formed by a substantially circular connection box made of molded insulating material, comprising four inlet pipes 1 arranged in a cross. These tubes are arranged on the lower side of the bottom of the box, inside the base surface thereof, and all open into a central opening 3 in the bottom. The four pipes 1 comprise an internal thread and are closed behind the thread, relative to the interior of the box, by a partition 4 which is liable to be broken.
In here where the tubes 1 used for the introduction or the passage of targets, is introduced, as shown in the upper left part of FIG. 1, a rubber sleeve 5 serving as a sealing member, then one Screw therein, then, a sealing connector 6 serves to compress the rubber sleeve around the cable. The thin wall 4 is broken so as to unblock the tubing and to allow the cable to penetrate into the box. The other tubes 1 remain closed by the thin walls 4 and are screwed in closure plugs 7, as shown in FIG. 2, to prevent fouling of the tubes, and to ensure a better appearance.
In two opposite places, the box is provided with feet 8 arranged between the pipes 1 and comprising bores 9 intended for the passage of screws, with the help of which the base formed by the connection box can be fixed to the ceiling or to a wall. . The bottom 2 of the box comprises, on the annular face surrounding the central opening 3, two opposed fitting tenons 9 ', only one of which is visible in the drawing. The 9 'tenons are used to

the fitting of a terminal stone having the shape of a solid ring or of a half ring, that is to say of a base of insulating material, provided with branch terminals.
Such a terminal stone is mostly used when the cable is taken out of the box again to be led to a second light fixture or another outlet. However, it can also be used, when the cable inserted into the connection box does not lead directly to the lamp frame, but is intended, as for example in the case of a suspended frame, to be connected to a separate cable leading to the armature. The edge or envelope of the boot 4 has a thread 10 serving, depending on the type of the lighting device, for screwing the lamp frame, an elbow interposed between the box and the frame, or of a cover.
All light fixtures have a B lamp format with bulb socket and glass holder. The frame, which is the same for all lighting devices, has substantially the shape of a round boot with a bottom angled forward. The casing II of the frame has a sturdy internal thread 12 for screwing a glass globe. On the bottom 13 there is a sealing ring 14 of rubber or the like, against which the glass globe can be clamped. At its center, the base 13 of the lamp frame comprises the base body 15, in one piece with said base, of a bulb socket, this body being open at the front and at the rear.
A threaded sleeve 17 of an insulating material, comprising a protective collar 16, is screwed into an internal thread of the front extremite of the body 15. This threaded sleeve supports a contact stone 18 resting against an internal shoulder of the body 15. socket body, this bearing stone, as known per se,
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
the contacts for the bulb, namely a central elastic contact 19 and two elastic lateral contacts 20, as well as the corresponding connection terminals for the electric conductors. A rubber sealing ring 21 is inserted between the contact stone 18 and the shoulder of the socket body 15, so as to prevent any penetration of moisture.
On its rear face, the lamp frame B has an appendage or tubular edge 22 having an external thread capable of cooperating with the internal thread of the connection box a. The threaded edge 22 is surrounded by an annular face in which is embedded a sealing ring 23 made of rubber.
In the ceiling lamp according to Figures 1 and @, the lamp frame B is screwed, by its rear edge or appendage 22, into the junction box A in the manner of a cover. During this operation, the sealing ring 23 is clamped on the edge of the box so as to ensure a hermetic seal thereof. As emerges from the above, the ceiling light has, in principle, only two constituent elements, namely the connection box A serving as a base, and the lamp frame B.
For an oblique wall light according to FIG. 3, in addition, apart from the connection box and the lamp frame B, a constituent element C having substantially the shape of an elbow is used. It consists, in fact, of a bent tube with an arc length of about 45 which has two short and rectilinear end parts. The elbow C, the diameter of which is only appreciably smaller than that of the connection box A, has at its end an external thread 24 corresponding to the internal thread 10 of the box A, while its other end carries a thread. interior 25 corresponding to the threaded edge 28 of the lamp frame B.
On its end fitted with an external thread, the

elbow comprises a screw ring 26, bearing in its front face

EMI10.2
connection # &, and we then screw the bzz ring in the manner of a lock nut towards the .. fscan box to tighten it against the opening edge of the latter. The screw ring 26 thus allows, on the one hand, an exact orientation of the elbow with respect to

to the box, while ensuring, on the other hand, a closure t: J..Q che of the connection box, thanks to the rubber ring ::. 7.
The lamp frame B is screwed into the other end of the elbow C using appendix 2, the application of the rubber brgue against the edge of the elbow also ensuring a tight seal.
To constitute an elbow bracket according to FIG. 4, two elbows C of the aforementioned type are combined, by screwing one of the elbows by its end carrying the external thread in the end of the other elbow ¯: .unite with the internal thread. During this operation, the two elbows are oriented with respect to each other in such a way that their planes of curvature coincide, so that these two elements form an elbow or an elbow tube having two branches forming

between them an angle of ± 0. tightening the screw-on ring 26 adjacent to the junction place, the two elbows are blocked on each other, making, at the same time, the

seal.
The elbow tube formed by the two elbows C, C is screwed, like the elbow according to figure z, by one of its ends in the junction box 1 ... serving as a base, while its other end is screwed in the lamp frame B. The screw ring 26. disposed on the end part screwed into the box, also allows correct orientation with respect to the box.
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
For a suspended frame according to figure 5, apart from the connection box A and the lamp frame B, two other constituent elements are used, namely a cover D comprising an external thread which fits on the box. connection as well as a small flange 28 carrying a sealing ring 20, and a second cover E which has an internal thread which fits on the lamp frame Both covers are provided with a central cable entry consisting of a sleeve 30 integral with the cover, -The sleeves 30, which are provided with an internal thread,
each include a rubber sealing sleeve as well as a sealing plug 32 for compressing said sleeve. To constitute a suspended frame, the end parts of a cable end 33 are introduced into the sealing boxes of the two covers D and E, to fix them there permanently by the compression of the rubber sleeves 80, while ensuring their sealing. Cover D is screwed into box A, while the other cover E is screwed onto the rear threaded edge of the lamp frame, sealing being provided by rubber rings 29 and 23. Instead of the rubber cable 33, it is also possible to use a tube which is crossed by the conductors leading to the lamp frame.
In this case, instead of the mobile suspended armature resulting from the use of a cable, a rigid suspended armature is obtained. The rigid tube can be wedged in the sealing boxes of the covers D, E in the manner of the target end 33. However, it is also possible to screw, into the threaded bores of the bushings 30, an end of tube provided. an external thread at both ends, - .. after removing the sealing plugs 32 and the sealing sleeves 31.
We can modify the examples described and design

other embodiments and other applications, without departing from the scope of: The invention. So one could use, at the. Place of the branch box shown, having inlet pipes arranged inside the base surface of the box under the bottom thereof, also another branch boot to force the plinth. To constitute the angled wall lamp according to FIG. 4, one could also use, instead of an elbow formed by the two elbows C used for the oblique wall lamp, a single intermediate elbow-shaped piece having a length of arc of 90, or two branches forming between them an angle of 90.
This elbow is, like the one shown in the drawing, provided at one end with an external thread adapting to the connection box and with a screw ring 26, and at the other end with a internal net to fit on the lamp frame B.
both the short intermediate piece C shown in the drawing and the longer intermediate piece which has just been described can be bent in an angular fashion instead of being bent in an arc, so as to present two straight branches joining together with formation of a bias. Instead of screwing the constituent elements of the lighting fixtures directly onto one another, they can be connected to each other using particular screws - as in previously known lighting fixtures.
The ends of the elbows or angular tubes C and the covers D, E are then fitted with a small flange or a small flange with passage holes for the fixing screws instead of the sealing ring shown at 31, one could provide, to ensure the tightness of the lamp frame at the location of the socket dour the bulb, a membrane, clamped by its outer edge between the contact stone 18 and the inner shoulder of the sleeve body 15, this membrane comprising one or, preferably, two holes provided with a
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
small appendage for the sealed introduction of the cable or conductors thereof.
The example described and shown can, moreover, be modified so that the connection boot A, the rear edge 22 of the lamp frame B, and the two ends of the elbows or angles C have the same thread. , in particular an external thread. The fixing of the lamp frame on the box or the elbow, or the fixing of the elbow on the box or a second elbow, is then carried out using a threaded ring involving the two elements to be assembled, as per example using a ring comprising an internal thread in the manner of a connecting sleeve for tubes.
In this case, the covers used for the hanging frame also have equal threads, for example internal threads, so that the same cover can be used for: The boot and the frame Which must be manufactured only according to a single embodiment.
