"SECHOIR A CHARIOTS"
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Fig. 13 indique un séchoir à plusieurs chariots.
'Le séchoir représenté en fig. 1 à 3 comprend une enve- loppe calorifugée 1 avec porte d'entrée 2. A l'opposé de celle-ci une cloison 3 détermine un carneau 4 au-dessus duquel se trouve disposé un ventilateur 5 dont le refoule- ment dirigé vers le bas débouche dans ledit carneau 4 par une- tuyère divergente 6'avec aubes directrices' 7. Au dé-
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"TROLLEY DRYER"
The invention relates to dryers in which the materials to be dried are carried by trolleys which are locked in appropriate rooms or cabinets.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
are crossed by a current of hot air. It aims to 'achieve a machine or installation more flexible and with better performance than it has been possible to do so far using known constructions.
According to the invention, each drying trolley comprises an air blowing duct opening at one of the ends of the trolley so as to be connected in a sealed manner with an air inlet provided at the bottom of the dryer. .
The air blowing duct is preferably connected to an air distributor box placed in the middle of the cart and which has orifices suitably placed so as to distribute the air as evenly as possible over the materials to be dried. . This distribution can vary according to the nature of said materials and one can imagine a certain number of different carriages depending on the specific case and the various ways to be treated, all these carriages being able nevertheless to cooperate without difficulty downstream of the same dryer.
The dryer can be with one or more carts. In the latter case, there may be as many air inlets as there are carriages, or else each carriage may have a blowing duct opening at its two ends so as to allow several carriages one behind the other, their successive ducts connecting to each other to form a continuous duct of drying air. The free end of the sheath of the last carriage must then be closed by any suitable means, for example by the door of the dryer itself.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will give a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it predicts.

feel and the benefits it is likely to provide:

Fig. 11 and 12 show two possible embodiments of air distribution outfits for the central duct of the carriage.
Fig. 13 indicates a dryer with several carriages.
'The dryer shown in fig. 1 to 3 comprises an insulated casing 1 with an entrance door 2. Opposite this a partition 3 determines a flue 4 above which is placed a fan 5, the discharge of which is directed towards the outlet. bottom opens into said flue 4 by a divergent nozzle 6 'with guide vanes' 7. At the start
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
plugged with nozzle 6, casing at 4 contains a heating coil 8.
The partition 3 has at its lower part an orifice 9 in front of which are arranged air deflectors 10.
The fan 5 is driven by an electric motor or other 11, and it sucks the air through a channel 12 having a large mesh opening 13 allowing the air to be taken up at the upper part of the casing 1. The channel 12 itself opens to the outside via a chimney 14 for fresh air intake provided with an adjustment valve 13. The casing also comprises a valve 16 for exhausting saturated air and the two valves ( or butterflies) 15 and 16 are controlled in the same direction by the same control 17.
The carriage intended to cooperate with the apparatus thus described consists of a frame 128 mounted on wheels 19 capable of rolling sor desrails guide 20. The frame 18 carries a body 21 open upwards. On its face, -inferior is fixed a sheath 22 closed to. one of its ends and opening to the other at the front of the carriage and in such a way that when the latter is fully engaged in the dryer, the opening of 1 said sheath comes to press against the orifice 9 the face of which is provided with an appropriate non-detailed seal, preventing any untimely air leakage.
The sheath 22 is extended vertically by a kind of box 23, with a vertical section in the form of an inoculated triangle, the walls of which are perforated with holes 24.
The operation is as follows:
The box 21 being filled with the material to be dried (for example loose textile fibers) the fan 5 sends
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
a current of air in the flue 4. This air is heated on the coil 8, passes through the orifice 9 in the blowing duct 22 from where. it ends in the air distributor box 23 which, through the holes 24, distributes it throughout the mass of. material to dry.
From there it escapes through the upper part of the body 21 and is partly taken up by the mesh opening 13, partly discharged by the butterfly 16, the quantity of discharged air being compensated by a re-entry, by butterfly 15. '
It will be understood that the same dryer can accommodate the most diverse types of carriages on the sole condition that they all comprise an air blowing duct 22, the opening nozzle of which is suitably arranged. Various carriages can be arranged according to the different materials to be dried without having to take into account the arrangement of the dryer itself.
The carriage shown in, freezes 4 is similar to that of FIG. 1 and 2, but its side walls have two hinged panels 21a which can be opened to facilitate the unloading of the material treated by avoiding having to go to draw it from the box or overturn the cart.
In the carriage of fig. 5 the walls of the box 21 are screened and a solid cover 21b is provided.
The air thus passes through the material more or less horizontally and escapes through the sides of the carriage provided narrow enough to provide sufficient passage along the walls of the casing 1. The central air distribution box 23 is higher than 'in fig. 1 and 2 since the hot air must be brought to under the cover 21b. The unloading is preferably done by opening-mesh panels.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The wire carriage-. 6 is arranged so as to carry trays or bowls 25 containing the products to be dried which are treated by licking, the air circulating horizontally as in the case of FIG. 5. The trolley body is of course closed at the top and open at the side. In the case of freezes 7, the carriage carries racks 26 on which the product to be dried rests. The central box 23 has a rectangular section and it distributes the air in the spaces between the superimposed racks, but saving every other space. On the contrary, the side walls of the body are perforated to the right of the spaces where the distribution box is full. Under these conditions, the air must in order to escape pass through the racks in a regular manner, which ensures drying.
The freezer carriage ô 'is provided for drying skins ((or any other sheet material presenting similar problems). The skins 27 or others are suspended on either side of the distribution box 23 on which are provided with vertical air distribution outfits.
The carriage of fig. 9 carries cakes 23 made of rayon or so and the air openings of the box are arranged so that the drying air passes largely horizontally; in the center of the cakes, while the other fraction of air is distributed vertically from bottom to top.
The carriage of fig. 10 is destiny :; during the drying of the wood. It is more ugly than the previous ones and is of course intended for a larger dryer.
Fig. 11 and 12 show an embodiment of the box 23. In the case of FIG. 11 air distribution,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
instead of being produced by orifices 24 known in FIG. 1 and 2, is obtained in the manner known per se, by horizontal slits cut in the sheet metal of the walls, the lips 24a of said slits being folded back so as to form kinds of flat nozzles which can be adjusted. at will by pinching the said lips more or less. In fig. 12 the arrangement is similar, but the slots are vertical. The latter arrangement is particularly suitable for the freeze carriage 8.
The invention makes it possible, as will be easily understood, to produce dryers with several carriages. It suffices to make them wide enough so that two or more charions can be accommodated side by side at the right of an equal number of openings such as 9. In such a case one can easily treat a number of trolleys less than the one provided by simply closing the openings corresponding to the missing trolleys. It will be noted in passing that a dryer with three carriages, established as has just been explained, can receive at the central post a carriage wider than that normally provided for, at the only weight that the door of. entry allows it.
But instead of placing the trolleys next to each other, they can also be placed one behind the other,
It suffices, as shown clearly in fig. 13, that the air blowing duct of each carriage - or at least the first - is' open at both ends. The sheath 22 'of the first carriage thus comes to rest against the orifice 9, while the sheath
22 'of the following carriage rests against the rear end of the duct 22 and so on as many as there are carriages one behind the other inside the dryer. The last carriage has its sheath closed at the free end either by an added buffer followed by a buffer resiliently attached to the door 2 itself.
The succession of
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
sheaths 22, 22 '; etc ... forms a real duct of drying air which distributes it to the various successive distribution boxes.
It will also be noted that the arrangement of the sheath 22 open at both ends had the advantage that the carriage can enter the dryer in any direction, which eliminates the need to orient the carriages properly at the points. loading.
It must also be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the details of the invention. execution described by all other equivalents.
Summary and Claims l. Trolley dryer, characterized in that each trolley has an air blowing duct opening at one of its ends and connecting in a sealed manner with a drying air inlet provided at the bottom of the dryer.
