Process' for carrying out the welding of nylon.
The present invention relates to a process for carrying out the welding of nylon. For this purpose, according to the invention, a filler material consisting of a nylon solution is used.
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the aforesaid filler material is provided by nylon dissolved in at least one derivative of coal tar. Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a method for carrying out the welding of nylon given below by way of non-limiting example.
Until now it has been possible to weld the compound named nylon to different bodies, in particular to rubber, but it has not been possible to weld the nylon to itself.
Some coal tar derivatives have been found to dissolve nylon. Among these tar derivatives,

carbolic oils have some of the most favorable characteristics. Among these carbolic oils, mention may be made in particular of phenol, cresols, xylenols, and polyphenols.
These compounds can be used mixed or separately. Very satisfactory results have in particular been obtained by using cresol alone.
The procedure is then carried out by taking nylon and dissolving it until saturation in cresol.
The best mixing ratios are about: one part nylon and about 3 to 5 parts cresol.
The saturated dissolution of nylon in cresol then serves as a filler material. The part to be welded is coated with this solution and the piece of nylon that one wishes to adhere to is applied to it.
It is sometimes preferable to make a temporary ligature as for example, in the case of soldering wires, to each other, or to exert pressure on the parts to be soldered until the completion of the setting process.
When the setting is complete, there is practically no difference in the flexibility or color change of the parts welded together, and the adhesion is perfect.
It should be understood that this invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made to it, in particular as regards the form, the constitution, the number and the availability. - sition of the elements involved in its realization without departing from the scope of the present patent application, provided that these changes are compatible with the spirit of the claims set out below.
The process also aims at the use of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons having a boiling point greater than 160 0, under a pressure of 760 mm. mercury, as well as mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid, acid

nitric, etc.
