<EMI ID=1.1>

<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
figures 1 et 2 sont respectivement une vue en élévation de coté et une vue en élévation de face d'un mode de construction d'un train de roues avant rigide suivant l'invention; figures 3 et 4 sont respectivement une élévation de coté et une élévation de face d'une forme de réalisation d'un train de roues avant élastique suivant l'invention; figures 5 et 6 montrent respectivement, en élévation de côté et de face, une variante de construction d'un train de roues avant rigide; figure 7 est un détail à échelle agrandie; figure 8 est une élévation de face d'une construction rigide d'un train de roues avant ayant des roues commandées par un moteur, conforme à l'invention; figure 9 est une coupe verticale dans un dispositif de transmission à échelle agrandie;

"Improvements to vehicles".
The present invention relates to improvements to vehicles of the type provided with a front wheel set mounted on a vertical pivot with a view to its complete rotation under the vehicle frame.
Vehicles of this kind are subject to various disadvantages. Thus, for example, the vertical pivot is subjected to considerable torsional forces when the vehicle is moving over uneven ground, which has the effect of
to bend or break it; the turntable of the vehicle is also given a relatively small diameter in order to bring said torsional forces as close as possible to the central pivot, thus reducing the lateral forces exerted
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The main object of the present invention is to eliminate these drawbacks in vehicles with a front wheel set pivotally mounted on a vertical pivot with a view to its complete rotation under the vehicle frame and this object is achieved by connecting the turntable of the vehicle and the front axis thereof, by means of a transverse pivot, so that the front axis can perform an oscillating movement relative to the vehicle frame. Thanks to this device, the torsional forces exerted on the vertical pivot are reduced to a considerable extent, since an uneven action on the front wheels will be absorbed by the transverse pivot.
Another result brought about by the aforementioned improvements consists in the fact that the turntable can receive a considerably larger diameter, which increases the quality of steering of the front wheelset.
Said transverse pivot may comprise a longitudinal pivot axis assembling bearings fixed respectively on the turntable and the front axis, the latter being supported, relative to the turntable, by elastic interposed elements.
According to a variant of the invention, the trans-

cally to the turntable and pressed into a tight bearing on the front axle, thereby ensuring elasticity between the front axle and the vehicle frame.
According to another variant of the invention, the vertical pivot and the transverse pivot may constitute a unit. This can be achieved by extending the vertical pivot downwards and connecting it to the front axle by means of a spherical coupling provided with devices intended to limit the movement by

Another object of the invention is to provide a device intended to allow the application of the invention to vehicles provided with an axle or with front wheels controlled by a motor which constitute a front wheel set mounted to pivot completely under the vehicle chassis. According to one form of construction, this device comprises a hollow vertical pivot rigidly connected to the chassis of the vehicle and pivotably to the front axle, said vertical pivot having a spherical part which encloses a differential of the known type, which differential is actuated by a shaft. which extends through the tubular vertical pivot, and the upper end of which is connected to the drive motor mounted on the chassis of the vehicle and actuates the wheels of the vehicle in a rotational movement.
According to a variant of this construction, the differential is enclosed in a casing mounted for oscillating movement in an axle frame carrying the front wheels of the vehicle, said casing being connected to the lower end of a cylinder which can slide. through the turntable and through another cylinder rigidly fixed to the vehicle frame, the differential housing being connected to the turntable by elastic elements, while the differential is actuated by means of a shaft telescopic which extends upwardly through said cylinder is provided with
