<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
!,les extrémités c1 de la bride inférieure étant/de même inclinées par rapport à l'horizontale,

made of metal, or of fibrous or plastic material, such as wood or glass and the like,
According to the invention, the oonsole comprises a core with upper and lower flanges, the upper flange being cut by a slot in order to engage in the groove or reduced diameter part of the post, above the column. shoulder,
and the lower flange is cut to engage with the post itself; a plate-shaped member is attached to the console or is an integral part thereof, and it is located directly below the cut-out part of the upper flange, this member or plate being punched in the shape of a keyhole or equivalent shape of so that its larger inner end does not fit the total diameter of the upright, just below the shoulder engaged by the top flange.
The lower flange can be divided into three parts, the central part being directed in the opposite direction with respect to the ends, and in the same direction as the upper flange; this middle part is slotted to engage with the upright while the end parts form supports on which the tray or the like will normally rest. The core and the end parts of the lower flange will then be drilled for the passage of screws or similar fixing means, inside the plates or the like.
The soul of the oonsole can have the shape you want, rectangular, oval or other; for example, the lower edge may be about twice the length of the upper edge, the lower flange having the same overall length as the lower edge from which it originates, and the upper flange being from the top of the web. formed in a point on each side of its slot.

Figs. 15 and 16 show, in faoe and side elevations, a two-piece construction, of the improved console, allowing variable inclination of the table top or the like.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figs. 17. and 18 show side elevation and rear views of a modification in the construction of the console, allowing for variable tilt.
Figs, 19 and 20 are side elevational views showing other constructions which allow variable inclination of the tray or the like,
As shown in Figs. 1 to 6, the bracket consists of a stamped sheet metal with a trapezoidal shape, an upper flange b essentially at right angles to the core and a lower flange divided into three parts. c, c1, c1; the central part 0 is turned in the same direction as the upper console, but the end parts c1 are turned in the opposite direction.
The upper flange b is provided with a slot with parallel edges bl, the width of which corresponds to the reduced diameter of the groove dl above the shoulder d3 of the upright d constituting the support d, the inner end of the slot being rounded at this reduced diameter; under this flange is fixed, for example, by welding, a block of metal.! having a keyhole shaped slot or recess el having an interior bottom large enough to fit the full diameter of the post d; the central portion c. of the lower flange is provided with a slot with parallel edges c2 of width corresponding to the full diameter of the column d; the interior bottom of this slot is rounded to adjust to the upright.
In another form of construction, shown in figs. 7 and 8, the two flanges b and c, cl are executed, as described in connection with figs. I to 6, but the web a of the console is punched so as to provide a tongue a1 which is bent upwards over the upper flange b, this tongue a1 having a keyhole-shaped slot a2 to engage the full diameter of the upright according to fig; 9:
In another form of construction, visible in figs, lo
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
and II, the top flange b. as originally stamped, is approximately double its final dimension, as shown in fig. 12, a slot in the form of a keyhole b2 is made there, closed at both ends so as to be equivalent to the two cutouts b1 and el or a2. This flange is then bent downward by bringing its end b3, towards the longer end of the slit, behind the other part of the flange, leaving between the two parts b and b3 a vertical space which the shoulder d2 of the upright d:
To prevent wear of the d-post, or the generation of scratches thereon, it may be desirable to provide either fiber, plastic, or other suitable wearing parts, or pads, receiving the required shape so as to conform to the contour of the punched parts c2, el, a2 or b3 which engage on the upright d.
Fig; I3 shows one of these support pieces or pad f, formed with a cast in the form of a keyhole fl and drilled in f2 so as to be able to be fixed to the corresponding slotted part by rivets or the like; Fig; I4 shows two pads f attached to the tongue a1 and to the flange part o Thus, the wear of the post d is carried over to the support pieces or pads f, and the resistance and the supporting power are provided, by the metal parts of the console to which they are attached,
In each of these constructions, the tray or similar members rest on the lower flange of the console, being fixed to this flange by screws passing through the end parts c1, and being likewise fixed to the core a, figures 1,7,
10 and 14 show trays g fixed in this manner and extending horizontally from the upright. If you want to ensure the horizontal position of the tray when it is fully loaded, the web a can be placed with a slight inclination (for example: 3 1/2) in relation to the axis of the upright
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
!, the ends c1 of the lower flange being / likewise inclined relative to the horizontal,
If the invention is applied to a support, tray or shelf, the inclination of which is desired to be varied, the console is made of two parts which can be pivoted with respect to one another.
As can be seen in figs. 15 and 16, the main part comprises a web a with upper and lower split flanges b, c to embrace the post d, the end parts c1 of the lower flange being replaced by ears or projections c3 around which can pivot the other part, smaller,!, by means of pins or rivets h, This other part has the shape of a T according to fig. 15, with ears it at the end of the cross member to fit the hinge studs h,
while the distance between the free end of the branch 12 and the core a of the main part is adjustable and can be kept fixed by a screw j or a similar device located between the free end of said branch and line of the main part, just below the top flange b.
Fig. I? and 18 show a modification of the construction, where the main part of the console is made in the form of a box, the web a being provided with return flanges which are welded to the edges of the upper and lower flanges b, c; a hinge pin 1 supported in the flanges k has at its projecting ends the ears ml of the other smaller part, m, to which the tray or the like is attached.
A lever arm m2 integral with one of the ears, is engaged on the journal n1 of a collar where the base n inside which is mounted a shaft o which can rotate; the latter has an operating button ol at one of its ends, the other end being threaded to engage in an ecorup p at the end of a rod p1 supported in the flanges 1. ' By turning the ol knob, the tilt of the knob can be varied within the limits of the

planned movement.
, Fig; I9 shows a simplified form of, this oonstruotion o the arm m2 at a forked lower end, or provided with a slot in which is engaged a cam or eccentric cm mounted so as to be able to rotate on the main part of the oonsole, and the placement of the oame or the eccentric can be changed using an operating arm q1; in this form, the adjustment has become self-closing, by the reversibility of the oame or of the eccentric.
Fig; 20 shows another simple device in which the m2 arm receives the shape of a quadrant having a fork or a curvilinear slot through which passes a screw emanating from the outside of the main part of the oonsole, a washer rl being fitted under the head of the screw so that the fit can be fixed by tightening the screw
The oonsoles described are adapted to be housed together with the trays, with a view to packaging 'or, transport, by placing the detached bonsoles inside the trays to which they will be fixed by screws or bolts when the support or upright is erected for display. or employment.
