<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Parquet with joists braced by rods.

The present invention relates to parquet and floorings formed of strips or friezes constituting a coherent wear wall secured by gluing, jointing or otherwise to a foundation formed of joists extending in the longitudinal direction of each parquet floor.
The object of the invention is to ensure effective guiding of the joists of the supporting foundation and to give the floor a greater load-bearing capacity. This result is obtained essentially by mutually bracing the joists by means of rods movable in grooves extending in the transverse direction of said joists and arranged inside the seat subjected to the bending pressure.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of this flooring according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a portion of a flooring element.
Fig. 2 is a view in vertical section through the broken line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is an elevational view of this flooring element.
The parquet strips or friezes 1 are intended to form the wear wall of the flooring element, this wear wall preferably being joined by gluing to the support frames or joists of the boards which extend in the longest levons. gitudinal of the flooring element, these joists forming by

their whole supporting foundation. These joists 2 are arranged, in the example shown, with a certain spacing, which leaves between them Interstices 3 in the form of slots. These joists are therefore only joined in pairs by the intermediary of the wear wall, that is to say by the marl boards of the parquet.
The guiding and the bracing of the joists 2 and of all the constituent elements of the parquet are ensured by rods 4 placed transversely to the support joists 2 at a certain distance above the lower surface of the element. parquetry.
These rods 4 housed in the grooves of the lampholders form a base which is subjected to the pressure of the bending forces exerted on the parquet floor insulation, for example from a piece of furniture.
From the point of view of manufacture, it is advantageous to apply the upper face of the strips 1 against the wall formed by the strips or friezes of the parquet. In this way, in fact, the part of the parquet element which is subjected to the maximum tensile forces can be kept coherent, so that this parquet element is endowed with a much greater robustness than if the seat lower had been cut by grooves in one or more places. Moreover, the seat which is subjected to the compressive force is divided, in this example, by means of the rods ± housed in the grooves of the joists.
It is obvious that these rods can withstand at least the major part of the compressive force although they are not rigidly joined to the walls of the grooves.
If the rods 4 were placed in the lower seat, these rods could in no way help to obviate the inconvenience caused by the division or severing of the lower fibers.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
On the contrary, by placing the rods 4 as provided for by the invention, at the same time a considerably improved bracing of the flooring element is obtained since the two bracing surfaces of the rods are fully engaged in this element, thanks to the application of rods having a dovetail cross section, in a manner moreover known in sic, a guiding effect is also obtained which is further improved, this effect coming from the jamming obtained by means of the oblique edges chopsticks 4.
