<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
auquel on peut instantanément régler, dans les deux sens, la longueur d'un bracelet ou lien analogue, cet élément faisant partie intégrale du bracelet ou lien et s'insérant dans celui-ci au même titre qu'un maillon ordinaire de bracelet, Cet élément comporte essentiellement deux pièces identiques, dont la face externe ou supérieure est taillée en crémaillère ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Blame for adjusting the length of bracelets and other objects or @@@ similar links .. standard or average dimensions (.lengths.) Which often require the seller to make a following adjustment. the size of the user's wrist.
This adjustment does not offer any difficulty for certain models of bracelets, but on the other hand, proves impossible for other models for still others. it is necessary to remove certain parts of the bracelet (links) and to reassemble in the place where the parts were removed; sometimes marl, it is necessary to rebuild a special part.
This drawback arises as well for open bracelets (clasp bracelets) as for closed bracelets, whether or not they are expandable; the term "bracelet" being gray here in its broadest sense and not limited to only jewelry items; but also extending to all articles or objects intended to surround, by squeezing more or less, any object.
The present invention specifically relates to an element through
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to which one can instantly adjust, in both directions, the length of a bracelet or similar link, this element being an integral part of the bracelet or link and fitting into it in the same way as an ordinary link of a bracelet, This element element essentially comprises two identical parts, the outer or upper face of which is cut into a rack;
these two parts are attached, by their outer ends, each to a link or to the end of an element of the bracelet, the latter therefore being open, during assembly, between two links or elements, these two parts engage, by their end free, each in the corresponding end of a small flat box, an inner face of which has teeth of a shape corresponding to that of the teeth of the aforementioned racks; the other opposite face of this box is removable. Said rack pieces preferably have a slightly domed section, in order to tighten somewhat, and elastically, in the box.
The teeth are shaped so that the rack pieces are retained against any outgoing movement by engagement. of their teeth with. those of the box, while it is possible., by forcing slightly, to make them penetrate further by sliding one over the other of the inclined parts of the teeth, this possibility of penetration makes it possible to shorten the bracelet. To lengthen it, all you have to do is momentarily remove the movable face of the box.
Although it applies to all types of bracelets or links, the invention is particularly interesting from the point of view of stretchable bracelets with rigid links, the extensibility of which is determined by one or more springs housed in the links. and where removing one or more links per 1. $ - user is practically impossible.
Such an application is precisely represented, by way of indication but not limiting, in the accompanying drawing, in which fig.l is a longitudinal section of the adjustment element. fig.2 is a cross section along II-II of fig.1. Fig.3 shows, in plan, part of an extensible bracelet, equipped with such an adjustment element.
1 designates the links of an extensible bracelet ,. seen in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
spread position ,. for which the parts 2 of the springs assembling the links are visible, said springs being tensioned; normally., as is known, the links are contiguous, the springs being partially relaxed and remaining invisible in the links that they assemble., The bracelet is split at a certain point, between two links, to insert the adjustment element according to the invention.
This element .., as has been said, comprises two similar parts 3, each secured with one of the links at the point of splitting. with conchee teeth Each of these parts is formed by a toothed rack; the lying part is directed towards the front, that is to say towards the free end of the part.
These two pieces 3 each engage in one end of a small flat box 4, the upper inner face of which is formed by recumbent teeth arranged, to the left, exactly like those of the piece 3 on the left, and, at right, like those of part 3 on the right, this box is closed, on its side opposite the toothed face, by a wall 5 and it has an internal height of squares. laying substantially, to the thickness of the parts 3, so that ,, by pushing a part 3 into this box, the lying or inclined part of the teeth, this part slides, by forcing, on the tips of the teeth of the box, under transverse elastic deformation of the part 3.
In this abutment he and good, as shown in the drawing, that part 3 has. a width slightly less than the internal width of the box- 41 and. that on the other hand, it is slightly curved transversely, to allow the deformation in the transverse direction. It is understood that if the depression of the part 3 in the box 4 is. possible (even possibly by transverse deformation of the box), the exit of this part 3 is radically prevented by the meeting of the right part of its teeth with the marna part of the teeth of the box, to allow adjustment in the without 'an increase in length (exit of parts 3) it suffices to remove the bottom 5 of the box 4, the bottom which is simply retained by its two terminal shoulders 6 resting on the edges 7 of the box 4.
This adjustment in the direction of an increase in length must be carried out very rarely, the adjustment in the opposite direction being by far the most frequent.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In the example shown, the teeth of the upper face of the hoite are marked on the outside) but it is understood that the outer face could be smooth, or have any other patterns) the teeth being formed only, on the part. internal.
Preferably, but not necessarily, when it comes to a jewelry bracelet, the teeth of the pieces 3 will have the same dimension as a link 1 of the bracelet; provision can also be made for these parts 3 to have a smooth upper face (not toothed), the teeth being formed only at the lower part and the teeth of the box therefore being formed on the bottom. 5.
The system could be reversed, in that the links 1 of the bracelet would be attached to two boxes, such as 4, in one free end of each of which would enter a single moving part 3 which would then have two species of teeth, at the same title that box 4 of fig.l.
