<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Acoustic manometric capsule"
The subject of the invention is a so-called "acoustic" manometric capsule for devaluation of the pressures according to the measurement of the variations in frequency or of the variations in length of a vibrating wire influenced by the pressure to be measured, these variations being appreciated acoustically. by placing in unison with said string that of a frequency meter, in the known manner, first at rest and then when the pressure is exerted on the capsule.
The present capsule is essentially characterized in that the vibrating wire is linked to an elastic bottom wall, of determined dimensions, having a very small inherent deformability intended to receive the action of the pressure to be measured, which is fixed. , by an elastic attachment without play or friction to a non-deformable capsule body so that the rotations around the wall are made without friction and that the wall, being acoustically integral with the mass of the capsule body, its own vibrations cannot interfere with those of the vibrating wire.
In one embodiment, the aforementioned wall consists of a disc connected by an annular part, of determined reduced thickness, underlying or concentric, to a base or to a non-deformable ring and rigidly fixed to the body. rigid capsule.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the present manometric capsule, the. vibrating rope can be arranged in two ways depending on whether the length of the rope is controlled by the perpendicular deformation of the center of the plate, that is to say its deflection, or by the deformation angular of its contour.
In the first case, the cord is placed along the axis of the capsule, one of its extracted is fixed to the elastic wall defined more bautet the other to a wall. The bottom ir, - deformable and rigidly secured with the rigid butular body of the capsule, or to a wall similar to the. first.
In the second case, the rope is stretched between two arms ou'bossages, diametrically opposed, provided on the inner face of the wall (the kinetic bottom.
The present acoustic manometric capsule offers the advantage of being of simple constitution: robust and foolproof, and of being able to be used with the maximum convenience, in all places, for example for the measurement of 'The pressure !?' A gas, vapor, liquid or powdery material, on a wall or in an enclosure, densities, depth of a terrestrial, marine or aerial sounding, underpressure in a dam, the piezometric load in a ground, and in general all the quantities which can be deduced from the measurement of a pressure.
The accompanying drawing shows, at. by way of example, two embodiments of this capsule.
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section of a first embodiment.
FIG. 2 is a diametral section of a second embodiment.
In FIG. 1, 1 denotes the tubular body of the capsule, dimensioned so as to be able to undergo rigorously without deformation or with elastic deformation the pressure forces extending over a determined range, to the extent of which the device is intended. .
At one of the ends, this body receives a base 2 which is also undeformable, mounted in a sealed manner, preferably by screwing until jamming of a double conical seal 3. In a central recess of this base is fixed the 'one of the ends of the vibrating wire 4, preferably by clamping between two jaws 5, wedged in a conical entry under the pressure of a screw 6.
The bottom 2, in turn receives a cap 7 in the center of which is mounted in a sealed manner the cable 8 ensuring the electrical connections of the device, the conductor 9, coming from this cable, passing through a opening 10 of the bottom 2 to end in the coil of the electromagnet which is intended to set the rope in vibration, in the known manner, this electromagnet being supported in any suitable manner inside the body 1.
The cap 7 is also mounted in a sealed manner, for example by screwing with crushing a metalloplastic gasket 12 between two conical surfaces.
The cord 4, which is here arranged along the axis of the capsule, and clamped at its other end in a two-piece support 13 and 13a, which support is mounted by screwing in the center of the second bottom 14, of the capsule, or in a support similar to 5 also screwed to the center of the bottom 14.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
This base 14, made of steel, consists of a disc of thickness determined as a function of its diameter which forms a body with a tubular extension 15 assembled with the body 1 of the capsule by means of a double conical seal, of the same like the bottom 2, but which is connected to this tubular extension alone by means of an underlying metal ring 16, which can be locally thinned so as to constitute, in a way, an elastic joint which increases flexibility from the bottom, so that this bottom can be elastically deformed under the effect of the pressures to be measured, This method of fixing solidifies the bottom 14 and the body 1 from the point of view of Vibrations, constituting a set of natural frequency very different from that of the. rope, and its vibrations are absorbed by said joint.
It follows from this arrangement that when said horn is put into vibration by any mayen, for example by means of a current of short duration launched into the electro 11, the listening of its sound vibrations will not be disturbed. by that of the vibrations of the bottom 14 and the measurement of the pressure exerted on this bottom can be done with all the desired accuracy.
In FIG. 2, the same references designate the same components as previously.
In this embodiment, the tubular body 1 of the capsule is in one piece with the undeformable bottom 2, which directly receives the cable 8 ensuring the electrical connections of the device.
The elastic bottom wall 14 is here surrounded concentrically by an annular portion of reduced thickness 16, surrounded in turn by a ring 17 rigidly fixed to the tubular body 1 and not participating in the deformations of the wall 14. These two parts 14 and 17 may be of the same thickness, the annular part 16 then being determined by two symmetrical circular grooves 18 made on the two faces of the. room. To ensure a rigorous seal it will be advantageous to provide, as has been shown, a cap made of red copper foil 19, the edge of which will be clamped between the body 1 and a nut 20.
In this embodiment, the wall 14 has, on its inner face, two diametrically opposed lifts or bosses 21 between which is stretched, by means of small screw caps 22, the cord 4, then disposed perpendicular to the axis of the capsule. , this arrangement ensuring with amplification the measurement of the angular deformation of the contour of the test base 14 produced by the action of pressure on this base.
