cored and suitably primed) so as to be impermeable to water and refractory to the chemical action of the materials / to be packed in such deformable tubes. Nevertheless, in this latter design there remains a serious difficulty arising from the need to provide the actual tube with a head comprising an orifice for discharging the material.
The main difficulty arises from the threefold need to make an economical head, easily attachable to the tube itself and capable of allowing normal discharge of the material.
The present invention relates to a novel method for the execution of such a deformable tube and more particularly for the execution of the head of such a deformable tube, under extreme conditions of economy and simplicity. Without any limiting nature, however, .ce process is particularly applicable to the production of deformable paper tubes, on which the head is attached. The invention also extends to the deformable tubes thus obtained.
According to the invention, the head of the deformable tube is made so that it has a cross section, in the shape of an inverted U. This head is fixed to the tube itself by the energetic clamping of one of its ends between the two lateral faces of the U-shaped element. These two lateral faces are spaced apart from one of the two sides. 'the other over at least a portion of the length of the head, to form the outlet of the material.
According to a preferred embodiment, a deformable packaging is produced by the combination of a damentally treated paper mandrel and a metal head with an inverted U-shaped section, attached by pressure on said mandrel.
The shape and dimensions of the mandrel and of the attached head are essentially variable, so that the object of the invention can be applied to. the packaging of all kinds' of products currently packaged in the deformable vanes or likely to be.

mable according to the invention.
According to these various figures and in accordance with the invention, the deformable tube 1 is, on one of its ends, lined with a head 2 having a cross section in the shape of an inverted U or, substantially, such a shape. In this case, and according to one embodiment; given as a simple example, this inverted U-shape is obtained by the folding of a light metal plate 3. The corresponding edge 4 of the tube is energetically clamped between the two lateral sides of the head. and this tightening can be combined with depressions 5, d.e so as to increase the connection between the head and the material of the corresponding part of the tube.
In its middle, the head is slightly widened by the judicious spacing of the lacteal edges and has an orifice 6, which can be oblong, circular or of any other shape. The corresponding edge of the tube is therefore deformed to follow the particular profile of the head thus produced, so that the head is crossed by a passage allowing the evacuation of the material under a simple pressure effect in the usual manner.
FIG. 1 shows schematically an execution in which the discharge orifice is oblong, while FIG. 2 diagrams an execution in which said discharge orifice is cylindrical.
For reasons of economy, it is possible to substitute for a removable shutter normally lining the orifice 6, a cover, which can be destroyed at the time of first use,
This cover can be produced by any added nratière which can easily be damaged. Or again, this cover can be produced by deformation and deformation of the material in line with the discharge orifice. Such an execution is shown in detail and in its various execution phases in Figures 4 to 18.
To this end, the base plate 3, of rectangular shape, for example, undergoes a first stamping operation determining in its direction a deformation in shape.

to the crimping installation of the heads on the tubes.
As can be seen, not only is the process for producing deformable tubes, according to the invention, extremely simple, but it allows implementation in very large series, with the use of a minimum of raw materials. and practically without loss of material, which therefore achieves an industrially economical process.
The invention is obviously not limited to the embodiments described above by way of example. The U-shaped section and more generally still the crimping of one of the edges of the deformable tube between two juxtaposed walls can be obtained by any means other than the bending of a base plate.
The U-shape of the straight section of the head does not necessarily have to extend over the entire length of the head, nor be equal in all parts thereof. Figures 19,19a, 20 and 21 show schematically alternative embodiments, in which the shape of the head is modified in elevation by cutting out the parts of the head, placed on either side of the discharge orifice. . In FIG. 11, an approximately triangular head 17 is thus produced, and in FIG. 20 a head 18, of approximately semi-circular shape. Figure 21 shows a fantasy execution.
Whatever embodiment is adopted, the discharge orifice may be blocked either temporarily or permanently by a suitable plug or obturator. This can be formed as shown schematically penetrating in Figure 19a, by un.élément / 19, surmounted by a head 20, which can be treated in a decorative manner. This shutter could also be given the form of a stirrup or of a cap coming to be fixed on and around the head, either over the entire length of the latter, or only in line with the discharge orifice.
Also, we could secure the shutter to the head and
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
allow a sliding movement, rotation or any other suitable movement, to free, and appropriately obstruct, the discharge opening.
The characteristic head, main object of the invention, can be executed in one piece with the deformable tube,
