<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
REVENDICATIONS.

Improvement in coupling parts for flexible pipe fittings.
Hose couplings for pressure lines usually having coupling parts provided with claws and internal flanges arranged so that, by a reconciliation movement followed by rotation, the claws of each part are engaged. in grooves made under the flanges of the mating piece. This type of coupling has great advantages both from the point of view of tightness and of speed of assembly. In use, however, it has been observed that the flanges sometimes give way under the action of traction or of the high internal pressure to which the pipe is subjected.
The present invention provides a very simple means of reinforcing the construction of these coupling parts in order to eliminate this disadvantage. To this end., In the part according to the invention, the grooves intended to receive the claws are closed at one end by radial ribs which connect the flanges to the body of the coupling part and reinforce them in the vicinity of

the place where the traction of the claws is exerted.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the description below or in Figs. 1 and 2 show a coupling part / in perspective and in diametral section.
The common type of cast metal coupling part comprises a body 1 of generally cylindrical shape, provided on its outer face with two claws 2 and two flanges 3 separated from the claws by notches 4 large enough to allow the introduction of the claws 2 of the mating coupling part. A movement of rotation then brings these claws into grooves 5 formed under the flanges 3. Resilient gaskets are usually provided between the adjacent faces of the mating parts and an inclined plane is formed at 6 on the underside of the flanges 3 to ensure the clamping of the coupling parts by means of the claws.
According to the invention, each of the flanges 3 is connected to the body 1 of the part by a radial rib 7 which at the same time serves as a stop for the claw 2 of the mating part when it is placed in place. Since the flanges are thus effectively reinforced in the vicinity of the place where they are stressed by the claws, the strength of the assembly is greatly increased.
Changes in shape can of course be made to the coupling piece without departing from the scope of the invention.
