<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
deux tambours, suivant la position symétrique, pour assurer à la machine suivante un bon dévidage du rouleau jusqu'à sa fin, les moyeux ne peuvent avoir qu'un petit diamètre, sinon le forage dans le rouleau serait trop grand et alors le rouleau en dévidais s'ava- chit quand il devient petit (donc vers la fin;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
main.
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This easy form of stacking is a good way to assemble the tape at a great length and bring it from one machine to another, which not only saves labor. easier monitoring of machine entry and exit points, but also quantitative advantages due to the small number of tape connections.
The automatic tape winding devices must therefore be designed to form heavy rolls of large dimensions; moreover, to take account of practical conditions, the devices must be of as simple a construction as possible and free from disturbance in operation.
Various species of web or tape winders are known which have this in common that the tape is wound up by a friction drive from one or more drums or drive rollers, which, by contact with each other. the periphery, first a pair of winding hubs between which the tape is gripped, then, after winding the first layer of tape, drive the roll of tape itself by rubbing, thus effecting the winding tape.
Devices with two drive drums, on which the tape roll is driven by drive, are better suited to forming large rolls of tape than devices with a single drive drum, because two points of attack are intended for the driving force. however, the known devices of this type still have defects. Thus, German patent 361,840 shows an embodiment where two driving drums are provided, between which, in the starting position, therefore at the start of winding , a pair of roller hubs are symmetrically inserted.
These same hubs are well engaged, by their toothing, with a single toothed driving drum, while they are spaced a small distance, corresponding to the missing teeth, of the other non-toothed drum, but the drive of the roll of tape that is formed is done by resting on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
two drums, depending on the symmetrical position, to ensure the following machine a good unwinding of the roll until its end, the hubs can only have a small diameter, otherwise the drilling in the roll would be too large and then the roll in reeled out when it becomes small (so towards the end;
. On the other hand, the driving drums must be relatively large in order to provide the large rollers with sufficient seating and driving force. It follows that the hubs come to be placed under the common upper line of contact of the two winding drums, as is apparent from the drawings of this German patent 361,840. But since this nip corresponds to the shape of the tape delivered by the machine, there is no reason, once a roll is finished and is expelled, for the roll hubs to grip the tape immediately and correctly. , which is however the essential condition for a perfect work of such a device.
On the other hand, the device according to German patent 361,840 is not suitable for forming large rolls of tape, because the roll hubs are necessarily guided in the direction of their axis and so that after expulsion of a finished roll, its return between the two drive drums is only possible when the roll of tape has arrived at the exit, otherwise the roll lines, which must abut against each other, would come into contact with the outgoing roller.
initiated for small rolls of tape, there is danger here, because the start of a new roll of tape must immediately follow the end of the previous roll, but the return of the roll hubs wastes precious time. A device in accordance with this German patent 361,840 is a priori unsuitable for the formation of large rollers.
An attempt has been made to solve the problem by giving up above all the roller hubs and by employing, instead of these, another device such as a rotating fork driven separately, and not by the driving drums, the position of this fork.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
can thus be chosen in any way relative to the upper contact line of the two drive drums.
The drive drums do not come into action until a small roller has been formed by the externally controlled fork.
Devices of this type have the drawback that the construction is very difficult, owing to the fork to be ordered separately; moreover, they offer much less operational reliability than the known constructions with roller hubs.
In contrast to these known defective devices, the present invention provides an embodiment where two driving drums and a pair of roller hubs are employed such that the tape roll is first formed by a single driving drum and does not start to run. on both drive drums only after reaching a certain diameter. It is thus possible to give the roller hubs, for the start of the roller, exactly the required position, vis-à-vis the tape exiting the machine and which passes over the driving drums, to ensure a gripping. safe and thus a correct start of the new roll.
On the other hand, the invention avoids complicated and inconvenient constructions, such as separately ordered elements for the start of the roll. The invention further provides for such control of the hubs that they are in the correct starting position for the start of a new roll, in the case of large rolls, as soon as the completed roll leaves. the device.
The object of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing in a few exemplary embodiments.
Figures 5 to 5 relate to a first form, Figure 1 being a side view of the reel at the start of forming a roll, Figure 2 being a front view, Figure 1 being a horizontal section with plan view, fig.4 a side view with the roll finished and fig.5 a corresponding partial plan view.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Figs. 6 to 10 relate to a second embodiment, Fig. 6 being a side view of the reel at the start of the winding process, Fig. 7 a half plan view; fig.8 a side view for an intermediate stage of the winding, fig.9 a side view at the time of the completion of the winding and fig.10 the corresponding front view.
Figures 11 and 12 relate to a third embodiment, fig.ll being a side view of the reel at the start of winding and fig.12 being a corresponding plan view.
In the embodiment of fig.l to 5, the two driving drums are designated by 1-2 and the winding hubs by 3.
Fig.l shows the driving drum 2 moved upward (fig.4) outside its fundamental position for which it is in the same horizontal plane as the driving drum 1; in the position shown, the drum 2 is in contact with the hubs 3 which are located above the driving drums so that they correctly grip the tape 31 delivered by the machine, to start a new tape roll.
Fig. 1 also shows the starting position for a roll winding start, the hubs. 3 brought together laterally to couple, have seized the tape between their teeth and receive, by their contact with the drum 2, the command for the first turns, these hubs and the drums being for this purpose toothed usual way. As soon as a little tape is wound up, the subsequent control of the forming roller is done first by drum 2 only.
As the tape is wound up and the tape roll grows larger, the driving tamoour rises oscil-
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
lant by the arms 5, around the axis of the drum 1, is forced downwards until the two drums 1 and. 2 arrive on the common horizontal, as well as against fig.4. The oscillating movement of the drum 2 is for example limited by aes projections; on which come to rest protrusions in the form of the foot of the arms 5.
The necessary pressure of the driving drum 2 on the forming roll during the oscillating movement of the drum 2 is obtained by the preponderant weight of the arms 5 extended in the form of a channel at the left side of the drum 1. This channel-shaped extension serves as a besides the exit of the finished roll, which, by its own weight, helps to bring the drum 2 back to the starting position.
As soon as the drum 2 has reached its lowest position, the axis of the growing tape roll begins to rise gradually with the winding hubs 3. These hubs 3 are carried by slides 7 guided along the frame 8 The weight of the sliders 7, together with the increasing weight of the roller itself, denoted by 32 in Fig. 4, determines the pressure necessary for the transmission of control from the two driving drums to the roller which rides on them.
The marl driving drums are controlled from the machine from which the tape comes, for example by means of a chain 10 for drum 1 and a chain 11 for drum 2.
When the roll of tape has reached the desired size, activate the device which determines the exit of the hubs 3 from the roll. The slide 7 strikes by its part on: the lower extension of a pawl 13, which comes out of the notch 14 and thus releases the rod 15 which, under the action of the spring 16, can perform a small upward movement (fig. 4). The pawl 13 is adjustable in height on the rod 15, according to the desired size of the rolls of tape.
By the upward movement of the rod 15, the two coupling parts 17 engage, the lower half of the coupling being rigidly connected to the rod 15
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
while the upper half constitutes part of the lever 19 oscillate. observe back and forth by control 18 with a conical and eccentric wheel. When the parts of the coupling are engaged, the rod 15 receives angular rotation. Along the rod 15 is guided, by groove and tongue, a shaped part 20. fork, which guides the hub 3 in the axial direction - and thus, as a result of the angular rotation of the rod 15, withdraws the hub 3 from the tape roll 32.
Next to a hub 3 is provided on each side of the roller, there is, on each side, a rod 15 and a fork 20, but the angular movement is not transmitted by the mentioned coupling. 17 than one of the two rods 15, which transmits the movement to the other rod by the toothed segments 21, as shown in fig. 3 and 5. These toothed segments 21 are attacked by the springs 22 which tend to deflect the rods 15- and the forks 20 and thus to bring the hubs towards one another. 3.
This return movement is however first prevented by the nose 23 carried by one of the segments 21, which nose is placed in front of a pawl 24 when the lower part 17 of the coupling is, with the toothed segment 21, raised. by rod 15.
,,, except that the hubs-3 have, as described above, been removed from both sides of the tape roll; part 7; with the rewinder eyes 3, slides, by its own weight, down on the frame 8. As a result, the roller 32 makes a few more turns while riding freely on the two driving drums 1 and. Lon of movement towards. at the bottom, the slide 7 abuts, by the roller 25 fixed therein, against the lever 26 which can oscillate around 1. ' axis of drum 1, and it pushes this lever to the left. The lever 26 is thus placed against the stop 27 of the arm 5.
Due to the fact that the lever 26 has been pushed to the left, the arms 5 also receive an oscillating movement so that the winding drum 2 oscillates upwards and thus rejects the roller 32 (fig. 4 towards the left. ). To the arms 5 is also fixed the lever to
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
hand. 28 used to determine by hand if necessary the rejection of the tape roll.
As already specified, the extruded tape roll rolls on the channel-shaped extension of the arms 5 and thus helps the upward pivoting of the drive drum 2, provided that the latter has not yet reached its highest position. limited by a suitable stop.
In the meantime, the slide 7 with the hubs 3 has reached its lowest position for which it abuts against the bead or collar 30 of the rod 15. The rod 15 is thus pushed towards the bes and the coupling parts 17 are released. one from the other. The nose 23 which is located at the toothed sector 21 then escapes the pawl 24 and then releases. the two toothed sectors 21 and the rods 15 which can return under the action of the springs 2.
As a result, the two hubs 3 are brought back towards each other again, they grasp by their toothed front surfaces the ribbon of fibers 31 coming from the machine, which still holds the roll of ribbon which has just been expelled and extends above the two driving drums 1 and 2, as shown in fig. 1. By controlling the hubs, the connection between the tape and the expelled roller is cut and the new winding process begins.
To ensure a uniform descent of the slides 7 on both sides of the machine, they are interconnected by a stirrup 29. for the lateral guidance of the tape, various devices can be provided, such as for example discs 4 with flange which Surrounding the hubs 3 links do not or only partially participate in the axial movement of these hubs. In addition, guide plates 9 can be provided, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 6 to 10, the driving drum 2 'is still pivoting, thanks to the arms 5', around the axis of the driving drum 1 '; likewise, the arms 5 'are extended forward in the form of channels for the departure of the finished rolls. At the start of the process, the 3 'winding hubs are not
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
winding, in contact with the driving drum 2 '(fig. 6) which alone drives the progressively increasing roller until the driving drum 2' reaches its lowest position (fig. 8) in resting on the stops 6 '. The 3 'roller hubs are,
in this exemplary embodiment, mounted axially movable in the cheeks 33 fixed to the supports 8 '.
As soon as, or shortly before the driving drum 2 'reaches its rest position on the stops 6', the hubs, winders 3 'have been withdrawn from the tape roll which has meanwhile grown and is finished. Simultaneously, the pressure alet 34 driven by the chain drives 36 and 37 begins to rest on the tape roll to determine the required pressure and thus the desired friction for the drive and winding of the roll, so far.
the driving drum 2 'was pressed against this roller by the excess weight of the channel part of the arms 5'. The driving drums are controlled here again by chain la 'for drum 1' and of the latter by chain 11 'for drum 2'.
The output of the hubs 3 'which takes place as soon as the drum has reached its lowest position and therefore as soon as the tape roll begins to run over the two drums 1 and 2', is automatically controlled by the drum. 2 '. For this purpose, there is again provided a drive 18 'with a conical and eccentric plate which constantly moves back and forth the lower part of the coupling 17'. The upper part of this coupling was first held by the fork 42, against the pressure of the spring 41,
out of orise with the lower part of the coupling. The fork 42 is fixed on a journal with the double lever 43, the lower part of which is held by a stop, thanks to the spring at ïaùie 44. As soon as the drum arms 5 'with their extension 45 reach their lowest position , the adjustable screw 46 presses against the leaf spring 44, which releases the double lever 43 and the fork 42.
The spring 41 then closes the coupling 17 'and the back-and-forth movement of the lever 19' is transmitted, by tongue and groove, from the upper part of the coupling to the vertical shaft 40 and thus to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
fork 20 'which axially removes the hub. 3 'off the tape roll. Any retort in the first embodiment, there is provided here, for the hub located on the other side of the roller, a similar shaft 40 with toothed sector 21 ', so that the movement takes place simultaneously. sides of the roll. The movement of the toothed sectors occurs against the tension of the springs 22 '.
In order to keep the forks and the hubs 3 'in their external position against this pulling of the spring, a nose 47 is provided at the upper half of the coupling, in front of which moves a stop 48 influenced by. spring.
The pressure roller 34 is mounted in a slider 35 which can slide up and down along supports 8 '. This roller rises with increasing roll size. Retort, under certain conditions, it is advantageous that the pressure on the roller increases with the increase in size of the latter, it is possible to provide, at the supports 8 ', additional weights 49 or 50 which are successively removed by the part. support 35 for roller 34 as it rises, of course, more of such additional weights can be provided.
As soon as the roll 32 'of tape has reached the desired size (fig.9) it is expelled. This can be done in various ways. In the example, between the pressure roller 34 and the roller 32 'is inserted an intermediate member in the form of a small roller 51 which tends to be introduced in the form of a wedge between the two and, as a result of its rotation in the opposite direction, tends to move the roller upward in the direction of expulsion. As a result, and by the continuous control of the drums 1 and 2 'the roll 32' is expelled.
The small roller 51 is mounted in the lower part of the double lever 52, including the. the upper part abuts against the stop 54, adjustable according to the desired roller size and thus determines the introduction of the small roller between the pressure roller 34 and the roller 32 ', and this opposite to the spring pressure 53 which otherwise keeps the small roller away from the roller (fig. 8).
When the tape roll is expelled by the aforementioned device, the driving drum 2 'follows this movement - due to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
excess weight of the channel-shaped part of the arms 5 ', until it reaches its starting position (fig.6) determined by a suitable fixed stop. Part 45 then abuts against the upper part of double lever 43 (fig. 6) and pushes it back to the right. As a result, the fork 42 and with it the upper part of the coupling 17 'is lifted and the nose 47 slides from the stop 48.
By the pulling of the spring 22 'and the sectors 21', the vertical shafts 40 are diverted and the hubs 3 'are re-engaged by the forks 20'; these hubs then grasp between their teeth the tape 31 'going from the machine to the roll to the going away and, by the command from the drum 2', they immediately start the winding and the formation of a new roll .
The shape of the upper part of the lever 43 must be such that the projection 45 determines exactly at the desired moment the release of the coupling and thus the bringing into engagement of the winding hubs 3 '. For this purpose, the upper part of the double lever 43 can also be equipped with a separate adjustable part, against which the projection 45 rests.
The pressure roller 34 is lowered to the extent that the departing roll of tape allows; this lowering is carried out under its own weight and its movement can, in order to slow down this descent, be controlled by chain 38 and chain wheels 39, one or more of which are constituted, as brake elements. This brake element can also be employed, as an additional means of application in the upward movement of the pressure roller.
To give the tape, during winding, a lateral support, there may be provided guide plates 55 and horn-shaped projections 56, retort shown in Figs. 9 and 10, or. all other suitable guiding organs, Thus. it is possible, for example, to provide flanged discs with the winding hubs, as in the first example.
In this case, it can also be provided for. arm 5 'a handle 28' to manually determine the oscillation movement.
Likewise, the upper part of the lever 52 which bears at its part
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
lower the small expulsion roller ìl, can be fitted with a handle in order to be able to determine at any time the expulsion of the tape roll without taking into account the stop 54.
In the embodiment of fig.ll and 12, the two driving drums 1 "and. 2" are on fixed supports. The 3 "winding hubs are movable relative to the driving drums - in the example they are mounted to oscillate around the axis 61 by arms 60 - so that the hubs and the tape roll are not in contact. contact only with drum 2 "during the first part of the winding process. This is only when the arms 60 come in. the horizontal position that the 3 "winding hubs are symmetrically above the two driving drums and that the tape roll begins to lay on the two driving drums.
At this moment, the two hubs, winders 3 "are automatically pulled out of the roller with the aid of the arms 62 articulated to the arms 60 at 63. The arms 62 obviously execute the oscilla.lion movement of the arms 60 around the roller. axis 61.
The actuation of the arms 62 for the expulsion of the 3 "stray hubs is derived from an eccentric command 64 to the 1" drum.
This control determines a continuous back and forth movement of a portion of the coupling 65 which; as soon as the coupling is closed transmits this reciprocating movement, by chain 56, to the axis 61 and thus determines an angular movement of this axis, On the axis 61 are fixed the parts. 67 with inclined surfaces, parts 68 of which face similar inclined surfaces attached to them. arm 62.
By the angular movement of. the axis 61 the arms 6 are pushed outwards by the inclined surfaces and the hubs. 3 "are released against the pull of springs 69 which tend to bring the arms 62 and the hubs 3". in order to prevent beforehand such an approximation or a return of the axis 61, there is provided at the coupling 65 a nose, 70 which rests in front of an elastic stop 71. This is only when the coupling is again released that the nose 70 slides laterally at the bottom of the stop 71 and that the approach of the hubs 3 "can take place.
It should be noted that the distance between the hubs. 3 "- respectively that
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
the inclined surfaces are of such a shape that the oscillating movement of the arms 60 and 62 does not act or only acts very little on the axial position of. 3 "hubs.
