<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Building system by means of perforated blocks in agglomerate of vegetable fibers and cement binder.
This invention relates to a new building system by means of perforated blocks of agglomerated plant fibers and 'cement binder, by which the construction can be carried out without the aid of structures, frames, shutterings, etc., such as 'They were required by other systems in use until now.
This new system consists essentially in that the aforementioned blocks are executed in all dimensions, but preferably with a very great length and different widths which correspond to those of the exterior walls or partitions; that they present, in addition to the lightening holes intended to form air chambers, other cavities having a section corresponding to that of the pillars, of the wall to be formed by these blocks, the two heads of which end by a concavity which corresponds to one half of the hole used to form the pillar.
These holes passing in the vertical direction are established
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in a position such that, when the blocks are placed one on top of the other in staggered rows, a perfect vertical correspondence of the holes one on the other is obtained, which gives a formwork for the pouring of the mortar used for the formation of pillars - bearing pillars or small binding pillars - as provided for the partitions. The blocks intended for this building system can thus be easily sawn, so that they allow by suitable cuts, in addition to the head connections for the formation of windows and doors, the formation of beam bodies in general.
One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown by way of example only, in the accompanying drawing, where FIG. 1 shows a facade, partly coated, of a building according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section, on a larger scale, of external walls and partitions.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a wall under construction.
Fig. 4 is a horizontal section of the window and door formation details.
Fig.5 is a perspective view of a floor formed in accordance with this invention.
Blocks 1 are made of a mixture of vegetable fibers, for example wood chips or wool, with a suitable agglomerate of cement and they have transverse holes 2 and 3, which normally serve to form air chambers, where any conduits can also be established. In addition, these air chambers increase the degree of soundproofing and insulation of the whole. The other holes 4 serve, as will be seen below, to form shuttering for the casting of the pillars.
The blocks end at the top with a hollow 5 which corresponds to half of the. hole. 4. Blocks 6 for the intermediate partitions. are identical except for the. proportions. These blocks can be
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
long, two or three meters, because their mixture of composition in which wood fiber prevails, is very light, while exhibiting-, when hardened, a very great resistance, comparable to that of fired materials. The construction by means of these blocks is very fast, as can be seen from the following description.
¯The blocks are placed one on top of the other in elevation on the foundations, of whatever type, by staggering them (figs. 1 and 3). In this way, the central hole 4 of a block is in perfect correspondence with the hole formed by the head recesses 5 of the two contiguous upper blocks.
We. thus forms, seat by seat, the entire height of the wall and we build the pillar or the pillars 7 by pouring in the holes 4 one. suitable mortar after having established the reinforcing irons 8 there.
The casting can also be carried out after the installation of each course or of several courses.
In order to form a transverse wall, the walls limiting the hole 4 are sawn in the transverse connecting zone, removing the sawn pieces and the block heads are approached from the transverse wall, thus forming the necessary formwork. The mortar is then poured into this formwork, after having placed the reinforcing bars therein. In this way, a pillar 7 'of larger dimensions will be obtained at this point, perfectly connecting the two walls at their intersection. The procedure is analogous to the angle pillar, in this case obtaining an angular pillar 7 ".
For the partitions 6, one operates as for the walls, these partitions being formed by blocks which differ from the blocks 1 only by the thickness.
The perforated block forming the upper and final chord of the wall will have a suitable horizontal groove (fig. 3), in which will have their seat the reinforcement and the mortar for the formation of the beams 9.
As one can see. in the detail of fig. 4, to form a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
window or door, the groove 5 is used, completing the formwork with the frame carrying the leaves of this window or this door.
In the case of floors, the invention can be achieved by using perforated elements 11 formed by a chipboard identical to that of the blocks, but having suitable shapes with. a hole or holes 12 and the slabs 13. The casting of the beam 14 is carried out by operating run for floors made of materialscui ts.
When the walls have been raised, they can be coated with any coating; these walls forming, 1 particularly thanks to the homogeneity of the material, a monolithic body bearing and non-sealable. These blocks or elements may have different shapes from those in the drawing; for example, they can be bent so as to force circular walls, flower beds of any shape, etc. In other words, these blocks can consist of these reetilinear or curvilinear elements perforated for all. construction requirement.
The walls and buildings formed by the blocks in question exhibit in high degree the property of great impermeability, insulation, soundproofing and fire resistance. The installation of these blocks is very easy and fast and their holes 2, 3 and 4, which form air streams, can also be used for the installation of pipes for the services of the house. In addition, these buildings allow space savings and a remarkable reduction in weight (their weight being 250 per cubic meter of wall instead of 16CO Kgs. As for ordinary bricks). The blocks 1 can be manufactured on site or on the job and they can be coated before or after their assembly. In the latter case, they only require the finishing work.
It is understood that the details of construction and of shape of these blocks may vary in practice, without thereby departing from the scope of the invention.
