DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY filed in support of an application for a PATENT OF INVENTION "Enclosure used to surround a source of electric light"
For the lighting of motor cars and in general for applications where it is a question of being able to have available light beams of a very exact shape, it has already been proposed to use lamps called "reflector lamps. "instead of the light sources usually employed hitherto constituted by an incandescent lamp and a removable reflector which is associated with it. These reflector lamps have a bulb in which the filament is mounted and a part of which, which has been given a special shape and which forms a mirror, serves as a reflector.

-tor.
To manufacture the lamp, the filament is centered with respect to the reflecting part and the filament therefore always occupies the desired position with respect to this reflecting part.
The manufacture of lamps of this kind involves some particular difficulties. We know that the metallic mirror of a reflector is always a vulnerable object. The object of the invention is to provide an enclosure used to surround an electric light source and together with this light source constituting a reflector lamp while avoiding the risks of deterioration of the reflecting part during manufacture, in particular during of the assembly, by fu- -sion, of its elements.
The electric light source enclosure which is the subject-matter of the invention and which is constituted by a part of molded glass reflecting on the internal face and by a closing window made of molded glass welded therein, by fusion, is arranged in such a way that the boundary surface of the mirror located near the fusion rim of the reflecting part is spatially separated from the fusion edges of the reflecting part and the glass closing by a stage in the reflecting part.
It should be noted that the molding of the reflecting part and of the closing glass of an enclosure of this type offers the advantage of making it possible to work with a substantially greater accuracy than in the case where these parts are obtained by blowing. To avoid, on the one hand, a deterioration of the reflecting layer when the lamp is in service and, on the other hand, the loss of light from the reflecting part when the lamp is in service, this part has been lined on its internal face. a reflective layer, for example, a layer of silver or aluminum.

-that the closing glass is welded, by fusion to the reflecting part, the edge of this part is not heated by the heat which occurs, so that the metallic mirror -that could be damaged and come off the part reflective.
In an advantageous embodiment of the enclosure which is the object of the invention, the welding edge of the by.
-reflective lens forming mirror and lens are provided with a centering rib and a centering groove which co-operate with each other and go around the entire surface. This ensures that the closing glass always occupies the desired position relative to the reflecting part, so that there is no risk that at certain points the solder joint of these two parts comes too closely to the reflecting part with unfortunate consequences.
According to the invention, there is an advantage in locally interrupting the co-operating rib and centering groove so that the closing window can occupy only one position relative to the reflecting part.
The description which will follow with regard to the accompanying drawing, given by way of example, will make it clear how the invention can be carried out, the particularities which emerge both from the drawing and from the description being of course part of the invention. invention.

Fig. 2 shows on an amplified scale the welding edge of the reflecting part and of the closing window.
Fig. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the reflecting part of the enclosure.

.The .Lamp shown in fig.1 comprises an enclosure -tituée by a closing window 1 and a reflective -sante part 2. It surrounds a filament 3 mounted on feed-in-current son 4 supported by contact pins 5 fixed to part 2. The reflecting part 2 is lined on its internal face with a reflecting layer 5 '. On zone AB of part 2, the latter is welded, by fusion to the corresponding part A'-B 'of the closing window I. The reflecting part 5' is separated from this welding zone by the stage 6, so that during welding the reflective layer 5 'does not risk being damaged by the action of heat from zones A -B and A' - B '.
In order to ensure that during the assembly of parts I and 2 the area AB actually touches the area A'-B ', part 1 has been provided with a circular centering rib 7 which fits in the circular centering groove 8 of part 2. This also ensures that the edges 9 of the closing window 1 occupy the desired position relative to the filament 3. In addition, part 2 is still provided with a stage 10 serving as an adjustment surface in position for the filament 3.
Figs. 3 and 4 show that the centering groove 8 has an interruption II and that there is provided in the centering rib 7 of the closing window I a corresponding recess 12. This makes the closing window can only occupy one position relative to the reflective part. It goes without saying that the front window I can have any desired profile or polishing.
