<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La figure 1 est une vue en élévation avec coupe partielle d'une machine à deux couteaux;
La figure 2 estune vueen plan de la machine;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Machine for cutting shoe soles.
The present invention relates to machines for cutting shoe soles and in particular soles based on elastic materials. The cutting of rubber-based materials, and especially any rubber-impregnated web or weaving material, has certain difficulties in being quickly and neatly performed into any desired shape. Especially. this difficulty appeared to the inventor in the manufacture of shoes having soles based on canvas and rubber.
In fact, in this industry, these special soles must, after being fixed to the upper, be cut in an exact and perfectly clean manner ...
The aim of the present invention therefore relates to a machine capable of giving satisfaction from all points of view,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
while allowing rapid work.
The main feature of this machine lies in the special shape of the cutting element, in the form of a bowl, the edge of the side wall of which forms the actual cutting edge.
This special knife is driven by a very high speed rotating movement and it is enough to move the shoe in front of this knife, to obtain a fast and clean cut. It is therefore sufficient to combine one or more of these tools with drive means in order to produce machines applicable to various industries and in particular to the industry of flanges for cutting soles.
By way of example, such a machine is described in detail below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is an elevational view partially in section of a two-knife machine;
Figure 2 is a plan view of the machine;
Figure 3 is a side view with partial section of the same machine, following these figures, a special knife 1, in accordance with the aforementioned requirements, is mounted at each end of a shaft 2, bearing on the bearings of a suitable frame 3, which also serves as a support for the transmission means and, optionally, for the motor means. the main function of these is to rotate the axis 2, and consequently the knives 1, in a rotational movement at very high speed. The knives 1 are fixed on said shaft 2 by an easy means, which should allow them to be easily removed.
In this case, this means consists in the introduction of four fixing screws 4, penetrating into a suitable plate 5, firmly fixed on said axis 2.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In front of each knife is placed a support 6, in the form of a plate provided with a blade spring 7. to apply the articles to be cut on said plate and thus prevent the worker from having to approach. too closely the fingers.
These supports 6 are mounted on a common axis 8 and they can therefore take any position compatible with the work to be performed. sum 'the knives are, in general, called upon to cut extremely wearing materials, it is necessary to ensure the sharpening as and when the dulling of the cutting edge.
This condition is fulfilled by the provision, opposite each knife, of a grinding wheel 9 in the form of a plate, mounted on an axis 10, guided and supported by a bearing 11, the position of which is adjustable at will, that is that is to say in proportion to the wear of the grinding wheel and the size of the knife used. For this purpose, the support !!. of the grinding wheel is fixed to an arm 13 which can oscillate around one end, this arm is arranged between an elastic element 14 and an adjustment needle 15. such that by moving the latter along its axis , the arm 13 and the grinding wheel 9 are moved in a corresponding manner.
For this purpose, the point 15 has a threaded part 16, engaging in a fixed element 17, also threaded. this needle ends, on the other hand, with an operating button 18, which can be easily actuated. The grinding wheels 9 are driven by a rapid rotational movement, in which the axis 10 of the grinding wheels carries , at the lower part, a pulley 19 around which is wound a belt actuated by the driving device of the machine.
Finally, various accessories can also be envisaged to complete the machine and in particular to ensure maximum safety against work accidents, to permanently clean the knives and, in particular, to rid them of cutting scrap and metal particles. derived from
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the sharpening operation. For this purpose, a scraper 20 can be kept in permanent contact with the side wall of the streams.
The machine will be supported by a suitable frame or table and means will be provided for starting and stopping the machine, etc.
It is understandable that the marls prescriptions can lead to the realization of various machines, especially if it is noted that the axis supporting the specious knife (s), conforming to the invention, can be horizontal, inclined or vertical. , depending on the application conditions, the position of this axis being determined by the working conditions.
There could also be disposed, at one end of a rotary shaft, such a special knife, according to the invention, and, at the other end, any tool capable of performing an operation before or after cutting, this tool being, for example, a brush, a grinding wheel, a smoothing or polishing tool, etc.
