<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Speed control system for electric motor.
The present invention relates to a speed control system for a traction motor and in particular for a trolleybus motor.
In electric vehicles and in particular in trolleybuses, obtaining a very low economic speed (walking without resistance) requires heavy motors with a large speed variation by weakening the field. On the other hand, it is desirable to obtain rapid arm acceleration between stopping and maximum speed; this rapid acceleration between a stop and an economical running speed is generally easy to obtain, but if one wants to obtain at the same time a great acceleration between the economical running speed and the maximum speed, one is obliged to use very powerful engines and therefore will give too much acceleration at low speed. for the comfort of the traveler as for the resistance of the transmission components and the chassis.
The invention relates to a control system which makes it possible to obtain a relatively large acceleration from standstill to the maximum speed without, however, leading to excessive accelerations at low speed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
To this end, the invention provides that the speed control system is obtained by a booster group.

The stabilization winding therefore has the effect of limiting the current in the traction circuit. This winding is connected to the terminals of a resistor through which the current flowing through the motor.

The figure schematically indicates the circuits of an adjustment system according to the invention.
The traction motor 2 comprises a series excitation 2a and an independent excitation 2b. In its circuit is interposed the generator 3 of a step-up-step-up group; the motor 4 of this group is supplied by the same network as the traction motor and is with derivative excitation. The excitation winding 3a of the generator of the step-up-step-down group is powered by an exciter 5 wedged on the shaft of the step-up-step-down group and comprising two separate windings 6 and 7. The stabilization winding 7 of the excibator 5 is connected to the terminals of a resistor 19 inserted in the extraction circuit. This winding is arranged in such a way that it always tends to lower, by means of the machine 3, the voltage across the traction motor when the current drawn by it has increased. A regulator 20 interposed in the stabilization winding acts as an automatic limiter of the traction current and comes into play only when this current exceeds a determined value. The current limiting effect exists both in traction operation and in recovery operation of motor 2.
The rheostat 9 comprises two cursors 9a, 9b moving respectively in the direction of the

During this movement, the voltage at the terminals of the adjustment winding 6 goes from a negative maximum value to the same positive maximum value so that the voltage supplied by the generator 3 of the step-up-step-down unit can vary from - V up to + V. Under these conditions, the voltage at the terminals of the traction motor 2 varies from zero to + 2V volts.
On the shaft of the booster-step-down group is also wedged a centrifugal force speed limiter 12 which acts to cut off the current in the circuit of motor 4 of the booster-step-down group and at the same time to make this motor deliver on a non-resistor. figured.
Thanks to the invention, the traction motor can be of reduced dimensions and it can provide a very low economic running speed without creating too great an acceleration at this time; the acceleration can however have a very appreciable value between the economical walking speed and the maximum walking speed.
The proposed arrangement also offers the following advantages:
