<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

semble d'une machine; la figure 3 montre, en coupe verticale, une variante d'exécution du porte-couteau mobile;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Device for a cutting, punching, stamping machine and the like".
The present invention relates to a mechanical device, specially designed for the equipment of any cutting machine, stamping and, in general, any machine working by reciprocating motion.
The object of the invention is to provide such a mechanism, adaptable to said machines, with considerable efficiency and with the intervention of a minimum number of labor.
With the intervention of this original mechanism, the machine works automatically by the displacement of a single member, the engagement of the driving elements being carried out systematically and, preferably, at the instant of the lower dead center of the machine. the engine itself, which automatically avoids
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tic any shock in the machine.
This constitutes a considerable advantage, owing to the extraordinarily high forces which develop in this type of machine and in particular in shears, punching machines and others.
In order to clearly show the characteristics of the invention, reference is made below to its application to an aepenclant shears that gela does not constitute any restriction on the application of the invention.
According to the invention, this kinematic device comprises, in main order, a blade holder integral with the movable knife, combined with an attack pawl mounted 'exoentrically with respect to the drive member, which can be controlled, directly or indirectly, by the driving force.
In addition, said pawl, normally returned to the retracted position, can be brought into the active position by a combination of levers, which can be operated by hand, or, preferably, by a pedal.
Under these conditions, in the state of rest, the pawl is placed outside the blade holder carrying the knife, so that, if, in this state, the machine is put into operation, the pawl, following its eccentric movement , will move outside said blade holder and the machine will therefore run empty.
In order to engage the knife, it is important to actuate the appropriate member, for example a pedal, moving the slider provided to push the pawl back into a characteristic position, which determines the contact between said pawl and the head of the pawl. blade holder, duly pre-threaded for this purpose.
In its rotary eccentric movement, the aliquet moves the said blade holder, thus actuating the knife in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
direction of cut. In its return movement, the pawl retracts and the blade holder automatically returns to its initial position, which brings about the release of the cutter and, consequently, the possibility of introducing a new section of coupled bar.
This simple arrangement, but particularly effective, allows extremely fast cuts, in particular. ment of the order of forty per minute and more, the speed being limited by the time for placing the bars between the knives, respectively fixed and mobile.
It should be noted that, in addition to the more particular efficiency of the kinematic device adopted, it also has the advantage of being able to be triggered instantaneously and by the sole release of the single member dependent on the attendant. In fact, releasing the pedal, for example, instantly brings about the withdrawal of the linkage and the erasing of the crank, and, consequently, the instantaneous immobilization of the withdrawal of the knife.
These various elements can be arranged in various ways and present various profiles, depending on the type of machine desired.
In fact, these profiles and arrangements will, in general, be determined by the situation of the movable knife and the type of work to be performed. However, in order to bring out even more clearly the essential characteristics of the invention, an embodiment, given purely as an example, is set out in detail below and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which : FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the kinematic device, forming the essential characteristic of the invention; Figure 2 is an elevational view showing the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
looks like a machine; FIG. 3 shows, in vertical section, an alternative embodiment of the movable knife holder;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a movable but6e of the knife holder., according to Figure 3,
According to these figures, and in particular according to Figure 1, the movable knife 1, working together with a fixed knife 2, to cut the bar sections 3, for example, is integral with a blade holder 4 of special shape, capable of rotating around a fixed are 5. This porto-blade is profiled so as to present an upper beo 6, projecting on the head 7 of said blade holder, which extends circularly on a determined seoteur. This blade holder is used in combination with an attachment pawl 8, mounted eccentrically with respect to the axis 10 of the drive member, controlled directly or indirectly by the motor means.
This pawl 8 has, at the top, a boss 9, which forms a depression 11, in which the spout 6 can take support, when the blade holder is pushed back, by the said pawl 8. Normally, the latter is returned to position. cleared by a spring 12, fixed, on the other hand, to a fixed part of the frame of the machine.
In this position, the pawl comes into contact with a roller 13, terminating an oscillating lever 14, mounted on a pivot 15 and made integral with a pedal 16, through the intervention of a rod 17. This pedal 16 is judiciously placed in the appropriate place on the machine, so that it can be operated without fatigue by the attendant.
All of these elements are such that by exerting a push on the pedal 16, the rod 17, being moved forward, causes the lever 14 to oscillate around the pivot 15,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
which causes the movement of the oliquet 8 by the roller 13. This movement is such that the pawl comes into contact with the nose 6 of the blade holder 4, as indicated in the dotted position in FIG. 1. Consequently, the machine being switched on running, said pawl 8, being driven by an eccentric movement around
4 of axis 10, push the blade holder / upwards, thus operating the movable knife 1.
In its return movement, the pawl 8, always in contact with the roller 13, moves aside along the circular part 7 of the blade holder, thus freeing the nose 6 and, consequently, the knife 1. , which normally returns to the erased position. This @yole of operations can be repeated at an extremely rapid rate, in the absence of any shock forces and any mechanical complications.
The simple fact of releasing the pedal 16 brings them back to the high position, by antagonistic inaction of the return spring 18, which causes almost instantaneously, the oscillation in the opposite direction of the lever 14, the withdrawal of the roller 13, the return of the pawl 8, and, consequently, the absolute immobilization of the blade holder 4 and of the movable knife 1. These kinematic elements can be easily incorporated into a machine of operation and easy access, in particular according to the illustration of figure 2.
It will be noted that it suffices to have all of these elements supported by an appropriate frame 19.
On the other hand, on the axis 10 can be mounted a toothed wheel 80 meshing with a toothed pinion 31, on the axis of which can be mounted a gear or a drive pulley 6, in connection with an electric motor. ,for example.
By establishing adequate relations between the modulus of the gears, a suitable movement of the blade holder 4 and also an extremely high cutting effect will be achieved.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
powerful knife 1.
Obviously, such a machine can be supplemented by all the accessories generally in use in the field of machine tools.
Obviously numerous modifications, especially of a constructional nature, could be made in this type of machine, in particular by modifying the shape and the relative position of the various elements of the machine. For example, various devices could be provided to determine a variable spacing between the fixed knife 8 and a stop 22, in order to ensure, with the minimum of fatigue and the maximum speed, the cutting of bars of different diameter.
In the example of FIG. 2, such a variation between the knife 2 and the stop 22, is obtained by the special fixing of the latter on an eccentric axis 23.
In order to immobilize the stop 22, a lever 24, mounted by screwing on the axis 23, exerts a lateral force, specific to. oppose unwanted movements of said stop. However, a simpler device consists in placing the stop 22 in a housing 23, the bottom of which is provided with a certain number of removable plates, such as 24, 25, 26. These plates are mounted on a pin. common 27 and can revolve around it. However, with the aim of systematically preventing overhangs, the first plate comprises a lateral lug 28, coinciding with a notch 29 of the following plate 25. The latter has, at. in turn, a lug 30, coinciding with a notch 31, of the neighboring plate 26.
Under these conditions, it becomes impossible to remove the third or the second plate without systematically removing the one on the left. We are therefore assured that the stop 22 will always rest on a perfectly held plate, that is to say without overhang.
In order to prevent the stop 22 from being removed from the
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of the housing 23, the latter has a slot 32, in which engages a lug 33, integral with the stop.
Thus, to increase or reduce the spacing between the fixed knife 8 and the stop 22, it suffices to remove or replace the expected number of plates, by rotating them around the axis 27,
A host of other constructional variations can still be designed and executed, while achieving aepen, giving an equivalent result.
The aforementioned characteristics can, on the other hand, be used together, individually, or in combination with other equivalent elements or of equivalent function. Also, these features can be incorporated in fast working automatic machines, or even in manual or semi-automatic machines.
The invention also provides for the application of the characteristics developed above to the shears used in any type of industry.
