"Brûleur perfectionné. "

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Tout efois, à l'effet de bien faire comprendre les différentes caractéristiques de l'invention, un mode d'exécution est décrit ci-après, à titre purement exemplatif, et schématise aux figures ci-jointes, dans lesquelles;
La figure 1 est une vue en élévation avec coupe partielle par les parties haute et basse de l'appareil;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Perfected burner."
The present invention relates to an improved burner that can be fed by any type of solid fuel.
The object of the invention is to provide a solid fuel burner, in which the ash removal and the loading of the furnace take place in a completely automatic manner and duly controlled by the actual conditions of use.
Another object of the invention is to obtain maximum fuel efficiency by an original arrangement of the fireplace proper, which is for this purpose judiciously combined with a new air distribution.
In general, the hearth is profiled to allow the draft air to be distributed so that one part entrains volatiles and unburned gases, while the other part, strongly heated to the contact from the back of the hearth, meets the first part and ignites the

aforesaid fuel res. @
Under these conditions, a real burner is obtained. whose activity is more or less depending on the draft is, forced or normal.
In addition to this characteristic, the hearth is mobile, so that, with the intervention of an appropriate mechanical combination, it can undergo periodically, and in a duly controlled manner, a backing movement determining the evacuation of the gases. solid residues. of combustion.
This mechanism constitutes one of the essential characteristics of the invention, due to the fact that the relatively considerable force necessary to obtain the cleaning of the fire and in particular the expulsion of the bottom ash, is determined by a very low power motor.
Indeed, the inventor took advantage of the considerable time at his disposal to create a gradually accumulated energy potential. This result is obtained by the fact that at the intervention of a speed reducer, a powerful spiral spring is banàé and is capable, at the opportune moment, of moving almost instantaneously the mechanism operating the recoil of the firebox. it will be understood that, under these conditions, the fire can be easily maintained in a systematically automatic and perfectly controlled manner. In addition, the mechanism can be easily adjusted both in the frequency of the ash removal and in the amplitude of the backward movement of the fireplace.
By means of these prescriptions, it will be understood that the burner can be presented in a wide variety of constructional forms and, therefore, it will be possible to rationally assign this apparatus to all the requirements of practical applications.
Indeed, the object of the invention is the economic application both for domestic use and for internal applications.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
However, in order to make the various characteristics of the invention clearly understood, one embodiment is described below, purely by way of example, and shown diagrammatically in the accompanying figures, in which;
Figure 1 is an elevational view partially sectioned through the top and bottom parts of the device;
FIG. 8 is a cross section of the device with a side view of the upper part.
According to these figures, it should be noted that the actual hearth 1 is constituted by a receptacle simply placed on its supports, and the bottom and the front wall of which are externally lined with ribs, forming a heat recuperator.
This fireplace is shaped so that its front wall forms a partition determining two separate passages 8 and 3, respectively for the evacuation of a part of draft air conveying the unburned gases and volatile materials of the fuel, and of the another part of draft air brought to very high temperature in contact with the bottom and the front wall of the specially profiled hearths 4 for this purpose.
These two air currents open out into a common passage 4, in a way forming the actual burner, in which the unburned gases are ignited by the hot air current.
A more or less long flame is therefore normally obtained in this place, depending on the extent of the draft towards the boiler or the place of use of the burner.
In the upper part of the hearth 1 opens the hopper 5 respectively forming the fuel tank and the loading element of the hearth. A shutter 6 allows the burner to be extinguished.
The draft can be performed either normally by the boiler duct, or in a forced manner, with the intervention of a fan 8. In order to ensure the ordinary draft,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the rear part of the tank 9 containing the removable ashtray 10 is provided with a valve 11, normally open, by gravity.
Under these conditions, the draft air intake is normally made through orifice 12 and thus passes through the mass of fuel in the ordinary manner. On the other hand, the fan 8 is connected simultaneously with the upper part of the hearth 1. and the space comprised between the bottom of the hearth and the lower wall 13 forming the envelope of the hearth, this distribution is obtained by the arrangement side oarneaux.
However, in order to adjust the upper passage of air called to enter the unburned gases in proportion to the quantity of the fuel, a register 14 is provided, which can be fixed beforehand in the desired position, thus obstructing more or less monk the upper air passage.
It will easily be understood the importance of being able to adjust this air passage according to the volatile matter content of the solid fuel used.
It should be noted, on the other hand, that the chamber 9 will normally be pressurized by the blowing and, therefore, the valve 11 will instantly obstruct the orifice 1a. thus preventing any depression or untimely evacuation of ash or coal dust.
Under these conditions, the forced draft will operate as indicated above.
Finally, the automatic ash removal mechanism substantially comprises a speed reducer 15, capable of actuating at a suitable speed the pawl 16, controlling a ratchet wheel 17 connected, on the other hand, with a pawl. safety 18. The ratchet wheel 17 is attached to a hollow shaft 19, the other end of which is attached to one end of a spiral spring 20.
The free end of this normally rests on a crank pin 21, firmly fixed in a sleeve 28. the latter is mounted
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
on the threaded portion 23 of the pin 24 passing through the hollow shaft 19. Under these conditions, each rotational movement of the pin 24 will correspond to a translational movement of the sleeve 22.
However, the latter is terminated by an eccentric 86 controlling the kinematic movement of ash removal of the hearth. Also, this same eccentric 25 is normally engaged by its permanent contact with a stop 26, integral with the frame of the machine. The purpose of the translational movement of the sleeve 22 is to release the eccentric 25 from the stop 26 and thus allow, at the appropriate time, the spring 20 to disengage energetically and thus suddenly engage the ash removal mechanism. This is formed by a rod 27, integral with the aforementioned eccentric 25 and bearing below in the slide 28 of an elbow lever 29 joined to the hearth by a rod 30.
Under these conditions, the instantaneous rotational movement of the eccentric 25 will have the aim of energetically moving the elbow lever 29 around the pivot 31 and thus suddenly pulling the focus 1 rearward. The return of the home to its normal position will therefore be done in a regular manner.
It should be noted that the slide 28 terminating one of the branches of the angled lever 29, makes it possible to judiciously preset the amplitude of the ash removal movement of the fireplace. On the other hand, the arrangement of the latch 16 and of the eccentric which connects it to the speed reducer 15, makes it possible to adjust the displacement of the hollow shaft 19 in proportion to the rotation of the reducer 15, which therefore allows to pre-establish the frequency of de-ashing. Indeed, it should be noted that the fan and, consequently, the motor which drives it, are actuated only periodically, for example with the intervention of a thermostat, when a forced draft is required. and, consequently, on the position of the catch 16 will depend on the rapidity of the loading of the spring 20.
It will therefore be immediately noticed that, under these conditions,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the ash removal will be done in a rigorously automatic manner at perfectly preset times and with force.
The ashes and any solid residues from the combustion will be automatically discharged into the ash pan 10, which will therefore simply have to be emptied from time to time,
This installation may, of course, have numerous modifications both in the shape of its various parts and in their relative position.
Modifications can also be made to the various means and mechanical parts operating the ash removal. Indeed, the levers, jig, axis, etc., may * be replaced by equivalent parts or of equivalent function. be
The force of the spring tire may also / modified, in particular by the arrangement at the end of the axis 24 of a lever .lA, provided with a lock that can * be introduced into the corresponding holes of the roohet wheel 17 .
It will be understood, in fact, that it will thus be easily possible to modify the initial tension of the spring and, consequently, to influence the driving force of this part.
Another variant would consist in putting the fuel tank 5 in relation to the fan. [, So as to ensure a voltage equilibrium above and below the fuel, which would systematically prevent any backflow of gas and dust towards the place where the tank is loaded, thus making it superfluous to have a completely sealed shutter.
Finally, it should also be noted that the apparatus could present far-reaching modifications by providing a tank 5, of very large dimensions, in particular for solid fuels of reduced density, consequently implying a large flow rate. obtaining a normal number of calories with use.
