Considérant qu'il résulte des justifications fournies à l'appui de la requête que le brevet No 405.040 pour 1-Tachine à lessiver , n' a pu être exploité , par suite de l'état de guerre, pendant une période équivalent à quatre années d'exploitation normale ;
Considérant, d'autrepart, que le maximum de prolongation prévu par l'arrêté-loi du 8 juillet 1946 estfixé à cinq ans;
ARRETE:
ARTICLE PREMIER. - La durée du brevet No 405 .040 pour : Machine à lessiver, accordé à Becquet, D. Mademoiselle , pourprendre cours le 4 septembre 1934 , cédé à SOFED , Sté Ame, suivant notification du 3-9-46, est prolongée de quatre années.
ART. 2. - La prolongation est accordée sous condition du paiement, dans le mois de son octroi, de la taxe spéciale prévue à l'art. 6 de l'arrêté-loi du 8 juillet 1946 précité.
ART. 3. - Le présent arrêté sera annexé au titre du brevet.

Machine à lessiver.
La présente invention concerne les machines à lessiver qui comportent un dispositif de lavage à mouvement alternatif et un panier d'essorage rotatif montés concentriquement dans la cuve à linge et susceptible d'étre actionnés à tour de rôle par un mécanisme de commande commun. Elle a pour objet une machine à lessiver de ce genre, qui se distingue par la simplicité de sa construction, son efficacité et les commodités qu'elle offre en permettant d'exécuter successivement toutes les opérations de trempage, bouillage, lavage, rinçage, azurage et essorage sans retirer le linge de la cuve.
La simplicité de construction et la commodité d'enploi de la machine à lessiver suivant l'invention tiennent à certaines particularités de sa conception dont les principales sont le montage du mécanisme de commande au-dessus de la machine de telle façon qu'il laisse entièrement libre l'accès de la

cuve à linge, l'accouplement de ce mécanisme au panier d'esso- rage par la simple mise en place du couvercle de ce dernier, et la conjugaison avec le panier d'essorage d'un dispositif de lavage agissant à la fois par battage du linge et par refoule- ment et aspiration de l'eau à travers celui-ci et la paroi ajourée du panier.
Ces particularités et quelques autres encore seront décrites en détail ci-après avec référence au dessin annexé qui représente, à titre d'exemple, une machine à lessiver con- forme à l'invention, vue en coupe verticale.
La cuve à linge 1 de la machine, supportée par un bâti 2 au-dessus d'un foyer 3, contient un panier d'essorage rotatif 4 et, à l'intérieur de ce panier, un plateau battoir 5 à mouvement alternatif de monte et baisse, représenté à son point mort haut.
Tant le panier d'essorage 4 que le battoir 5 peuvent être actionnés soit à la main au moyen d'une manivelle 6, soit par force motrice à l'aide d'un moteur électrique 7 fixé à la partie inférieure du bâti 2, la manivelle et le moteur agis- sant sur le mécanisme de commande commun du panier et du bat- toir, la première par un arbre horizontal 8 et le second par un arbre vertical 9, un renvoi à pignons d'angle 10,11 et un arbre horizontal 12. Les arbres parallèles 8 et 12 sont rendus solidaires par deux roues dentées qui s'engrènent et dont l'une 13 de grand diamètre est accouplée par une bielle 14 à la tige 15 du battoir 5, tandis que l'autre roue 16 de petit diamètre est simplement calée sur l'arbre 12.
Celui-ci porte en bout un pignon d'angle 17, en prise constante avec un pignon 18 ca- lé sur un arbre tubulaire vertical 19 qui entoure la tige 15 et supporte le couvercle 20 du panier d'essorage.

la cuve 1, sur une traverse de support 21 articulée à une extrémité en 22 au bâti 2 et verrouillable à celui-ci à l'extré- mité opposée, au moyen d'un loquet 23. Grâce à cette disposition, on peut dégager entièrement le dessus de la cuve pour y placer le linge ou l'en retirer par exemple, simplement en relevant d'une pièce le mécanisme de commande avec la traverse 21, par pivotement autour de l'articulation 22 comme c'est montré en traits mixtes sur le dessin.
Dans les machines similaires ayant le mécanisme de commande au-dessus de la cuve, ce mécanisme est porté par une partie fixe du couvercle de la cuve et l'on ne peut accéder à l'intérieur de celle-ci que par une ouverture de petites dimensions en relevant la partie mobile du couvercle. La présente disposition rend donc beaucoup plus commode l'emploi de la machine à lessiver.
Eventuellement, la traverse 21 peut couvrir l'entière surface de la cuve 1 pour former couvercle sur celle-ci. Ce n'est toutefois pas nécessaire étant donné que la majeure partie de la section de la cuve est fermée par le couvercle 20 du panier d'essorage, lequel couvercle se lève avec la traverse 21 ainsi que le battoir 5 pour donner accès à l'intérieur du panier 4. La levée de la traverse 21 a aussi pour effet de désaccoupler le moteur électrique 7 du mécanisme de commande en séparant les pignons 10, 11, ce qui écarte tout danger de mise en marche intempestive de la machine lorsque la cuve est ouverte.
Lorsqu'on rabat la traverse 21 sur la cuve, les pignons 10, 11 rentrent en prise, le couvercle 20 s'adapte sur le panier d'essorage 4 et la machine est prête à fonctionner.
Pour laver le linge au moyen du battoir 5, on accouple la tige 15 de celui-ci au mécanisme de commande à l'aide, par exemple, d'une vis de serrage 24, d'une fixation à baïonnette ou de tout

autre accouplement approprié, tandis qu'on débraye le panier d'essorage en ouvrant l'accouplement à griffes 25 pour désolidariser le pignon 17 de l'arbre 12. Sous l'action de la manivelle ou du moteur, le battoir 5 qui exécute la partie haute de sa course hors de l'eau remplissant la cuve 1 jusqu'à un niveau déterminé, vient battre le linge avec force et en même temps agit comme un piston dans le panier 4 en refoulant et aspirant alternativement l'eau à travers le linge et la paroi ajourée du panier, dans l'espace annulaire séparant cette paroi de celle de la cuve 1.
L'action combinée de battage et de pompage se montre très efficace pour le lavage rapide du linge.
Pour l'opération d'essorage, on désaccouple la tige 15 du battoir en desserrant la vis 24, ce qui permet au manchon de tête de bielle 26 de coulisser sur la tige sans l'entraîner, et on ferme l'accouplement 25. La rotation de l'arbre 12 est alors transmise au panier d'essorage par les pignons 17, 18, l'arbre tubulaire 19 et le couvercle 20 qui joue le double rôle d'embrayage et d'organe de centrage pour le panier.
En effet, lorsque la traverse 21 est relevée avec le couvercle 20 pour dégager la cuve, le panier 4 se trouve complètement débrayé de sa commande et d'autre part il peut osciller légèrement sur son pivot 26, en penchant du côté le plus chargé, ce qui permet de ce rendre compte du déséquilibre éventuel de la charge de linge et de rectifier la disposition de celui-ci dans le panier en vue d'éviter les vibrations de la machine aux grandes vitesses d'essorage. Le rabattement de la traverse
21 applique sur le panier 4 le couvercle 20 qui est avantageu- sement muni d'un rebord 27 dont l'emboîtement dans l'ouverture du panier assure un bon contact d'entraînement et le centrage automatique du panier dans l'axe de l'arbre tubulaire 19.

et en 29 dans une chaise à palier fixée sur la traverse.
Le foyer 3 situé sous la cuve 1 et destiné à brûler du charbon ou du bois pour fournir la chaleur nécessaire au bouillage du linge, est également utilisable pour le chauffage au gaz. A cet effet, il renferme une rampe à gaz 30 (vue en coupe transversale sur le dessin) qui est montée avantageusement sur la porte 31 du foyer.
La vidange de la cuve 1 s'effectue par un robinet 32 branché au fond de la cuve.
Il est clair que la machine qui vient d'être décrite permet, malgré la simplicité de sa construction, d'exécuter avec le maximum de commodité toutes les opérations du lessivage, et qu'elle peut facilement être actionnée à la main aussi bien qu'au moteur, avec les mêmes résultats grâce à son mécanisme de commande à engrenages agissant comme multiplicateurs ou réducteurs suivant le cas.
Bien entendu, l'invention n'est pas limitée aux détails d'exécution représentés à titre d'exemple et on ne sortirait pas de son cadre en y apportant des modifications.
REVENDICATIONS ---------------------------
1.- Machine à lessiver comprenant un dispositif de lavage alternatif et un panier d'essorage rotatif montés concentriquement dans la cuve à lessive, caractérisée en ce que le mécanisme de commande actionnant ces organes est monté audessus de la cuve sur une traverse avec laquelle tout le mécanisme peut être relevé d'une pièce par pivotement, pour dégager complètement le dessus de la cuve.

Laundry machine.
The present invention relates to washing machines which comprise a washing device with reciprocating motion and a rotating spin basket mounted concentrically in the laundry tub and capable of being operated in turn by a common control mechanism. It has for object a washing machine of this kind, which is distinguished by the simplicity of its construction, its efficiency and the conveniences which it offers by allowing to carry out successively all the operations of soaking, boiling, washing, rinsing, blueing. and spinning without removing the laundry from the tub.
The simplicity of construction and the convenience of use of the washing machine according to the invention derive from certain peculiarities of its design, the main ones being the mounting of the control mechanism above the machine in such a way that it leaves completely free access to the

laundry tub, the coupling of this mechanism to the spin basket by simply fitting the lid of the latter, and the combination with the spin basket of a washing device acting both by beating of the laundry and by pushing and sucking water through it and the perforated wall of the basket.
These features and a few others will be described in detail hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows, by way of example, a washing machine in accordance with the invention, viewed in vertical section.
The laundry tub 1 of the machine, supported by a frame 2 above a hearth 3, contains a rotating spin basket 4 and, inside this basket, a beater plate 5 with reciprocating upward movement. and drop, shown at its top dead center.
Both the spin basket 4 and the beater 5 can be operated either by hand by means of a crank 6, or by driving force using an electric motor 7 fixed to the lower part of the frame 2, the crank and motor acting on the common control mechanism of the basket and the drum, the first by a horizontal shaft 8 and the second by a vertical shaft 9, an angle pinion gear 10,11 and a shaft horizontal 12. The parallel shafts 8 and 12 are made integral by two toothed wheels which mesh and one of which 13 of large diameter is coupled by a connecting rod 14 to the rod 15 of the beater 5, while the other wheel 16 small diameter is simply wedged on the shaft 12.
The latter carries at the end an angle pinion 17, in constant mesh with a pinion 18 cast on a vertical tubular shaft 19 which surrounds the rod 15 and supports the lid 20 of the wringing basket.

the tank 1, on a support cross member 21 articulated at one end at 22 to the frame 2 and lockable to the latter at the opposite end, by means of a latch 23. Thanks to this arrangement, it is possible to completely release the top of the tub to place the laundry in or remove it for example, simply by lifting the control mechanism with the cross member 21 in one piece, by pivoting around the articulation 22 as shown in phantom on the drawing.
In similar machines having the operating mechanism above the tank, this mechanism is carried by a fixed part of the tank cover and the interior of the latter can only be accessed through a small opening. dimensions by raising the movable part of the cover. The present arrangement therefore makes the use of the washing machine much more convenient.
Optionally, the cross member 21 can cover the entire surface of the tank 1 to form a cover thereon. This is not necessary, however, since the major part of the section of the tub is closed by the lid 20 of the wringing basket, which lid rises with the cross member 21 as well as the beater 5 to give access to the. inside the basket 4. The lifting of the cross member 21 also has the effect of uncoupling the electric motor 7 from the control mechanism by separating the pinions 10, 11, which eliminates any danger of accidental starting of the machine when the tank is opened.
When the cross member 21 is folded over the tank, the pinions 10, 11 engage, the cover 20 fits onto the spin basket 4 and the machine is ready to operate.
To wash the laundry by means of the beater 5, the rod 15 thereof is coupled to the operating mechanism using, for example, a clamping screw 24, a bayonet fixing or any other

another suitable coupling, while the spin basket is disengaged by opening the claw coupling 25 to separate the pinion 17 from the shaft 12. Under the action of the crank or the motor, the beater 5 which performs the the upper part of its stroke out of the water filling the tank 1 to a determined level, beats the laundry with force and at the same time acts as a piston in the basket 4 by alternately pushing and sucking the water through the laundry and the perforated wall of the basket, in the annular space separating this wall from that of the tank 1.
The combined action of threshing and pumping is very effective in washing laundry quickly.
For the spinning operation, the rod 15 is disconnected from the beater by loosening the screw 24, which allows the connecting rod sleeve 26 to slide on the rod without driving it, and the coupling 25 is closed. rotation of the shaft 12 is then transmitted to the wringing basket by the pinions 17, 18, the tubular shaft 19 and the cover 20 which plays the dual role of clutch and of centering member for the basket.
Indeed, when the cross member 21 is raised with the cover 20 to release the tank, the basket 4 is completely disengaged from its control and on the other hand it can oscillate slightly on its pivot 26, leaning on the side with the most load, which makes it possible to take account of the possible imbalance of the load of linen and to rectify the arrangement of the latter in the basket in order to avoid vibrations of the machine at high spin speeds. The tank 1 is emptied via a tap 32 connected to the bottom of the tank.
It is clear that the machine which has just been described allows, despite the simplicity of its construction, to carry out with the maximum convenience all the washing operations, and that it can easily be operated by hand as well as by hand. to the motor, with the same results thanks to its gear control mechanism acting as multipliers or reducers as appropriate.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the details of execution shown by way of example and one would not depart from its scope by making modifications thereto.
