Fig. 1 montre en vue latérale le disposition selon l'in- vention.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Mechanism for releasing money in vending machines".
The present invention relates to vending machines in which an inserted coin having passed through a coin verifier descends towards a coin release mechanism which only allows the automatic merchandise oases of the machine to be opened if a coin coin is in this mechanism, and which releases this coin after opening a cargo locker.
It is very important in order to avoid abusive use of the automaton that the coin release mechanism works with great safety. More particularly, the invention relates to a coin release mechanism for use in combination with an automatic door locking mechanism, in which a vertical control bar is raised and lowered when the door is opened and closed. one of the cargo racks.
It is already known in the art of li-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
bératon of currency of this kind, to unilaterally make a swivel arm cooperate with the vertical control bar; however, this implies the use of springs to force the aforesaid arm to follow all the movements of the control bar. Since springs are always a weak point of a mechanism, they should be avoided as much as possible and the present invention therefore aims to avoid the use of springs by making the cooperation of the mechanism bilateral. arm with the control bar, by the fact that this arm is provided with legs which embrace a heel of the control bar so that said arm receives its movement by the cooperation of the legs with the aforesaid heel.
Another means of obtaining bilateral cooperation between the arm and the control bar consists, according to the invention, in providing the arm with a guide path in which a tenon located on the control bar moves. Alternatively, this guide path can be made in the control bar and the pin is on the arm.
When opening one of the doors of the automaton, the aforesaid arm will rotate in the known manner, through the intermediary of the coin, as a distance piece, a second arm, which, according to the 'invention, may include an adjustable screw whose operation allows to vary the standard size of the coins for the machine.
If the coin drawer is removed from the machine, the second arm and possibly also the control bar are held, for example, by means of springs, in such a position that any door can be opened.
The drawing shows two embodiments of the coin release mechanism, one of which is shown in combination with a locking mechanism for doors of cargo boxes.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In these drawings:
Fig. 1 shows in side view the arrangement according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows this same device in section along line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 shows a somewhat modified embodiment, and
Fig. 4 shows this latest embodiment in combination with the coin drawer.
1 is a vertically movable control bar which carries already known lugs 2 for cooperation with the guide surfaces 6 of the arms 3 pivoted on fixed journals 5. These arms are rigidly connected, on the one hand, to the arms 7 which cooperate with locking bars 10 movable longitudinally, and, on the other hand, with the arms 8, which are in an articulated connection, by means of the arms with the doors 4 of the goods racks pivoted on the axes 11.
The locking bars 10, which, being covered by plates 13, are shown in dotted lines in the drawing, have a square section and are pointed at one of their ends so that, when opened, they can be opened. verture of the automaton, to fit more easily between a series of locking rods 14 bevelled at their ends, which rods 14 are placed one on top of the other and able to be moved in the direction of their length .
The bar 1 also carries a heel 20 which cooperates with the legs 17 and 18 of an arm 19 rotating on a journal 21. The latter arm also has a stop 22 by which it can cooperate, thanks to a coin. 23 drawn in dotted lines in FIG. 1, with another arm 24. The latter is capable of rotating on a pivot 25 and carries an adjustable screw 26 as well as a support tab 30 serving as a support.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to the coin 23. The arm 24 is further provided with a tip 27 intended to cooperate with the teeth 28 and an inclined edge 29 of the bottom of the bar 1. The latter is maintained in its extreme downward position. by a spring not shown.
In the embodiment of the coin release device shown in FIG. 3, the bar 1 cooperates with the arm 19 and, in particular, t via a lug 15 carried by the bar 1 and placed in a guide path formed in the arm 19; the latter is fixed so as to be able to pivot on the bar 1. It goes without saying that the cooperation of the bar 1 with the arm 19 can also be achieved in any other suitable manner.
In Fig. 4 the rotating arm 24 carries a stop intended to cooperate with an arm 33 actuated by a spring 32, an arm which cooperates with the aid of a lug 34 with the coin drawer 35.
When inserting a coin into the machine with the coin drawer in place, this coin must first pass through a coin verifier which only allows the coins determined for the machine to pass. Such a part 23 then tanbe in the position indicated in dotted lines in FIGS. 1 and 3, position in which it is caught between the stop 22 and the screw 26 and rests on the support tab 30.
If we now open one of the doors 4, the arms 3, 7 and 8 connected to this last turn around the pivot 5 and the lug 2 slides on the edge 6 of the arm 3 which turns upwards, so that the control bar 1 rises. The arm 7 drives the locking bar 10 to the right, inserting it in this way between a pair of locking rods 14. The rods 14 above will be pushed towards the top and, in particular, a distance equal to the thickness of the locking bar 10.
Therefore,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
if you try to open one of the upper compartments, the corresponding locking bar 10 will come up against the rods 14 between which it would have passed normally. The links 14 being below the displaced locking member 10 are rigidly immobilized between this member and the not shown bearing surface of the lowest rod 14 so that penetration between these latter rods of the locking bars 10 located below the open rack is made impossible.
When the door 4 opens, the control bar 1 rises, as mentioned, and the talcn 20 therefore rotates, using the tab 17, the arm 19 which presses by its stop 22 the coin 23. This transmits the pressure to the screw 26 which causes the arm 24 to rotate against the needle of a watch, the point 27 of which is released by turning from the upper tooth 28. The bar 1 can therefore be raised further a certain distance and the arms 19 and 24 turned further so that the tip 27 leaves by turning the next tooth 28 and so on, until the tip 27 is brought in. against the inclined plane 29 which forces the arm 24 to continue its rotation in the direction indicated.
At some point the coin 23 ceases to be held tight between the stopper 22 and the screw 26 and, as the support tab 30 has rotated out from under the coin 23, the latter will fall into a collector not shown placed at the bottom of the automaton.
The device according to FIG. 3 operates in the same manner as that described, with the difference that the movements are transmitted there from the control bar 1 to the arm 19 by the guide 15-16 instead of being transmitted by the members 17, 18 and 20.
When the door 4 is closed, the corresponding locking bar 10 is withdrawn from its position interposed between the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
locking rods 14 and the latter fall back into place; the control bar 1 is then pulled down by a spring, not shown. The tip 27 therefore slides along the edge 29 of the bar 1 and the teeth 28 and returns to its initial position; any further attempt to open a locker without a coin 23 in the locking mechanism will fail because, by abutting the upper tooth 28, the tip 27 prevents the upward movement of the bar 1.
In the event that a coin smaller than that suitable for the machine mistakenly passes the coin verifier and enters the blocking mechanism, the latter will only allow one of the doors to open slightly 4 because, Ion d 'an attempt to open one of these pairs, the tip 27 would abut against the second or third tooth 28 above. The tip 27 will therefore not be able to reach the edge 29.
It is useful, when servicing the machine, to be able to open each locker without having to insert a coin. The automaton is therefore arranged in such a way that the locker doors 4 can be opened not only when a coin 23 is in the locking mechanism, as shown in Figs. l and 3, but also when the coin drawer is removed from the machine.
To this end, the arm 24 has a minimum of a stop 31 and can be brought to the right by the arm 33, actuated by the spring 32, into a position such that the teeth 27 and 28 are no longer in engagement.
When the slide 35 is then put in place, the latter returns, against the resistance of the spring 32, the arm 33 in the position indicated in FIG. 4; arm 24 therefore rotates to its initial position, in which it holds the locker doors closed as teeth 27 and 28 re-engage.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
It is also optionally possible to have an arm actuated by a spring and not shown, which cooperates with the lower edge of the control bar.
