<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
rement de façon à pouvoir oontenir la tige plus mince ou queue d'une soupape qui lui est coaxiale; cette soupape s'appuie de par la pression de l'eau sur les bords d'une rondelle en cuir ou autre matière appropriée disposée co- axialement en dessous de la chambre d'expansion;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"NEW VALVE FOR PRESSURIZED WATER PIPES" The present invention relates to a novel valve for pressurized water pipes of the type where the shut-off member is kept closed by the simple fact of the pressure of the water pipe. water which normally acts on it.
In several valves of this type already known, action is taken on the closure system consisting for example of a valve by means of a threaded rod made integral with a ma-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
net that we rotate at will. This threaded rod contains at its lower internal part a central circular excavation in which a small valve stem or stem is housed.
It can also be seen in certain systems that the internal lower end of the rod (valve side) is constituted by a hollow reinforcement in the form of an acorn itself threaded externally, the latter being formed so that the water, once admitted to penetrate by the lifting of the obturation organ on which the glans acts directly is forced to enter the hollow part of the said acorn by thin small longitudinal openings, arranged in only a few places of its periphery and communicating with d other small circular lights arranged, following their axis, perpendicular to the first ones.
it is easy to understand that such a system literally stops and throttles the water jet by the enormous pressure drop caused by the successive passage through lights so arranged, which has the effect of providing the outlet of the faucet, a rather poor water flow. the object of the present invention is to remedy this state of affairs by means of a new valve which radically eliminates the pressure drops caused in particular by the system mentioned above, and which consequently considerably increases the flow rate. water from the pipes to which it is connected.
It consists essentially of a threaded rod which is acted on externally by means of a handle fixed at its outer end.
At its inner internal end, which plunges into the expansion chamber of the valve, the rod is hollowed out inside.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
rement so as to be able to oontenant the thinner rod or tail of a valve which is coaxial with it; this valve is supported by the pressure of the water on the edges of a washer of leather or other suitable material arranged coaxially below the expansion chamber;
the valve being of a diameter slightly greater than the opening of the leather which corresponds to that of the expansion chamber and on the other hand the threaded rod in which the valve stem fits being of a diameter smaller than that of the opening of the expansion chamber and of the underlying leather, it is easily understood that when the valve is moved its seat by acting on the rod through the intermediary of the handle, it creates around the said rod, and above the valve a vacuum in the form of a circular crown through which the liquid element can enter without any hindrance this time. This directly invades the expansion chamber without loss of load, from which it emerges directly through a circular opening made in its side in the direction of the outlet nozzle.
This device, which essentially characterizes the present invention, therefore has the effect of considerably increasing the flow rate of the valve by almost drastically removing any serious pressure drop.
By way of example, the figures show an alternative embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section through the body of the valve and the outlet nozzle.
Fig. 2 shows a section perpendicular to the section shown in FIG. 1.
Referring to said figures D shows the threaded rod which thanks to the thread F, F allows the screwing of the latter into the connection M; the latter comes to settle in turn
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
via the thread R, R on the body X of the valve, norps which connects directly to the piping; N represents the outlet nozzle, which is screwed through the V thread on the M connector.
G constitutes the cap of the valve which, integral with the handle H, is fixed with hard friction on the outer end of the rod 'D; I is a guide and closing nut which is screwed through the thread J on the connection M.
The valve is represented by S; it rests on a washer of leather or other similar material represented by C. This valve comes by means of a tail or rod T to fit into a circular cavity formed axially in the rod D.
0 represents what we call the expansion chamber and V the circular opening made in its side, opening giving passage to the liquid towards the outlet nozzle N.
; Fig. 1 shows the valve S placed on its seat C and held there by the effect of the water pressure which arrives in the direction indicated by the arrow; the valve is therefore represented as in its closed position.
If now we want water we will turn in the desired direction. lever H which will have the effect of lowering the rod D and thus detaching the valve from its seat via the stem or rod T of the valve. The valve being thus lowered (see in fig.
2) the water will enter chamber 0 all around the circumference of the circular crown formed by the space located between the periphery of the rod D and the periphery of the lower part of the chamber 0, the liquid will flow through the opening U towards the outlet nozzle N, It can be seen that the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
wise use of water thanks to this new system, takes place with practically zero pressure drop, and in this way it will be understood that the flow rate of the tap is far superior to all those of already existing taps. It will be understood and the figures clearly show that the rod D can be turned until the valve S comes to rest on the rim Z, which thus also causes the valve to close.
The valve can therefore be closed in two positions either that the valve S is placed on its seat
C by the pressure of the water, or that it comes to rest by the effect of the rod D on the edge Z.
It goes without saying that the invention could still be carried out according to other variants, the principle described above still finding its application there.
