<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
En suite de quoi, on obtient une rampe collectrice qui présente, entre autres, les avantages suivants : a) les conducteurs sont bien visibles et facilement répe- rables; b) ils sont facilement et rapidement démontables en cas d'avarie, ce qui permet de changer un conducteur détérioré sans avoir toucher aux autres câbles et sans devoir démonter la rampe du moteur; c) grâce au montage des conducteurs en faisceau hélicoï- dal, chaque conducteur se dégage à la sortie en face du cylin- dre à desservir et toujours dans la même position par rapport à celui-ci, ce qui facilite le raccordement aux bougies et sup- prime l'entrecroisment ou la superposition des câbles à proxi- mité des bougies;

PATENT OF INVENTION "Improvements made to wire collecting rails for the ignition of internal combustion engines, in particular to those for aerial locomotion vehicles".
The invention relates to the collecting rails of the wires for *! 'Ignition of internal combustion engines; and it concerns more especially (because it is in their case that its application seems to offer the most interest), but not exclusively, among these collecting lamps, those for aerial locomotion vehicles.
Its main aim is to make these devices such as they respond, better than hitherto, to the various desires of practice.
It consists, mainly, in constituting the collector rams of the type in question by a support along which the various electrical conductors to be considered are maintained and comprising means of holding and retaining which are distinct for the conductors or groups of conductors.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ductors corresponding respectively to the different cylinders which are to be ignited.
It consists, apart from this main provision, of certain other provisions, which are preferably used at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below, in particular in another provision, consisting in having in such a way as the conductor (s), provided for each
Clinch of the cylinders, that they leave the ramp opposite the cylinder, which they must ensure the ignition and this in a manner similar to that adopted for the conductors corresponding to the other cylinders, which can be obtained, more especially , by giving all the conductors a helical arrangement with respect to their support.
It relates more particularly to a certain mode of application (that in which it is applied to air locomotion vehicles) as well as certain embodiments of said provisions; and it aims more particularly still, and this at. new industrial products, the collector ramps of the kind in question comprising the application of these same provisions, the special components and tools specific to their establishment, as well as the installations, fixed or mobile (in particular the aerial locomotion vehicles) comprising similar collector ramps.
And it can, in any case, be well understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as of the appended drawing, which supplement and drawing are, of course, given above all to a. indication title.
Fig. 1 shows, in perspective, a ramp collecting wires for the ignition of an engine. internal combustion and established in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 shows, similarly, a variant of part of the arrangement according to fig, 1.
According to the invention, and more especially according to that of its modes of application as well as those of the embodiments.

tion of its various nettles, to which it seems that preference should be given, proposing to establish a collecting rail of the wires for the ignition of a multi-cylinder engine, with internal combustion and cylinders in star for an aerial locomotion device, one goes about it as follows, or in a similar way.
Cn is made to include the ranpe to establish, a rigid support for example a metal tube in a light bore and said support is given a profile and a suitable shape so that said support is located as close as possible to the spark plugs to be served . For the example shown in the drawing where it is an engine with star cylinders, the support is therefore given a circular shape. For V-shaped cylinders, on the other hand, the shape of the support recalls that of a U or the like.
The set of conductors - generally insulated cables or shielded wires - are established along said support and each conductor or group of conductors, corresponding to a cylinder, is reserved a well-determined location on said support. For this purpose is established, from place to place, on the latter, means suitable for maintaining the aforesaid conductor or conductors in the separate length which is reserved for them.
The aforesaid retaining means can be constituted by metal rings c, in aluminum for example, which are fixed on the support a and in which there are as many housings as there are cables to be channeled in the bus section. . The housings can be formed, for example by circular cells d1 (FIG. 1) which are open at the periphery of the ring c so that it is sufficient to freely place the conductor or conductors b to be considered therein.
When the set of conductors b are engaged respectively in their corresponding cells. 9, hoops or collars e, closed for example by a claw device so as to be easily removable, are engaged, from place to place, around the assembly formed by the support a and the wires b.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Housing can also be formed by al
2 live closed by circular holes d (fig. 2) distributed regularly over a circle, the conductors being introduced successively into the cells reserved for them. In this case, the cellars do not necessarily have to intervene.
Any other arrangement could, of course, be adopted as long as it fulfills the conditions that the conductor (s), corresponding to any one of the cylinders, occupy a clearly defined position which is clearly visible and well marked. the outside of the support a and that they are well maintained in the place reserved for them.
In addition, it is advantageous for the conductors b to occupy a position such relative to the ramp that at the point where they leave the latter to end with the spark plugs to be released, they each present themselves in turn in the same position in relation to the cylinder which they must ensure ignition. This mounting method forces the bundle of conductors to assume a helical shape with respect to the support a. Thanks to the judicious constitution of the housings d1 or d2, this assembly method presents no difficulty. It suffices, in fact, to pass each cable or each group of cables for the ur-cylinder spark plug (s) in a housing of one of the rings c and then in a housing, offset to the left or to the right with respect to the previous, of the next ring, to obtain the desired result.
We arrange, of course, for the conductor (s) to leave the last ring. ±. near the corresponding candle (s), while the connection of their other end to the had to the sources of electricity (magnetos) presents no difficulty. the support is made to include connecting means such as angles or hooks f which allow it to be mounted and fixed at appropriate points on the vehicle and for example on the engine itself. On the other hand, it is possible to make the support include at least one articulation or knee joint, for example its median part allowing a relative displacement.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
support branches thus formed, in order to facilitate assembly and disassembly.
As a result, a collector ramp is obtained which has, among others, the following advantages: a) the conductors are clearly visible and easy to spot; b) they are easily and quickly removable in the event of damage, which makes it possible to change a damaged conductor without having to touch the other cables and without having to remove the ramp from the engine; c) thanks to the assembly of the conductors in a helical bundle, each conductor emerges at the outlet opposite the cylinder to be served and always in the same position with respect to it, which facilitates connection to the spark plugs and sup - premiums the crisscrossing or superimposition of cables near the spark plugs;
d) the method of constituting the support and the retaining means pertaining to giving the assembly a minimum weight and size; e) thanks to the separate housings reserved for the different conductors, they cannot rub against each other, which prevents their wear and the production of electrical interference.
As goes without saying, and as it follows moreover already from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to that of its modes of application nor to those of the embodiments of its various parts, having more especially indicated; on the contrary, it embraces all the variations.
