<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Hunting rifle,
The invention relates to a hunting rifle with tilting barrels and its object is to increase the speed of reloading of the rifle.
For this purpose, the invention provides that a case containing reserve cartridges is mounted on the weapon, preferably on the left side thereof,
The invention also provides that this box is brought automatically, when the barrel (s) of the gun are tilted, in the axis of the latter so as to allow the introduction of the cartridges contained in this box, into the barrel (s) of the gun.
The appended drawings show by way of nonlimiting example one embodiment of the invention. This extends to the various original features included in the arrangement shown.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a hunting rifle provided with a reserve cartridge case shown in its operative position and dotted in its inoperative position
Fig.2 is a top view of the following box. invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig.3 is a section along A A in fig.2.
On the rocker 2 of the hunting rifle shown is mounted a support lever 3 on which is articulated at 4 a ring 5 (see fig.l and 2).
In this ring, a sleeve 6 open at the front is mounted with gentle friction and is made integral with a second sleeve 7 by agreements such as 8. Inside each of the aforesaid sleeves is arranged a cartridge 9 whose bottom bears against a spring 10 provided in the bottom of each sleeve and which tends to push the cartridge out of the sleeve, each cartridge being immobilized in movement in its sleeve due to the fact that pawls 12 (one per sleeve see fig. 2) pivoted at 13 on said bushings hook the bead 14 of each cartridge.
In addition, it should be noted that each of the pawls 12 is extended by an expansion 15, the role of which will be explained later.
Normally, when the rifle is in operation, the bush-bush assembly is folded over to the side of the weapon and occupies the dotted position (see fig. 1).
When the cartridges have been fired, key 16 is operated to tilt the barrels and eject the empty cartridges. At this time the tilting of the ring-bushings assembly is operated to bring the cartridges in the axis of the barrels and allow their introduction into the latter. This changeover is made as follows in two continuous phases. In a first phase the ring 5 is tilted so as to occupy the position of fig.3.
When this first displacement is carried out, the second phase takes place, that is to say that the sleeve 6 which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
mounted, as has been pointed out previously, with gentle friction in the ring 5 in turn performs a pivoting (arrow I in FIG. 3) in the ring currently playing the role of pivot axis. When this second phase is completed (the second bush being integral with the first by the tabs 8 has been driven in the same movement) the bushes occupy the position shown schematically in fig. 3 and are thus oriented in the axis of the barrels ( fig.l). The fresh cartridges can then be introduced into the barrels by pressing on the openings 15 of the pawls 12.
The latter rise and release the cartridges which are projected into the barrels by the relaxation of the springs 10.
Once the rifle is reloaded, the barrels are tilted and the ring-bushings assembly is folded back into its inoperative position and possibly reloaded with new cartridges,
It should be noted that the release of the cartridges contained in the casings can be operated automatically as follows:
When the bushes perform their relative pivoting with respect to the ring 5, a stopper 17 mounted on the aforesaid ring, comes at the end of the aforementioned pivoting, is placed under the pawls 12 which are raised and release the cartridges,
It is also possible to automatically tilt the ring-bush assembly from the inoperative position to the useful position in the axis of the barrels by providing the said assembly, for example at the articulation points, with springs. which would constantly tend to achieve this tilting the action of these springs being annihilated during normal operation of the rifle,
for example by a ratchet

@ mounted on a fixed part of the weapon and which would be operated by hand or automatically when the barrels are tilted
It is evident that the embodiment shown is given by way of example and that the invention is applicable in particular to shotguns with superimposed barrels and in general to any embodiment falling within the spirit or scope of the claims.
