 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 contre celui-ci.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  . Boxes for pastry, food and similar uses -the present patented invention in France on May 15, 1933 is brought to a cardboard box or similar material, for pastry, food or similar uses, remarkable in that it includes the following particularities in combination:, A cutout making it possible to obtain a closed box made up of a bottom with its four sides fixed together at the corners by gluing, stitching or otherwise; these c8tés having extensions that can be folded down on the bottom and act as a cover.

   A folding allowing the box thus formed to be delivered flat. This folding can be obtained by different systems applicable according to the dimensions of the box.

   Optionally a means of fixing between them the flaps acting as a cover in order to ensure the closure of the box.

    @ Figure I shows a perspective view of the box with its sides C provided with extensions P.

   FIG. 2 is a plan of the cutting; part F constituting the bottom with its sides C and the extensions of the sides in P.

   Figure 3 - 'is' a plan of creasing and cutting.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   necessary for folding the box. This already used folding system is modified for its new application to the shape of the box. A cut is made in 1 -8 in the sidewall
 EMI2.1
 Cl and 0 3 in order to stop in 2 the creasing performed in 3 - 2; this', '-' "creasing cannot be extended on the parts Pl and 1'3 serving to close the box and which are handled by the steps 01 and 03. It is obvious that this cut could be made just at the location of the R creasing separating the sides from their extensions, but for reasons of strength and aesthetics, it is: preferable that this be made a little below.

   This arrangement allows
 EMI2.2
 to maintain the float on the sides G1 and a3 resulting from the cut am by means of the extensions 22 and p4 which are folded down first. This order can be: made necessary by the closing system of the box.

   The production ends as follows:
 EMI2.3
 The triangle 1 - & -b is folded snimnb the raZna6e a- 3 which serves as a pivot on the outer face of sides Cl 'and C3
 EMI2.4
 according to Figure 4; these sides being themselves folded against the bottom F. On the other hand, the parts A holding at the ends of the sides
 EMI2.5
 Or and 04 are folded on the internal face of these sides along the branch line 3- 4; sides c2 and 03. being then folded in turn on the bottom of the box so that the triangular parts 1--2 3 of the sides C1 and C3 on which the glue is placed apply against the parts A of the sides c2 and c4.

   The box is thus finished. As soon as the box is opened; the parts A (figure 5) unfold at the same time as the triangular parts 1 - 2 - 3 and come to rub against the bottom F by their interior edges, thus keeping the box open. To increase this friction, the creasing 3 -2 can be modified along the line 3 - 2a according to figure 6. Figure 7 is a plane of another kind of rainàge. This
 EMI2.6
 folding is required from cpe the meatus development of c31; 6 $ C. and their extensions P is greater than the width of the bottom and therefore cannot be folded in the same way as before

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 against this one. It consists of a folding in the shape of a bishop's hat.

   FIG. 8 represents the finished box, thus folded.

   Obviously, any star folding system can also be used.

   FIG. 9 is a perspective view of an open box provided with a system for fixing the extensions to one another in order to ensure their closure. It consists of a slot made in F at the upper part of the extensions p1 and p2 in which the tips of the extensions p3 and p4 are threaded. Another slit can be made at F 2 in order to angment or reduce the convexity of the closure depending on the volume of the contents of the box -
La: Figure 10 shows another fermetare system.

  A cord or pn link doing the same office is attached to the tip of the extensions p1. To close the box, it suffices to pass this link in the notches made in E at the tip of the other extensions ;. This link has the shape of a handle and can also be used to carry the box. FIG. 11 represents a box whose extensions P1 and P3 are cut out at their end in the form of N handles provided with an R-shaped groove making it possible to straighten them against each other as soon as the extensions P1 and P3 have been folded down on the bottom.

  It only remains to fold back the extensions P2 and p4 in turn, passing the handles thus arranged in the slots made at F. Line 1a is a perspective view of the box thus closed.

   Figure 13 shows a box provided with a cord D or tie in any material doing the same office (such as a metal strip) fixed at E to the extensions P1 and P3 so as to be able to tie the ends together as soon as all the extensions have @ been folded down on the bottom of the box and to make it if necessary a handle allows so much to carry the box. The cord can only be tied on one side. It can also be fixed under the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 boxes or on the sides.

     The bottom means of closing the box can obviously not be limited to the systems described: and shown simply as examples.

   The object of the invention consists of a folding box composed of a bottom whose four sides fixed together at the corners by gluing or otherwise are provided with extensions making it possible to close the box *. This can therefore replace a box with a cover while c encircling the advantage of lower manufacturing cost.

   This box can in between have various systems making it possible to fix between them the extensions closing the box.
