<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

There Gear shift mechanism ".
The present invention relates to a speed change mechanism comprising between coaxial main gears set respectively on the motor shaft and on the receiving shaft, planet gears mounted so that their bearing on the coaxial gears can be reduced. iné.
A known mechanism of this kind is for example celai in which the planet gears are! mounted on the pivots carried by a plateaa whose braking is controlled by the condactear.
The object of the invention is a mechanism having as a bat to automatically carry out the direct taking from a given speed, by the appropriate pairing of the driver sar the accelerator.
To this end, according to the invention, the said satellite gears mesh in a row with a ring gear of a larger diameter than the larger diameter of the two main gears, said ring gear being liable to be braked according to the speed of the re-esptear shaft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In particular, according to the invention, provision is made for the braking of the ring gear to be carried out so as to be zero when the speed of rotation of the receiving shaft is zero, to increase aa far and as the speed increases. the speed of the receiving shaft and to remain constant as soon as the receiving shaft turns at the same speed as the motor shaft.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the braking of the toothed column is carried out hydraulically by the throttling of the delivery pipe of a pampa driven by the said ring, the throttling device. being arranged so as to allow the crown to rotate freely when the motor shaft is idling but being connected to the receiving shaft so as to be partially disabled as soon as the speed of rotation of the receiving shaft is reached that of the motear tree.
In particular, the sasdit throttling device advantageously comprises two valves, the ane of which is adjusted once in all so as to provide on its own the necessary throttling jasqa 'when the speed of the receiving shaft reaches the speed of the motear shaft, the other of which is placed in bypass on the first, is requested to remain closed but is opened under the action of an regalatear driven by the receiving shaft as soon as the speed thereof reaches the speed of the motor shaft.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawing appended to this specification and which schematically represents, and by way of example only, one embodiment of the invention.
This drawing is a longitudinal section through the gear change mechanism according to the invention.
There is shown a motear shaft 2 s ar which is wedged a gear 5 whose toothing 3a is internal. Planetary gears such as 4. mesh with gear 4 as well
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
with a gear 5 set on the receiver shaft 6 coaxial with the motear shaft 2. The gears 5 and 5 are called main gears.
The pinions 4 also mesh with a ring gear 7a carried by a plate 7 and a diameter larger than that of the gear 3. The plate 7 is wedged by a sleeve 8 mounted on the receiving shaft 6 and puts in rotation, for example by means of coniqaes gears 9, a coaded shaft 10 whose crankshafts 10a and 10b offset by 1800 actuate pistons 11 and 12 respectively mounted in cylinders 13 and 14.
The cylinders 15 and 14 are in communication between eax by an elbow 15 provided with a throttling device constituted for example by a valve 16. In bypass sar the elbow 15, is mounted an elbow 17 provided with a throttling device consisting for example of a valve 18. This is connected by a rod 19 aa sleeve 20a of a ball regulator 20 rotated by the receiver shaft 6, for example by the intermediary of conical gears 21 The springs 20b of the regulator urge the valve 18 to remain closed.
When the motor shaft 2 toarne, if the plateau. 7 peat rotate freely, it is driven in the same direction qae the motear shaft 2 by its bearing of the pinions 4 on the gear 5 and this at an equal speed greater than that of the motear shaft 2.
Suppose that the valve 18 is closed and that the valve 16 is sufficiently open to allow the passage of liquid pumped by the pistons 11 and 12 when the motear shaft 2 toarne has slowed down. The pinions 4 run on the gear 5 qai remains stationary due to the resistance to rotation offered by the shaft 6.
If the speed of rotation of the motear shaft 2 increases, the speed of rotation of the ring gear 7a tends to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
increase in the same proportion, but this increase in speed is only slightly permitted due to the forceful braking coming from the throttle created by the valve 16.
Under these conditions, the planet gears 4 start rolling on the ring gear 7a and drive the gear 5 with eax. The speed of rotation of the gear 5 increases at the same time as that of the gear 3. In spite of this, the speed of rotation of the toothed ring gear 7a remains practically the same, the braking of this ring gear increasing aa as and when qae the motor shaft rolls faster because of the constancy of the throttle.
When the speed of rotation of the gear 5 reaches that of the toothed ring 7a permitted by the braking, the planet wheels are no longer on themselves and the gear 5 is driven at the same speed as the gear 3. There is has therefore at this time taken direct.
If the speed of the motear shaft, therefore of the gear 3, continues to increase, the rotational speed of the gear 5 also continues to increase and this in a greater proportion, To avoid the overdrive which would result therefrom and consequently keep the direct drive, it is planned at this time to prevent the increase in braking. . For this purpose, the restriction offered to the passage of the liquid pumped by the pistons 11 and 12 is reduced. This reduction in the restriction is effected in the embodiment shown by the opening of the valve 18. This opening is effected automatically under the control of the receiving shaft thanks to the link existing between the regulator 20 and the slide 18 '.
The degree of opening caused by the tap 18 is such that the braking resulting from the opening of the two taps 16 and 18 remains constant. The toothed ring 7a therefore continues to rotate at the same speed as the motear shaft and that qaelle qae is the speed of rotation of the latter greater than that
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
for which the tap 18 begins to open.
It is easy, taking into account the constructive provisions adopted, to determine the constant braking to be achieved so that the direct drive takes place automatically above a forward speed chosen a priori.
When the direct drive is carried out, if the receiver shaft suddenly becomes more resistant, for example because you encounter a hill :, and if the engine speed is not changed, the receiver shaft may slow down slightly and make it turn. the satellites themselves have made qae the pistons 11 and 12 can deliver a little more than what they were delivering in direct drive. If at this moment the speed of the engine is accelerated, the direct drive is reestablished preventing the satellites from tarnishing themselves.
It is obvious that the aforesaid reduction of the constriction could also be achieved by acting on the valve 16 instead of acting without the valve 18. In this case, the line 17 could be omitted and the valve 16 should be constructed in such a way. not to modify the throttle of the pipe 15, before the direct coupling is carried out,
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constancy of the elements involved in its realization without departing from the scope. scope of this patent. Thus, for example, the receiver shaft can control a rotary pump aa the iea of a piston pump.
