Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "Fitting, for pipes"
A large number of removable connector systems already exist, which serve to connect the tubes generally made of malleable metal to one another and which comprise more or less complicated devices intended to ensure the tightness of this junction. the presence of these seals often has the consequence of considerably increasing the cost price of such fittings.

   In addition, several achievements in this field can not ensure a lasting result, as regards the tightness of this connection.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The present invention relates to a connector for tubes and more particularly for tubes made of malleable metal, such as copper, lead, etc. and which is characterized by the fact that it consists of a threaded sleeve, the connecting end of which to the tubes ends in a frustoconical projection 'coaxial, which fits exactly in a terminal conical flare of the tube to be connected, these two parts being assembled by the pressure of a connecting nut screwing onto the sleeve mentioned: This connection makes it possible to exclude any use of leather or any stuffing.

   In the case where the connector must form a junction between two tubes of the same diameter or of different diameter, the two ends of the tube are conformed, as described above.

   In order to better illustrate the particular object of the invention, an exemplary embodiment is presented below in FIGS. 1 and 2 in the accompanying drawing. the connector according to the invention essentially comprises a brass sleeve 1, which can be machined from a hexagonal profile, for example. The two end parts of this central sleeve 1 are externally threaded and carry two nuts 2 and 3, which operate the tightening of the junction.

   The end parts of the sleeve 1 end in frustoconical projections 4,5, placed coaxially with the sleeve itself. the angle of conicity of this projection is such that the jamming of the tube around this frustoconical part is avoided and on the other hand it is also necessary to ensure that the obliquity of this projection is sufficient to cause a sliding force on this surface of revolution. These frustoconical projections 4,5 respectively engage with the end parts of the tubes to be connected 6 and 7. These end parts are flared at an angle which is substantially the same as that of the taper of the connector.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   As a result, a large application surface of the tubes is obtained on the ends of the connecting sleeve, and in addition the tightening of the nuts 2,3 operates an oblique pressure which ensures a very sufficient seal between the sleeve of a part, and the flared parts of the tubes on the other.

   Given that the metal of the tubes 6, 7 is malleable, it gives way easily under the effect of clamping pressure, and adapts exactly to the profile of the extreme projections, the mouth of the two tubes to be assembled is obtained by means of a mandrel (figure 2) at an angle exactly the same as that of the ends of the fitting (figure 2).

   It is obvious that an arrangement as described can also be applied to the fitting which forms part of any apparatus or container to which a tube is to be detachably connected.

   By the fact that no plastic material is used in the construction of this fitting, the seal is maintained indefinitely, since the fluids circulating in the piping cannot change the characteristics of the materials used.

   CLAIMS.

The end of which connects to the tubes ends in a coaxial truncated projection, which fits exactly into a terminal conical flaring of the tube to be connected, these two parts being assembled by the pressure of a connecting nut screwing onto the said sleeve.
