<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Improvement in concrete mixers
The present invention relates to improvements to concrete mixers, and more particularly relates to modifications made to the operating means of the mixing drum.
Indeed, it is known that generally this drum, after having carried out for the required time the mixing operation, is tumbled by the operation in the appropriate direction of a flywheel duly established for this purpose.
This current arrangement has the drawback of requiring on the part of the attendant, the use of two hands and therefore, of completely occupying the latter. In addition, this maneuvering work requires some attention to avoid an exaggerated displacement of said tank and consequently, a false maneuver.
In order to overcome these drawbacks, the invention provides for having, in combination with said steering wheel
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
maneuver, a foot clutch device. This device consists substantially of a balance pivoting around an intermediate point, and biased on the one hand, by a counterweight, and on the other hand integral with a substantially vertical rod below terminated by a pedal.
This balance also has a branch directed towards the axis of the flywheel, and capable of being engaged in the notches of a disc rigidly wedged on this axis. Therefore, it suffices to press the pedal to make the balance oscillate around its pivot point, and to release the pin from its notch, release the handwheel, which can therefore operate freely up to 'subsequent introduction of the spindle in a recess, and this after abandoning the pedal.'
In order to better highlight the object of the invention, such an embodiment is shown diagrammatically in the accompanying figure, which represents an elevational view of this arrangement.
In this figure: the flywheel 1, formed substantially by a rim and four braces, also comprises, rigidly fixed on its axis 2, a disc 3. The latter has for example four notches 4 of appropriate shape and dimensions. the flywheel 1 disengaging and clutching device consists in principle of a balance 5 capable of oscillating around a fixed pivot 6. the balance has at one end an adjustable or fixed counterweight7, consisting of a heavy mass, or else by an elastic member, such as for example a coil spring, leaf or other, duly directed. The other branch of the balance 5 carries an ankle 8 directed upwards, and capable of being engaged in notches 4.
The corresponding end of the balance
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is secured to a pedal 9 by a suitable rod 10.
It therefore results from this simple arrangement that it suffices, to release the flywheel 1, to press the pedal 9, so as to cause traction on the balance 5 via the connecting rod 10. the balance 5 oscillates. around its pivot 6, which causes the withdrawal of the pin 8 from the corresponding housing 4. As a result, the flywheel 1 is released and the mixing tank of the concrete mixer can thus freely tumble. To engage said tank, it will suffice to release the pedal 9, which has the consequence of returning the balance 5 to its initial position, under the stress of the counterweight 7 or of the elastic return element, of equivalent function.
By this fact equalù.enty the ankle 8 is urged upwards and engages in the corresponding recess .4 presented by the rotation of the flywheel 1.
Obviously, such a device can be in very diverse forms depending on the modifications made to the shape, the relative arrangement, the dimensions, etc. of the constituent elements, depending on whether it is used, as return elements of a counterweight, a leaf spring, a coil spring, pneumatic means, etc. In any case, such a device systematically alleviates the disadvantage mentioned above, and allows the worker to operate with ease , while keeping complete freedom of the hands.
