  "Dispositif de freinage pour roues d'automobiles". 



   La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif de freinage pour roues d'automobiles, dans lequel le freinage est produit par une lame métallique élastique enroulée à l'intérieur du tambour de frein, sur la paroi duquel elle peut agir par expansion, la   dispo-   sition des éléments étant telle que la rotation du tambour accen- tue le freinage . 



   Le dispositif est constitué comme   suit :   
Dans le tambour de frein, solidaire de la roue (sauf le cou- vercle ) une lame métallique élastique enroulée en une circonfé- rence incomplète d'un rayon légèrement plus petit que celui du tambour; une de ses extrémités est fixée au couvercle du tambour, l'autre est libre ; un mécanisme également porté par le couvercle du tambour peut sur commande en écarta l'extrémité libre de 1' autre, provoquer l'expansion de la lame, mettre celle-ci en con- tact avec la paroi du tambour et produire le freinage; par suite de la disposition des éléments le tambour a une tendance à entra?- ner la lame dans son mouvement de rotation, ce qui accentue l'ex- pansion et par conséquent le freinage ;

   lorsque la commande prend fin, la lame revient d'elle-même à sa position primitive, elle

 peut y être aidée par un ressort porté par le couvercle du tambour. 



   Le dispositif est représenté par les dessins annexés, com- portant deux figures, reproduisant :   fig.l   une vue latérale intérieure du tambour de   ftein,   le couvercle formant fond ;   fig.Z   une coupe transversale dans le tambour-frein. 



   On y trouve : le tambour de frein 1, son couvercle 2, la lame-frein 3 dont une extrémité est fixée au patin à douille 4, porté par le couvercle 3 de même que le manchon 5, dans lequel tourne l'axe de frein avec levier 6 sur lequel est calée la clef 7 ; la tringle 8 articulée d'une part à cette clef, d'autre part au patin à douille 9 fixé à l'extrémité libre de la lame-frein, le ressort 10 accroché d'une part au couvercle du tambour d'au- tre part à la tringle 8, la flèche 11 indiquant le sens de la rotation du tambour. 



   A remarquer que le patin à douille 4 peut être disposé de façon que sa douille serve de manchon à l'axe de frein. 



   On se rend aisément compte du fonctionnement du dispositif. 



  Grâce à une transmission appropriée le chauffeur imprime, dans un sens convenable, un mouvement de rotation à l'axe 6 et à la clef 7 calée sur l'axe. Celle-ci, par l'intermédiaire de la trin -gle 8 et du patin à douille 9, refoule l'extrémité libre du ressort-frein entre la paroi du tambour qui tend à entraîner cet- te extrémité avec elle,   d'où   expansion du ressort, serrage con- tre le tambour et freinage . 



   Dès que la commande cesse d'agir, l'élasticité du frein et l'action du ressort 10 ramènent les divers éléments dans leur position primitive, mettant ainsi fin au   freinage .

   The present invention relates to a braking device for automobile wheels, in which the braking is produced by a resilient metal blade wound inside the brake drum, on the wall of which it can act by expansion, the arrangement. The position of the elements is such that the rotation of the drum increases the braking.



   The device is made up as follows:
In the brake drum, integral with the wheel (except the cover) an elastic metal blade wound in an incomplete circumference with a radius slightly smaller than that of the drum; one of its ends is fixed to the drum cover, the other is free; a mechanism also carried by the cover of the drum can on command move the free end of it away from the other, cause the blade to expand, bring the latter into contact with the wall of the drum and produce the braking; as a result of the arrangement of the elements the drum has a tendency to drive the blade in its rotational movement, which accentuates the expansion and consequently the braking;

   when the command ends, the blade returns by itself to its original position, it

 can be helped by a spring carried by the drum cover.



   The device is represented by the accompanying drawings, comprising two figures, reproducing: fig.l an interior side view of the end drum, the cover forming the bottom; fig.Z a cross section through the brake drum.



   We find there: the brake drum 1, its cover 2, the brake blade 3, one end of which is fixed to the sleeve pad 4, carried by the cover 3 as well as the sleeve 5, in which the brake axis rotates with lever 6 on which the key 7 is wedged; the rod 8 articulated on the one hand to this key, on the other hand to the sleeve pad 9 fixed to the free end of the brake blade, the spring 10 attached on the one hand to the drum cover on the other starts at the rod 8, the arrow 11 indicating the direction of rotation of the drum.



   Note that the sleeve pad 4 can be arranged so that its sleeve serves as a sleeve for the brake axle.



   It is easy to see how the device works.



  Thanks to a suitable transmission, the driver prints, in a suitable direction, a rotational movement on the axis 6 and on the key 7 wedged on the axis. This, by means of the trin -gle 8 and the sleeve shoe 9, pushes the free end of the brake spring between the wall of the drum which tends to entrain this end with it, hence expansion spring, clamping against the drum and braking.



   As soon as the control ceases to act, the elasticity of the brake and the action of the spring 10 return the various elements to their original position, thus terminating the braking.
