MINUTERIE ELECTRIQUE
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
exemple.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

ELECTRIC TIMER
The present invention refers to so-called “timer” devices, interrupting, after an adjustable time, a circuit established through them.
The timer which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the establishment of the utilization circuit is caused by the triggering of a member which is then reset by a motor put into action when the utilization circuit is established.
The appended drawing shows schematically, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the first form.
Fig. 2 is a section of the previous one following II-II.
Fig. 3 gives an example of assembly.
Figure 4 is a front view of the second form.
Fig. 5 is a section through fig 4 along V-V.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3, the timer comprises an electromagnetic pendulum 1, actuated by an electromagnet 2, mounted on a branch of a circuit of lamps by
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
example. This pendulum carries a mercury breaker 3, which cuts the excitation current of 2 at each oscillation, so as to maintain the pendular movement. The pendulum 1 engages by a pawl 4 'a ratchet 4, integral with a pinion 5, which meshes with a toothed wheel 6. On the axis of this wheel is mounted a small sleeve 7 in magnetic metal, connected to said wheel by a claw coupling 8, held in engagement by the thrust of a spring 9.
The sleeve 7 serves as a plunger core for the coil 10, mounted in the circuit of the tappet (s) 18. A flexible link 11 is attached to this sleeve, supporting a weight 12. The latter is guided in a cylinder 13, in which one can vary, using a screw 14 ', the height of a movable false bottom 14. The flexible link passes through a rocking arm 15 which carries the switch 16, controlling the circuit of the lamps 17.
At rest, the weight 12 is at the top of its travel and the sleeve 7 is coupled to the wheel 6. If a push-button is pressed, the electromagnet 10, being excited, attracts the sleeve 7 and releases it. of the wheel 6. The weight 12 falls on the false bottom 14, the switch 16 closes the circuit of the lamps and at the same time the bypass which supplies the coil 2 of maintenance of the pendulum. The latter therefore begins to oscillate and, by means of its pawl and the ratchet, causes the weight to rise gradually. At the end of its ascent, the latter switches the breaker to the interrupted position of the lamp circuit and the pendulum stops, the bypass which supplies its maintenance coil also being cut.
It will immediately be understood that the lower the level of the false bottom 14, the more the weight drops and the more time it takes for the pendulum motor to bring it back to the top of its travel. By adjusting the position of this false bottom, it is therefore possible to vary the duration of the closing of the lamp circuit as required.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 3 to 5, the axis of oscillation of pendulum 1 is located below the axis of ratchet 4. To drum 7 is attached the central end of a spiral spring 19, the other end of which is attached to a fixed arm 20. This same drum
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
carries a finger 21, capable of tilting the frame of the breaker 16. The movement of this finger is stopped in one direction by a fixed stop 22 and in the other by a stop 23 ', carried by a rotating ring 23, and which can be given direction. variable around the axis of the wheel 6. For this purpose, the periphery of the ring 23 carries a toothing with which engages a pinion 24, the axis 24 'of which carries an operating button 24 ".
At rest, the finger 21 is pressed against the stop 22 and maintains the breaker 16 in the position which corresponds to the interruption of the use circuit. The spring 19 is then loaded.
If we act on a pusher 18, the coil 10 is energized, attracts the sleeve 7, releases it from the wheel 6, so that it can obey the action of the spring 19. The latter, by itself. relaxing, brings the finger 21 against the adjustable stop 23 '. At the same time, the breaker 16 puts the current on the user circuit and on the maintenance circuit of the pendulum. The latter therefore begins to oscillate and slowly turns wheel 6 in the direction of the arrow. The finger 21, driven in this movement, returns to lift the breaker 16 and interrupts the circuit after a closing time which depends on the position given to the stop 23 '. In addition, the spring 19 is again tensioned, and the device ready for a new release.
Of course, the invention is not limited to what is described and shown, but can give rise to variants. Thus, the mercury breakers could be replaced by any other contact members. On the other hand, the reset of the timer could be carried out by a motor of any suitable type.
The applications of the invention are obviously not restricted to the control of a lighting circuit, but can extend to the control of other circuits, possibly with the interposition of relays, and for all the desired combinations of 'interruptions or switchings.
