<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a delayed break contactor comprising an exciter coil placed on a core, a movable armature which can be attracted by this core, one or more contacts actuated by the movable armature.
The usual contactors, for alternating current, have laminated magnetic circuits and phase shift turns intended to suppress the hum of the closed contactor.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The subject of the invention is a contactor. timed break of very simple and robust design, which can be used without distinction in a direct current or alternating current network and which does not require a laminated magnetic circuit. no short-circuit coil.
The delayed-action contactor according to the invention is characterized by an elastic element capable of retaining the movable armature after attraction by the core, and a percussion element actuated by a cam, releasing the movable armature from the element. elastic after a determined time, the cam being moved by a motor supplied during the attraction of the movable frame by the core. Other characteristics will become apparent from the description below which refers to the accompanying drawing.
In this drawing, FIG. 1 represents, by way of nonlimiting example, a contactor according to the invention, partially in section; FIG. 2 represents a side view of this contactor; FIG. 3 is an electrical diagram of an apparatus using such a contactor.
A common insulating support 1, partially shown in Figures 1 and 2, is used for fixing the various elements of the contactor. This contactor is made up of a fixed yoke 2, a core 3 surrounded by an exciting coil 4, a movable armature 5 capable of pivoting at 6 around the yoke 2 and normally held in the open position by a return spring 7. The movable armature 5 carries, in any suitable way, an insulating support 8 for a double working contact 9, 9 'and a rod 10 serving to mechanically retain the movable armature in the closed position after it was attracted to the core 3, the coil 4 being supplied by an electric current of short duration.
The rod 10 passes through an elongated hole 11 made in a leaf spring 12, constituting a percussion element.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
When the movable armature 5 '. is attracted by the core 3 it puts itself in the position shown in Figures 1 and 2, against the force of. reminder. exerted.'par the spring 7..Dans this displacement.la rod 10 strikes against the lip 13 of a leaf spring 14 called'très generally: elastic element. The elastic element 14 is raised: or deviates a little and the rod 10 engages in a hole or notch 15 of this elastic element 14 where it is retained in the position shown in fig.l. The double contact 9, 9 'closes and remains held in this position by the rod 10 and the elastic element 14.
This double contact 9, 9 'then closes the circuit of a timer motor 16, of any type, actuating a cam 17. The motor 16 and the * cam 17 are an integral part of the contactor and are mounted on a common support, for example. on the support 1. Furthermore, one of the ends of the elements 12 and 14, which are placed opposite one another, is fixed to the cylinder head 2.
When the cam 17 turns, it moves the free end of the percussion element 12 away from the resilient element 14 until the sharp edge 18 suddenly releases the end of the element 12. This strikes, with percussion heads 19, the elastic element 14 on either side of the hole 15, this element lifts under the impact and releases the rod 10 that is to say the movable armature 5, which returns to the rest position under the action of the spring 7 e thus opens the double contact 9, 9 'until 3a coil 4 is again traversed by a corrant.
The use of the contactor according to the invention, in an electrical appliance, is shown in fig.3.
In this diagram, the network represented by the conductors 20 and 21, is connected on one side to the various ...., elements of an electrical device consisting for example of a heating resistor 22, a limiting resistor
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
current 23, a motor 24 and a lamp 25, as well as to one of the terminals of the timer motor 16 which forms an integral part of the contactor according to the invention. On the other hand, the network is connected to contact 9 of the double contact 9, 9 'normally open and to a "temporary" switch 26, for example a push button. When the switch 26 is closed for an instant, the current passes through the coil 4, causes the attraction of the armature 5 and closes the contacts 9, 9 '.
At this time, the electrical device is switched on but coil 4 is short circuited. The timer motor 16 starts up and turns the cam, represented in the diagram symbolically by a dotted line 17 '. When the sharp edge of the cam releases the percussion element and therefore the movable armature 5 of the contactor, the contacts 9 and 9 'separate and trigger the device.
A particular advantage of the contactor according to the invention consists in that the coil of the contactor consumes current only during the short instant of its engagement. This allows the use of a very robust coil which can be used without modification for a very wide range of operating voltages.
It is naturally permissible to carry out variants of the embodiment described above, without departing from the scope of the invention, in particular the elastic element and the percussion element can have different shapes and be combined in different ways. all appropriate ways.
