<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The object of the present invention is a relay with sudden switching on and off, having a high breaking capacity at a low volume, the electric diagram of which makes it possible to energize the electromagnetic coils of the relay only during the strictly time. necessary for switching on or off any electrical circuit. Thanks to this device we are sure not to have
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
no heating in the relay coils since they are never permanently energized.
It should also be noted that the contactor system of the relay forming the subject of :, the present invention makes it possible to control indiscriminately a single, two or three-phase circuit.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example an embodiment of the invention and the diagram relates to the control of a three-phase circuit.
Figure 1 shows the relay, the circuit to be controlled being "open" o
FIG. 2 represents the relay, the circuit to be controlled being "closed" maisle hook (2) not yet having returned to its rest position.
FIG. 3 represents the relay, the circuit to be controlled being "closed", with the hook (2) returned to its rest position.
In the relay, object of 1 ,. present invention, (see fig.1), a hook (2) mounted on a base (T) and pivoting around a point (3), retains the end of a lever (4) pivoting around it 'a point (5). The hook (2) has at one of its ends unearmature (6) capable of being attracted by a coil (7).
On the other end of the hook (2) is mounted a conductive pad (8) electrically insulated from the latter. Opposite this movable pl t (8), a fixed pad (9) is mounted on the base (1).
The lever (4) comprises an armature (la) capable of being attracted by a coil (TT) and on one of the arms of this lever (4) is mounted a conductive pad (12) electrically insulated from the latter. . Opposite this movable pad (12), a fixed pad (13) is mounted on the base (1).
The other arm of the lever (4) carried a yoke (14) provided with a plate (15) of insulating material, on which its are arranged at 120, three oscillating knives (16) constituting
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the team of movable contacts. Opposite these knives (16), 'three pairs of fixed studs (17) are mounted on an insulating plate (18) itself fixed on the base (1).
Finally, each end of a spring (19) is hooked to one of the arms of the hook (2) and of the lever (4).
In order to illustrate the operation of this relay, it will be assumed, on the one hand, that the power supply circuit of the relay is actuated by a unipolar reverser constituted by a movable pad (23) and by two fixed pads (24) and (25 ); (This unipolar reverser can be achieved by a thermostat automatically controlling the temperature of any liquid or any enclosure - or by any other device of different application) on the other hand, that the circuit to be ordered is formed by a group of three-phase resistors (20) (21) and (22) 0
If we refer to fig. 1 which shows the relay in an operating phase where the circuit to be controlled is open, we see that the resistors (20) (21) and (22) are off, the end of the lever (4)
being engaged in the hook (2) and being held there by the spring (19).
When the movable pad (23) of the inverter is brought into contact with the fixed pad (25), it can be seen, by following the diagram, that the coil (... 7) will be energized, being supplied by the two phase wires. (26) and (27). The coil (7) will then attract the armature (6) of the lever (2) and the lever (4) will be released from its hooking o By means of the spring (19) the mobile tacts (16) will therefore suddenly short-circuit the fixed pads (17) and consequently put the resistors (20) (21) and (22) into service.
This phase of operation is represented by FIG. 2 which is an intermediate position of the relay.
It will be noted, in fact, that in this position the stud (12) of the lever (4) has left the fixed stud (13). From this moment the coil (7) is no longer under voltage and
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
EMI4.1
the various members take the position shown in FIG. 3 which shows the lever (2) returned to its rest position, the stud (8) of the lever (2) then coming into contact with the fixed stud (9).
Starting from the position shown in figure 3,
EMI4.2
that is to say with the three rosi stances in service, if we put the movable pad (23) of the reverser in contact with the fixed pad (24), it will be the turn of the coil (11) to be excited because it will be supplied by the plisse threads (26) and (27) 0
EMI4.3
The coil (TT) will then suddenly attract 1: lavic; r () and the latter will embouch itself again in the hook (2) oIaes r3 resistances (20) (21) and (22) will then be switched off and we thus return to the operating phase represented by

figure (Ç) .On r8JJlÛrc: ue also that d: .l1.S in this position the stud (8) of the lever (2) has left the fixed stud (9) and that the coil (11) is no longer under voltage.
From this moment the device is ready to renew the

cycle of its operations, release and re-engagement according to the above-described functioning of its organs.
