Le type envisagé est un avant-train tracteur à une seule roue motrice et directrice, pouvant s'adapter sans modi- fication sur toute machine ou véhicule de ferme, et réalisant les avantages suivants : a) d'être simple, (donc d'un prix d'achat modique b) de consommation horaire réduite, donc d'utilisation écono- mique tout en restant l'équivalent de quatre animaux de trait environ. c) de ne dépenser qu'au moment du travail d) de supprimer tous risques de maladie ou mortalité e) de constituer par lui-même un capital conservant très long- temps une valeur d'estimation appréciable. fl) de permettre à l'usager do conserver son outillage existant sans aucun changement;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

The use of the agricultural tractor has so far encountered serious difficulties due for the most part to its design which hardly allows it to be adapted to the various tasks of a farm.
Specially studied for cultivation work where adhesion plays a capital role and leads to a special realization, it is, in general, of a high purchase price due to its weight, therefore its power, and therefore costly hourly consumption. Under these conditions, its use in various farm work becomes so expensive that its use is limited almost exclusively to cultivation work; therefore, only large farms can claim it, while small and medium-sized crops are deprived of it.
However, besides heavy soil preparation work, there are many other things, such as: a) towing harvesting machines; mowers, harvest

EMI2.1
slurry feeders, tuber diggers, pulverisa towers, etc., b) the transport of fertilizers, manure, wood, in a word, the most varied of carts. c) interior work such as threshing, crushing and grinding, sawing, etc .. amply justifies the use of a tractor .. specially designed, which can adapt quickly and very easily to any machine or machine. farm vehicle, and suitable for both traction and fixed engine use.
In other words, this machine should be able to constitute an auxiliary mechanical coupling, the main purpose of which would be to provide the farm with a new driving force, considerably reducing the draft animals while being more manageable. The production of such a device constitutes the object of the present invention.
The type envisaged is a tractor front end with only one driving and steering wheel, which can be adapted without modification to any machine or farm vehicle, and realizing the following advantages: a) to be simple, (therefore of a low purchase price b) reduced hourly consumption, therefore economical use while remaining the equivalent of around four draft animals. c) not to spend until the time of work d) to eliminate all risks of illness or mortality e) to build up capital by itself which retains an appreciable appraisal value for a very long time. fl) to allow the user to keep his existing tools without any change;
therefore without new expense. g) requiring only one driver and thereby reducing labor costs, which is advantageous, in particular, for a combine harvester.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
h) to be perfectly stable since generally a two-wheeled vehicle will thus be transformed rigidly into a three-wheeled vehicle. i) to increase in particular the speed of the harvest work which does not suffer any delay, both by its own speed and by the ability to be able to work at any time of the day.
j) to be compact and therefore to be able to approach hedges, fences, trees, etc. very closely. k) to allow right angle turns, which is necessary for harvesting machines, 1) to have only one wheel which, properly placed on a mower for example, will not tread on the already cut crop.
In the accompanying drawings and by way of example:
Fig.l shows a front view of an embodiment of the front end coupled to a mower.
Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of the speed reducer.
Fig. 3 is a front view showing the control of the clutch mechanism.
Fig.4 is a plan view of the same mechanism.
The tractor, object of the invention, has only one wheel 1 which is driving and steering. It receives its movement from a motor 2 located at the front and preferably air-cooled, via a speed reducer which can be produced as follows: a control pinion 3, wedged at the end motor shaft, gives its movement to a gear 4 integral with another pinion 5; in turn actuates a gear 6 which in its movement drives an intermediate shaft 7; means of two clutch dogs 8 and 9 of which the latter is secured to a screw
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
endless 10, the movement is transmitted to the latter which in turn actuates a helical wheel integral with the driving wheel 1.
The same arrangement exists on the other side of the wheel 1, but with a screw 10 not contrary to the first.
The clutch control is such that when one side is engaged, the other is automatically disengaged, and a neutral position between these extreme positions allows movement to stop, engine 2 continuing. to operate.
It is therefore easy to understand that when a screw 10 will give the forward gear, the combined one will give the reverse gear.
The motor 2 and the motion transmission mechanisms are carried by a frame of one or more parts which are assembled 11 / form a support yoke for this engine / The rear part of this same frame has an axis 12 which will serve as a pivot for a small extendable balanced wheel 13 whose role will be to prevent the device from overturning from front to back. The axo of this wheel is mounted on a pivoting lever subjected to the action of a spring to follow all the undulations of the ground while constantly forming support on the ground.
A belt 14, connecting the front and the rear of the frame, matching the shape of the driving wheel 1, carries a pivot 15 integral with a traction axis 16 around which the steering will be made to turn.
A gooseneck 17 carrying two journal heads 18 and 19 is connected to the tie rod 20 of suitable shape for the apparatus on which the tractor is reached. On the pivot axis is wedged a bevel steering wheel
21, set in motion by the steering pinion 22 integral with the steering wheel. The latter is put in place by a support boiler 23 made rigid by a tie rod 24.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The clutch is controlled by a rod 25 with a lever 27 'which drives, at the will of the operator and by means of the screwdriver 25', the control pinion 26, and which immediately after is returned to position by the spring 27.
As the clutch and the steering must have nothing in common, and in addition the clutch position must be preserved in bends, the wheel 28 which controls the clutch is secured to the steering wheel 21 by through the claw sleeve 29 actuated by the fork 30.
On the clutch rod 25, a finger 31 is wedged which releases, by acting on the fork 30, the control wheel 28, while the pinion 26 is engaged. It is easy to imagine that under these conditions, by pushing on the lever of the rod 25, the pinion 26 is engaged, the wheel 28 is disengaged by making it independent, and by turning the handle 27 'to the right or on the left in this position, the wheel 28 is also rotated to the right or to the left; moreover, this movement is independent of the direction, the wheel 28 being, at this moment, idle on the shaft.
This wheel 28 carries at two diametrically opposed points two control levers 32 which each act on two articulated forks 33; the latter push or pull on pins 34 integral with the two right and left clutch rods 35 which carry the main forks 36 controlling the right and left clutch dogs 8.
This arrangement makes it possible to control the clutch regardless of the position of the driving wheel 1.
The general arrangement of the apparatus thus constituted makes it possible to choose at will the position of the steering wheel (the position of the steering pinion in relation to the wheel which can be arbitrary) and, thereby, to eliminate the always expensive gimbals.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The steering being in the vertical axis of the driving wheel, the latter pivots on itself, which made it possible to eliminate any differential while simplifying the device accordingly.
