REVENDICATIONS

INVENTION PATENT "Improvements relating to machines for threshing, working and the like processing of cotton and similar fibrous materials." The present invention relates to machines for threshing, working and processing. analogies of cotton and of similar fibrous material, and is intended to provide simple and effective means of reducing the loss of fibrous material during processing or by a similar process by which economy is ensured in labor, while fibers are free from sand, leaves, stems, small grasses, etc. associated with them before processing.
In accordance with our invention, the mixed sand, leaves, stems, grasses and other impurities which are associated with a certain amount of cotton or similar fibrous material being processed are collected after passing through the asual grid adjacent to the portion. lower part of the rotary beater (which can be of the ordinary type or of the pore-epic0 type or of the cylinder oa

The said roaleaa or cylinder at high speed in conjunction with the said blade (s) (the latter being adjustable if desired) effect a very complete separation of the fibrease material from the imparities formed by the beater or cylinder of the threshing machine. oa to open.
Said separated fibrease material is then returned to the main machine at a suitable point where sufficient suction traction is available, and mixed with the main stream of fibrous material which can then be formed into a web if desired. Said suitable point may be the bottom drum of the machine or the bottom plate or the grid bars or between the cylinder beater and the upper and lower drums.
In the accompanying explanatory drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the application of the invention to a threshing machine.
Fig. 2 is similar to Fig. 1, but representing the application of our invention to pneumatic valves.

keep b and the pedal lever c and d the grid bars between which the leaves and stems mixed with the cotton fiber are rejected by the action of beating. The cotton passes da threshing cylinder aax screening drums !. and f so amid a suction in the known manner.
In accordance with the invention, there is provided an apron under the bar at the d of the grid to receive the faults, the rods and the fiber qai are supplied therethrough, and to bring them to the feed cylinders h qai bring them to a high speed soot toothed cylinder i qai is entoaré except for a part below and next to the food cylinders by a boltier j leading to a channel k which opens into the main delivery passage wenant da beater cylinder and puts the said channel k and the space around the sawtooth cylinder under the influence of the suction existing in the machine because of the suction action of the drums e and f.
At the entry of the boltier j sounds the sawtooth cylinder, there is provided a blade m which extends over the entire width of the seie tooth cylinder and is pivotally carried by the housing j in such a way that its edge can be adjusted so that it can be brought close to the periphery of the sawtooth cylinder. The action of the latter has the effect that the fibers are drawn above the blade and the result is an efficient separation of the fibers from the imparities they contain.
The cotton fibers oa of a similar material cleaned returning to the main part of the beater a and exit the machine at the discharge rollers n. The material separated from the fibers supplied to the sawtooth cylinder i is fed to ±. and is collected by appropriate means, not shown.
Figure 2 shows the invention applied to a

Porcupine type pneumatic opener.
The embodiment will be. easily understood by comparison of the parts with figure 1.
The cleaned fibers from the sawtooth cylinder i can be fed into the main fiber stream at any convenient point where the suction of the screen drums e and f acts. Such a point may in fact be on the surface of a drum or in the path leading to the drum.
By the improvement according to the invention, it is possible to adapt the threshing machine, opening machine or similar machine to amend the fibrous material which is ordinarily discharged with the separated impurities. In addition, the bars of the grid which is under the cylinder can be further apart, which provides advantages when processing fibers containing a large amount of sheets and stems without causing the loss of the fibrous material itself being. since the latter is amended as described above.
