"STATION ESCAMOTABLE"

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"RETRACTABLE STATION"
The invention consists of an arrangement and means allowing any station, public or other, and in particular refueling stations for motor vehicles, to be completely retracted into the ground with a view to making the location free. the public road occupied by them.
We know that if the usefulness of these stations is made necessary, because of the ever increasing automobile traffic in certain centers and arteries of large cities, and in particular on large boulevards or public places, it is, on the other hand , desirable both from the point of view of traffic and on the occasion of markets, festivities and events of all kinds, to be able to clear the said places at certain times or on certain days.
The object of the present invention is precisely to respond to these desires, by providing a completely retractable station or booth, which can moreover be combined with sanitary installations, underground garages, costs.

dances or any relief stations.
According to the invention, the station comprises a platform-sidewalk suitably guided in rails or the like integral with a masonry structure delimiting the. well intended to receive the latter, said tray being supported by one or more lifting devices of any kind, preferably hydraulic, arranged and mounted in the bottom of said well in any suitable manner.
By way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention in its application to a refueling station for motor vehicles is described below with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is an elevation view with partial cross section of a retractable station installation, having been brought to ground level.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1, showing the station retracted into the ground.
Fig. 3 is a plan view in cross section showing a detail of the basements of the installation.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the station comprising the usual gasoline distribution devices 5, 6, etc., and the central bush 7, is mounted on a plate 8 serving as a sidewalk or full-earth.
This plate is inferiorly reinforced with a series of elements 9 and 10, which can slide in vertical guides 11 and 12 fixed along a masonry covering 13 constituting a reinforcing wall for the pit 14 intended to receive the station during of its non-use.
One or more lifting devices of any kind, hydraulic or otherwise, support the platform 8 in its center or around its periphery, and allow the station to be raised or lowered as required.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
When the station is lowered into the pit 14, the assembly appears as indicated in FIG. 2. In this position, the lower part of the plate 8 comes out, on the one hand, against the stops 16 and 17 provided for the guides 11 and 12, and on the other hand, against the base 18 of the lifting device. 15, so as to leave between this plate and the bottom 14a of the pit 14, sufficient space for the placement of the tank or tanks and cisterns 19, 20, etc., intended to supply the various apparatuses of the station.
The invention provides that such a retractable station can advantageously be combined with an underground public sanitary installation.
In this case, the two access routes 21 and 22 include a double staircase 23-24 bypassing the elevator column 15 and ending in landings 23a, 24a, f1 at the entrance to the local fixed underground (s) / 24-25 of the so-called installation.
According to this arrangement, a certain space 26 will be provided between the double stairwell, which will advantageously serve as an office or any outbuilding.
In this case, the uprights supporting the double cage and constituting at the same time the frame of the desk can serve as a support for the station when the latter is lowered into the pit 14.
It goes without saying that the means for retracting the double stairwell 23-24 can be of any type and be combined in any suitable manner with those of the station.
This station could, moreover, be put in communication, or give access to underground garages distributed in a star around the pit 14.
According to this provision, the vehicle to be parked or repaired
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
will be brought into the central compartment 7, which will, in this case, be independent of the station, then lowered with the latter into the pit 14.
The assembly can then be moved angularly in one direction or the other, so as to bring the compartment 7 opposite the garage or the room intended to receive the vehicle.
It is understood that any drownings or safety devices can be used to properly retain the station when it is raised (Fig. 1).
The invention also provides that the roof 27 of the station can be made luminous, so as to reveal any inscriptions or advertising motifs when the latter is lowered (FIG. 2).
A hatch or the like 28 provided in said roof will allow the attendant responsible for operating the station to enter it easily.
It will be understood that the aim pursued by the present invention can be applied to all other installations of the kind, such as: signaling posts for traffic, booths or newspaper kiosks, tram stations, etc.
