"SFLLR D'APPUI A NERVURESPOUR FIXATION DR RAILS"
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"RIBBED SUPPORT SFLLR FOR DR RAILS FIXATION"
The object of the invention is a support saddle provided with two ribs between which the shoe of the rail is placed and held vertically by toads in the form of stirrups placed astride above said ribs, these toads being fixed by bolts with the head held in the ribs. *
Fixing systems of this kind are known, in which the heads of the caliper bolts are housed in transverse notches made s in the ribs, above the support plate, and are held on one side by the caliper, and on the other side. 'other side by the rail shoe or by spacing strips interposed between the rib and the rail shoe.
These systems have the following disadvantages:
The notches remove a whole transverse part of the rib above the plate and, therefore, weaken the latter in its longitudinal section. On the other hand, the notches must, as a result of the construction conditions,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
emerge above, or, all in hand, at the level of the support surface of the rail, which tends to increase the size of the system. In addition, when tightening the caliper bolts too vigorously, or abnormal forces in the track, the edges of the notches in cantilever can be deformed under the effect of the forces applied to the head of the bolt.
In order to remedy these drawbacks, the invention provides that the housings, for example semi-cylindrical, arranged in the ribs and intended to receive the stirrup bolts, emerge from the side wall of the ribs and leave a portion of said s ner-vure s on the side of the rail shoe.
In this way, the support saddle is only partially weakened in its longitudinal section, and the edges of the housings are reinforced by their connection with the part of the rib remaining on the side of the shoe of the rail.
In the case of the use of rails of low height requiring the minimum bulk of the fixing members (ribs, brackets, etc.) above the base of the rail, the invention provides that the level of the bottom of the housings may be lower. at the level of the upper surface of the saddle at the place of the rail support. ' In the same vein, it would even be possible, according to the invention, to have the bottom of the housings emerge at the level of the underside of the support saddle.
According to the principle of the invention, the caliper bolts are held in the housings by the outer leg of the calipers only.
The accompanying drawings indicate, by way of nonlimiting example, two embodiments of the invention.
This extends to the various original peculiarities contained in the provisions represented.
The f ig. I is a cross-sectional view in a rail fastening system according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the support saddle
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of fig.I.
FIG. 3 is a side view of the support saddle.
FIG. 4 is a profile vee of a Strier bolt according to the invention, provided with its nut.
Figure 5 is a top view of this bolt.
Figures 6 and 7 are views corresponding to FiguresI and 2, established for another embodiment.
Figures 8 and 9 similar to figures 4 and
5 represent the bolt of Strier referring to figures s
6 and 7.
In the case of Figures 1 to 5, the rail "a" is placed between the two rib b of the support saddle d. The s housings .9 made in the ribs -subsister a part of these y in the cross section of these housings.
The bolts g tighten the stirrups h over the ribs, on one side on the shoe of the rail, and on the other side on the outer edge of the support saddle ± ce
These b calipers g have a semi-cylindrical head; the round section of their stem is eccentric and tangent internally to the circular arc of the head.
The semi-cylindrical shape of the cements, corresponding to that of the heads of the bolts, offers the advantage of being easily achievable by milling, but it goes without saying that other shapes could be used without departing from the field of 'invention.
Lesfigures 6 and 7 describe, by way of indication, another embodiment which differs from the first in that the bottom of the housing, e is located at the level of the lower face of the support saddle d.
It is obvious that, as described, the invention is equally suitable in the case of the use of metal sleepers as of wooden sleepers.
