<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Tubular refrigerant.
Tubular refrigerants which consist of tubes or bundles of tubes nested 1 inside the other and in which the fluid to be cooled, i.e. the vapor to be condensed or the liquid to be cooled circulates in the interior space and the refrigerant fluid, i.e. the heat-absorbing liquid or the like, in the exterior space (or in the interior respectively exterior spaces) or vice versa, have heretofore been constructed in such a way that the coolant elements are each provided with closing heads or yokes which are interconnected in a corresponding manner.
Such refrigerants are formed from an extraordinarily large number of parts, because they have many gaskets or packings and many bolts for establishing the various connections. The greater the number of these parts, the greater the risk of leaks and the greater the

fabrication and assembly for the construction of the coolant, as well as partial or total disassembly and reassembly for cleaning is difficult and expensive.
These drawbacks are felt in a particularly unpleasant way when such a refrigerant has been constructed, for example, for hygienic uses. This case arises for example where it is a question of condensing and cooling water vapor, with a view to the production of drinking water by means of non-faultless raw water, by this raw water. Leaky joints can then allow the entry of raw water into the sterilized water already condensed, so that the purpose of the whole installation is thus missed.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate this drawback and it allows this elimination by the fact that it does not provide the elements of the cooler with individual heads or cylinder heads which are subsequently connected to one another, but that it combines them into groups. , in which the interior and exterior spaces open independently of one another into two compartments which have a very simple shape and can be separated from each other in a leaktight manner by means of only two packings and a smaller number of bolts.
In the accompanying drawing is shown an embodiment of the object of the invention. In this drawing: Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a complete refrigerant.
Fig. 2 and 3 show the details of the refrigerant on a larger scale.
As shown in fig. 1, the whole of the refrigerant is made up of five groups I to V, each of which has ten refrigerant elements 1 to 10. The exemplary embodiment here therefore contains fifty refrigerant elements.
Each element consists, for example, of a large outer tube a which is closed at its end by means of a welded ground.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
or brazed a '. Inside the tube a, a' is a bundle of inner tubes b. In the accompanying drawing only two of these inner tubes have been indicated, but in reality there are in practical construction for example fourteen of these tubes, that is to say there are seven on each side of a partition. c which divides the inside of tube a into two parts. The tubes b are connected by a collecting cap d such that the steam entering for example at e passes through the group of tubes b ', passes through the cap d, then passes through the group of tubes b "and leaves at f.
The refrigerant elements are not arranged vertically, as fig. 2 might suggest. This figure shows a plan view instead. The position of the elements is as shown in fig. 3. Likewise, the refrigerant elements are not so short as shown in the drawing, but on the contrary have a considerable length in relation to their diameter.
The outer tubes a open into a compartment g which extends over all the elements 1 to 10 of a group I, II, The tubes a are fixed in the pa, king h of the compartment by mandreling, welding or brazing in such a way that here any leaky seal is avoided with certainty. Interchangeable jams are not used here. The small inner tubes are fixed in the same way in the wall i of a compartment k which is placed in front of the compartment g. Between the two compartments g and k and at the edge of these there is each time a sealing washer m and n, and in front of these washers m and n is placed a cover p. Compartments g and k are connected together by bolts q, and cover p is tightened against compartment k by means of bolts r.
Each compartment has at its ends an opening for the fluid to be cooled and an opening for the refrigerant. If, as shown in fig. 2, the fluid to be cooled,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
therefore for example the water vapor enters in s, this fluid will pass through e, b ', d, b ", f in the following part of the compartment k, which is separated from the first part by a partition k'.
From the second compartment, the fluid to be cooled passes through the tubes b into the third compartment, therefore behind the partition k ", etc. The groups are connected at their ends by elbows s', s", s'Il, s " "so that the fluid to be cooled passes successively through all the groups I to V following a zigzag path.
The refrigerant would then exit at t and pass through the exterior spaces surrounding the tubes, also following a zig-zag path, determined by the partition ±.
Behind the elbows s ', s "... are other similar elbows t', t" to force the refrigerant to also pass in a zig-zag way through the different groups.
As the fluid to be cooled enters in s and the refrigerant exits at t, the two fluids in this case follow a reverse current.
The partitions c and the partitions k ', k ", ... do not need to close in a perfectly sealed manner at their lower end faces, respectively anterior, because the new arrangement is advantageously distinguished by the fact that leaking interfering joints can only occur at the two packing washers m and n. If these are not tight, the fluid to be cooled or the refrigerant can only exit towards the They can never produce any damage and their escape is noticed immediately.
The exchange of liquid at the ends of the partitions. ± and k ', k ", which do not need to be filled with jams, is of no importance, because here the fluid to be cooled can only join the fluid to be cooled and the refrigerant can only join the refrigerant.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
As assembly elements there are only the relatively small number of bolts q and r, which serve to connect the three Parts 9, h, p (two compartments and a cover), which join the elements 1 to 10 each. both in a group I to V. The manufacture and assembly are extraordinarily simple compared to the old way of constructing these refrigerants. The new construction offers particularly great advantages for cleaning.
The fluid (fluid to be cooled or refrigerant) which makes cleaning necessary as soon as possible due to deposits or other similar causes pass through the inner tubes. ± the fluid passing through the outer tubes as far as possible. which, in general, does not require cleaning.
In general, there is then nothing in each group to do other than unscrew the cover p and clean the tubes b by advancing the cleaning tools into the cap d which has such a favorable shape. that from the tubes b there is a way to also clean the inside of the cap d. If in extraordinary cases a thorough cleaning becomes necessary, one can quickly and easily undo the bolts q and dismantle the compartment k, so as to also uncover the inside of the tubes a, a '. Here it is more especially to be considered that in general the first compartment g does not need to be removed from the refrigerant support structure,
while until now the refrigeration elements had to be completely removed for cleaning, including their complete heads.
Instead of forming five groups of ten elements each, one can obviously choose at will the number of groups and this -. him of the elements of each group.
