Description

A method of decorating rubber articles.

The present patent application relates to a process for decorating rubber articles.

According to the invention, the design which is desired to be reproduced by the unvulcanized rubber is first prepared on a smooth surface by employing for this purpose a solution of unvulcanized rubber and a solution of unvulcanized rubber. Appropriate shade The surface to be decorated is then applied to the drawing to which it immediately adheres, and the vulcanization under pressure is carried out.

The object of the invention is also to easily produce certain designs and in particular the veins of marble.

Thus, a design is obtained which imitates, for example, the veins of marble on the surface of rubber articles made of pro-

yielding as known: the article to be manufactured is prepared in the unvulcanized state in the usual manner. On the other hand, a smooth surface, for example a polished sheet metal, is covered with a rubber dissolution layer of a desired color.

When the dissolution layer is dry, the film obtained is rolled with the fat of the finger or with any other suitable device. The film is gathered in thin strands all linked together and forming an irregular network. The unvulcanized object is applied to this network, to which it immediately adheres. Finally, we pass to the vulcanization under pressure in the usual way. The network which has been chosen from a color different from the color of the made-up article is printed therein and, after vulcanization, an article with a veined decoration of an artistic aspeot is found which has not yet been obtained.

The design which had been reproduced by the smooth plate is embedded in the mass, and as it has a certain thickness, the decoration can be applied to articles subject to wear, keeping the design for a period of time. very long.

Several designs, or several networks of different colors, can be applied to the same object to be vulcanized, thus obtaining infinitely varying artistic effects.

By performing marbling as indicated above, it is also possible to give the network geometric shapes while leaving on the smooth surface on which the film has been deposited, certain surfaces intact.

It is understandable that this process is of a great variety of decoration while being economical thanks to its simplicity.

ABSTRACT ------------- A method of decorating rubber articles, characterized in that the design to be shown as rubber <Desc / Clms Page number 3> unvulcanized is first carried out on a smooth surface such as a polished sheet, in a dissolving layer of unvulcanized ca- outohouo and of one or more suitable shades, after which the surface to be decorated is applied to the design to which it adheres immediately, after which proceeds to vulcanization under pressure. This process can be further characterized in that: a) The pattern imitating the veins of the hammer, or the like, is made by covering the smooth surface with a layer of rubber dissolution, which film after drying is rolled with the fat of the finger or any other device to obtain that the film is gathered in thin rods connected together, b) several designs of different colors can be made which are applied successively to the rubber to decorate.
