Fig.3 et 4 représentent des détails.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Device for molding the beds of wooden panels on a horizontal mortiser.
The present invention relates to mortising machines and especially to a device for molding the beds of wooden panels and producing the edge ribs.
The device according to the invention is remarkable in particular in that, the panel to be worked on being held in place by guides ensuring it a rigorously rectilinear movement above the attack tools, its lower edge is attacked and worked simultaneously. on both sides and in that the bed being formed is engaged and field reach between the attack tools. The advancement of the panel brings about the gradual and regular formation of the flower bed over the corresponding advancement length.
The tools include several not all identical cutting members giving in particular during the work two different consecutive cutting profiles which effeotuent an attack of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the material without the wood splitting.
Finally, the invention is further characterized by the fact that the special attack device can be adapted to existing mortisers.
The invention will be described with reference to the appended drawing which gives a non-limiting embodiment of the device according to the invention and in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the mortising machine with the table seen in section.
Fig. 2 shows a vertical section of the same along the line A-A of fig.l and
Figs. 3 and 4 show details.
The device according to the invention oonsiste essentially in the tool holder 1 fixed to and rotated by the shaft 2, which can be fixed in an existing mortising machine instead of the bit holder.
The tool holder consists of two bird holders 1 and 1 'which are separated by a washer 3 threaded onto the shaft 2 and provided with a central rib of radius specified below. The washer 3 is interchangeable in order to vary the distance between the two scissor holders 1, and for these purposes these parts are fixed on the shaft 2 in an easily removable manner, for example between a rib 4 of the shaft 2 and a nut 5 screwed onto the threaded end of the shaft; the scissor carriers each comprising several different branches, a key 6 is provided to make the identical branches of two parts 1, 1 'correspond exactly to one another with respect to the other.
The branches of each chisel holder are for example four in number arranged 90 from each other and carry two groups of separate tools or scissors: respectively 7-7 'and 8-8', the identical scissors being placed along the same diameter.
Each chisel is fixed on the corresponding branch by
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
example by bolts 9; the birds of the first group 7-7 'present their edge or ridge parallel to the axis of rotation, while those of the second group 8-8' present their ridge roughly radially and as it will be better specified capers. The arrangement is particularly visible in fig. 3 which shows a plan view of the chisel holder 1.
The shaft 2 is carried under the table 10 in a manner not shown; as a result of the rotation of this shaft, the scissors project successively above the table 10 through the slot 11 in this table.
The table comprises guides 12-12 'between which the board or the panel to be worked 13 is placed, held vertically in the field and guided in the median plane of the two parts 1-1' (fig. 2). Guides la-12 'are widened above slot 11 so as to leave sufficient space or chamber 14 around and above the tools.
Fig. 2 shows the panel in position during work; the lower side edges are first attacked by the scissors 7-7 'which remove by twists la'part of material shown hatched at 15 in fig.4. The scissors 8-8 'then remove from a single slice the hatched part at 16 of the same figure. The flower bed having to have a slightly conical shape, it can be seen that the scissors 8-8 'must have their edge slightly inclined on the vertical of fig.2; they can also have their edge inclined to the vertical of fig.l to facilitate attack.
From these two cuts results the flower bed 17; this is supported during the work on the central rib of the washer 3 by its lower edge which remains unattacked, the tool must always be adjusted so that the washer 3 is tangent by its rib to the plane of the table 10. This washer interferes with the advancement of the panel and the panel must be pushed against the tools to the desired length for the bed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The adjustment for flowerbeds of variable dimensions is made according to known means and has not been shown with regard to the height and lateral position of the tree.
The thickness of the bed is determined by the washer 3 as already specified and which must also be interchanged according to the height of the bed or the position in the vertical direction of the tree 2. The guides 12-12 ' are also adjustable according to the thickness of the panel worked. For these settings, gauges will advantageously be used.
