<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present process is characterized substantially by:
1.- a preparation of the paper intended to prevent the latter from absorbing the inks or colors that are applied to it and to allow its transport on wood, fabric or other surfaces,
2.- preparation of printing inks or colors to make them possible to use in lithographic machines and

ordinary letterpresses and keep them in such a condition that they can be transported at the desired time, by pressure and heating and moistening, on surfaces of wood, fabric, etc.
3.- treatment of the sheets which have just been printed in order to allow them to be immediately stacked and to make them capable of retaining their transport property unaltered even after long intervals of time, for example after several years.
The preparation of the paper mentioned under 1 consists of coating it with a special glue which is obtained, according to the invention, as follows: a) Poured into 18 liters of boiling water first about 12 kilos of white corn dextrin and then about 2 kilos of powdered rice starch and let it boil for about 5 minutes.
As soon as the mixture is removed from the heat, it is sieved to remove any lumps. b) Approximately 400 gr is poured into five liters of cold water. of sodium carbonate and 400 gr. of very pure French rosin powder and boil everything, stirring constantly, until the complete liquefaction of the rosin. Then the whole is poured into the composition indicated under a). c) About 200 gr is introduced into a liter of water. of egg albumin a few hours before carrying out the other operations, so that the albumin is completely liquefied at the moment when it is to be used.
This solution is poured into the composition indicated under a) immediately after having poured therein the preparation indicated under b.) D) At the same time as preparation c) approximately 200 g are poured into the composition indicated under a). of sulfur flower and 400 gr. of gum arabic and then 2 kg. of blond glycerin at 28 Bé.
The glue thus obtained is sieved, suitably three times, to obtain a perfect liquid. Then we coat it

the paper to be printed, either by hand or using a machine.
Wrapping paper weighing about 60 g will advantageously be used. per sheet of the format 75 X 100 cm. cellulose-based and perfectly smooth and coated onto this smooth surface.
The printing inks or colors referred to in paragraph 2 are prepared as follows:
We place in a container about 5 liters of French turpentine, about 1 kg. And a half of very pure virgin wax, 250 gr. of stearin (or preferably paraffin) and 2 kg. of powdered French rosin; the whole is heated in a double-bath until all the substances are completely dissolved. Finally, the composition is passed through a sieve.
: The preparation thus obtained must be mixed with printing inks or colors in the ratio of approximately 300 gr. by each Kg. of ink or colors; the inks must be of the best quality and the print must be very oily.
Referring to paragraph 3, when the inscriptions and designs have been printed, the leaves are immediately sprayed with very pure French rosin reduced to a very fine powder; this operation can be carried out either by hand or mechanically.
The invention therefore comprises the following three preparatory processes:
The paper to be printed is coated with a special glue to prevent the penetration of color or ink and - to make transport possible on the surfaces of wood or fabric, a chemical composition is added to the inks or colors for them. keep them active and give them the properties necessary for transport and finally the sheets which have just been printed are sprayed with a rosin powder, to allow them to be immediately stacked, despite the greasy impression, to keep fresh.

check the colors and allow transport even after several years.
The transport is based on the absorption of the surfaces to be covered, which must therefore have suitable absorbent properties, for example be made of wood or fabric. The transport is effected by placing the printed sheet of paper on the surface in question, covering the sheet with a wet cloth, or by moistening the sheet and then exerting pressure on the same accompanied by reheating.
In the case of fine fabrics, such as sole, white canvas etc. the pressure of an iron for three or four seconds will be sufficient, while for all other materials, such as wood, canvas to be wrapped etc. it will be necessary to use a mechanical pressure which will last - yet always last for three to four seconds.
In summary, the invention relates to:
1.- Process for reprinting inscriptions or designs intended to be transported on wood, fabrics or other absorbent materials, using pressure, in the wet and hot state, characterized in that the printing is made with inks or colors, to which have been added, to maintain their active force for a long time and to facilitate their transport, a chemical composition in the ratio of about 300 gr. per Kg.
ink or colors, on paper which has been coated with a special solution of glue to prevent absorption and to make transport possible.
